i whispered to myself, wondering why justin suddenly bid goodbye.

my train of thoughts were cut off by the sound of my doorbell ringing continuously. i grunted. only paulo does that to my doorbell. 'di talaga marunong maghintay, grr, kainis.

i opened the door, annoyance evident on my face and proceeded to scold this guy.

i was cut off, again, when pablo excitedly jumped onto me and snaked his arms on my neck, hugging me tight. i laughed while closing the door slowly behind his back.

i said while tapping his lower back. pablo has always been a sweet friend but i know he's not a fan of hugs. although, he always tell me that i'm an exemption to the things that he dislikes. bolero talaga.

he slapped my arm and i winced in pain while laughing at him.

pau added.

he said while placing the food that he bought on the dining table.

pau chuckled and lightly punched my arm.

my eyebrows met at what he said.

how did he know that?

i saw the panic in his eyes, probably scolding himself deep inside of telling me something he shouldn't have said.

i sighed and pulled him in a hug.

years ago, we made a promise to do this whenever we would accidentally say something bad to the other. it's our way of saying "it's alright" or "i understand". if i don't hug him, it means he really offended me by what he said, and vice versa.

his voice raised a bit but it was muffled as his face was buried on my chest. i rubbed his back to comfort him.

he pulled away from the hug to look at me in the eyes. naiiyak siya..? why..?

i nodded and smiled timidly. pablo hugged me one more time before walking away to settle by the floor in the living room where i set up some pillows and blankets for our comfort. i went to the kitchen to bring the snacks and burgers that i prepared for us.

but why was he about to tear up? may nasabi ba 'ko? but.. baka naman sobrang nag-aalala lang talaga siya?
