《Dark Saviour ✔》Chapter 20: Epilogue

Snow covered the streets and piled on the bare branches of all the trees. The street-lights reflected off the white snow and icy roads, that cautioned everyone to drive as slow as possible. Zero strolled through the busy Manhattan streets. She tightly zipped up her jacket and was glad that she chose to wear a pair of gloves tonight. She had finished up another mission and thought before going home that she'd pick up her husband too.

Arriving outside his company doors, it was late and everyone had already gone home. Zero didn't see any cars parked nearby and most of the lights inside the skyscraper were turned off. She pulled out her cellphone and was about to call him, when a figure appeared dressed in a lavish suit with a wool jacket and scarf around his neck- it was rare to see him in all black. Severin shuddered at the cold breeze and quickly pulled on his gloves before he saw her standing commandingly in her trench coat.

He smiled charmingly at her. "Did you come to pick up your devilishly handsome husband?" he jested.

She dropped her crossed arms. "Of course, I don't want anyone else stealing you away," she remarked. He came up to her with open arms and hugged her tightly. The ice in her body replaced with purity and every dark image was wiped clean with his alluring scent.

"I missed you," he sighed.

She soaked in his warmth. "Me too," she found herself closing her eyes and being put to ease.

Severin put his arm around her waist. "We should go out for dinner tonight," he suggested. They strolled back to the car where Elijah had parked and waited for them to return.

"Sure, why not," she agreed.

Zero didn't know what it was but her entire body was on alert. She ignored it and tried her hardest to listen to her mate as he spoke about work. However, her body was warning her and now so was her wolf.

"Honey, are you listening?" Severin's voice pulled her back to where they were standing. And it was then she noticed that they were right beside their car.

Zero looked at him and she was acutely aware that her frown was prominent on her face.

"You know, I've been meaning to ask your real name," said Severin. "That way I know how to get your full attention."

"My real name is..." Suddenly, Zero immobilized as she detected a dangerous presence, her skin crawled and the hair on the back of her neck stood up.

"What's wrong?" Severin asked when he sensed her threatening pheromones radiate around them like a shield.

Zero didn't answer though. Her eyes only darted up and down the streets- all around them. "It's not safe here," she growled, her hot breath fogging up in front of her. She put her hand in her pocket reaching for her weapon. "Severin, get in the car-" but it was too late.

Suddenly, across the street, Zero locked eyes with the one that released such poisonous pheromones.

A man in a tailored suit and piercing blue eyes walked down the street. He took confident strides ahead, and people moved from his way without any warning needed from him. He looked eerily familiar to her. Those chillingly evil eyes that gave her nothing but the intentions of murder and mayhem... she knew him.

The man stopped in his tracks. He sensed her like she had him. The man turned and knew where to look. Across the road, over the cars, his blue gaze locked with hers. He wasn't an ordinary rogue wolf and she knew from the way his cold blood made her sick to her stomach. His raw strength was enough to warn any wolf and human on the street to back the fuck off if they didn't want trouble.

"Adrik?" she whispered her guess. But no, that wasn't Adrik because there was no scar on the eye. This man looked different despite those familiar features.

"Where?" Severin said as he looked around and saw what she was staring at. "That doesn't look like Adrik, honey."

Strangely, this rogue alpha ignored her. He simply went ahead on the same path and didn't engage with her.

"It's seems we have a visitor in my town," announced Zero.

"Who was that?" asked Severin.

Something told her that it had to do with the Iron Blood pack and it wasn't looking good either.

"We need to go home," she said grimly, "I need to make a call."
