Aurora woke up to Alex's arms wrapped around her middle. She welcomed the warmth that he brought her and snuggled closer to him. She was glad that he was finally opening up to her. He held an important place in her heart and wanted to see where their relationship went.

She moved slightly so that she could face him. To her, he looked peaceful while he was asleep and looked like he didn't have to worry about thing. She hated that he worried about things that he didn't need to. He was sweet and hated that he could hurt the people that he cared about.

He wanted to have a future with Aurora but was afraid that he would hurt her. No matter how many times she told him that she could take care of herself, he still worried. He loved her and hoped she felt the same way.

"It's rude to stare, you know," he spoke huskily.

Aurora giggled softly, "I can't help it. I'm admiring you. You're beautiful and I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around the fact that you're here." She loved him but was scared that he would leave her like everyone else did. She knew she wouldn't be able to cope with it if he left her too.

Alex cupped her cheek gently, "I'm not going anywhere. I'm here. We've both run from our problems long enough. We face them together." He could feel her uneasiness and didn't like it at all. He hated that she doubted herself and didn't think she was enough. He wanted to prove to her that she was worth it and deserved to be loved.

"We should get ready. Everyone is waiting downstairs." She hated how vulnerable she sounded. She didn't want to appear weak.

Alex sighed, "Don't hide from me, love. I meant what I said. I'm not going anywhere. Trust me." It was hard for her to trust anyone but she knew that Alex would stay true to his word. He needed her as much as she needed him.

They had both gotten changed before making their way downstairs together to find everyone in front of the TV, listening to President Kennedy deliver his speech on the crisis in Cuba. Aurora had always hated watching the news, especially when it involved mutants.

"It shall be the policy of this nation to regard any nuclear missles crossing the embargo line that surrounds Cuba as an attack by the Soviet Union on the United States requiring a full retaliatory response upon the Soviet Union," he continued.

"That's where we're going to find Shaw, " Erik stated.

"How do you know?" Alex asked. As if sensing her uneasiness, he grabbed her hand, interlocking their fingers while slowly rubbing circles on the back of her hand. She was grateful that he right by her side.

"Two super powers facing off and he wants to start World War III. He won't leave anything to chance," Charles explained. She could feel how uneasy he felt about the whole situation, not that she could blame him, they all were.

"So much for diplomacy. I suggest you all get a good nights sleep," Erik spoke.

Alex kissed the top of her head before escorting her out of the room. Looks like they are going to Cuba.
