A/N: Okay. I am back from surgery, this is the first time I've been in my room or had access to my laptop since Monday. That's why it's been a while. But okay, like the songs at the end, please listen to them. (I literally put them in here for you) Like, ahhh. They are good. And the very last one (bonus one???) I literally discovered like 5 minutes ago, it's a gem, please listen and love.
On the way to the restaurant, the Jenna connects her phone to the aux cord and plays everyone's cover song from their vocals class. Most of them did pop artist covers like Sia, Adele, and Ariana Grande. I've never heard of Jenna's band but it turned out awesome. Hayley did King of Leons and it was really good.
"Where are we going again?" Lynn asks, next to me. "Which restaurant?"
Cody sighs. "I can never remember the name. It's the hibachi restaurant, the one where they cook in front of you."
"Those are the coolest," Amelia says. "And I love their food."
As we approached the traffic light, it turns yellow. Cody sighs, starting to break. The car in the lane next to us starts speeding up. "Hey!" Jenna screams, flicking them off. I glance out and see Gerard driving passed, flicking her back. Brendon presses his face against the window behind Gerard. They make it through the light before it turns red. Jenna laughs, leaning back in the passenger seat.
A few minutes later, we park next to the others. "Dude, you totally could have made the light," Gerard says, getting out of the car.
"Yeah, I realized that after I hit the breaks and I wasn't going to bother," Cody says, walking around.
The wind picks up and starts blowing my hair in my face. "Hey, here's an idea, let's talk inside!" Lynn says, hopping around while hugging herself. "Where it's warm." Before anyone else replies, she starts shuffling in toward the restaurant with Hayley following after her.
The rest of us walk in as Lynn and Hayley have the hostess leading us to the table. It's only 8 of us today since Patrick has work and Sarah is at her grandparents. We sit down the line going Brendon, Cody, Amelia, Jenna, Lynn, Gerard, Me, and Hayley.
"Cody, I'm paying for you," Brendon says.
Cody glances up confused. "Wha-"
"I thought I was," Gerard says.
"Guys, no," Cody says, glancing between the two of them."
"No, I got this Gerard," Brendon says. "So, what do you want?"
Cody stares at the menu then smirks. "I'll have the lobster!"
Brendon eyes narrow. "Hey, Gerard, you still offer-
"Dude, I'm kidding," Cody chuckles. "I don't even like seafood."
"They have vegan pot stickers," Jenna says happily. "Frank, you getting some with me?"
"Hell yeah," I say with a smile.
The 8 of us order our food and shortly later, the chef comes by. It's entertaining watching it. I've never been to one of these kinds of restaurants before but I definitely intend on coming here again. Even with the cooking in front of you part, I still would come back because the food is really good.
While eating, we learn who knows how to use chopsticks and who doesn't. I'm doing okay. Whenever my family would get Chinese food, we would use the chopsticks but it's been a while. Gerard, Amelia, Jenna, and Lynn do fine. Cody and Hayley give up after a while using a fork. Brendon has resorted to stabbing his food.

"Brendon, you can't just stab your food to eat it," Lynn says.
"Yes, it's called shit kabab," he says.
Gerard makes a face at him. "No, I don't think so. I wouldn't want a shit kabab," he says.
Brendon rolls his eyes. "You know what I mean,"
"Shish kebab," I correct. "Dude, how are you going to eat your rice?"
He looks down with a puzzled expression. "I will stab each individual grain and eat it."
Jenna stares at him. "Please, do that. I dare you."
"Could just use a fork," Hayley says.
"No, forks are for the weak," he grumbles, trying to eat his chicken.
"I may be weak but at least I won't starve," Cody says.
There's a clatter on the table and we all glare at Amelia as she dropped her phone out of her hand. "Ack," she squeals.
"You good?" Cody asks with a slight smile.
"Yeah, I was reading zodiac sign memes," she mumbles. "Then my phone fell out of my hand and was louder than I thought it would be."
"You follow the zodiac posts?" I ask.
"Eh, no. It just came up so I've been swiping through a few."
"What was the last one you read?" Gerard asks, eating the stir-fried vegetables.
Amelia scrolls back and reads. "How hardcore are the signs," he says with a half grin. She glances up at me. "Frank, what's your sign?"
"Scorpio," I say. "Why?"
She nods. "Just wondering because I know everyone else's." She reads through the list. "Aries: Hulk Smash hardcore." Brendon and Gerard chuckle and high five each other. "Taurus: Not at all, sorry Patrick and Sarah. Gemini: Likes to think they do." Amelia looks at Jenna and shrugs. "I mean, I want to say I am but I don't like confrontation."
"Same," Jenna comments, drinking her Japanese soda.
"Frank, you're Scorpio: the most hardcore sign of them all."
"Damn straight," I say.
"Capricorn: Hardcore when they feel like it." The others look at Cody and Hayley and laugh in agreement. "And Pisces: -50 hardcore."
"What?" Lynn cries. "I could be hardcore."
"Yeah, sure babe," Jenna says, slinging her arm over her shoulder.
Lynn stares at her and Jenna bursts out giggling. "I could fight you if I wanted to.
"I'm sure you could," Jenna says, causing Lynn to roll her eyes while also giggling. "What else do you have?"
Amelia swipes through the posts. "How gay are the signs?"
"Yes!" half the table outcries.
"Oh my god, okay. So in order, it's 0% Capricorn, which is true."
"I mean, I'm definitely straight but Hayley is ace," Cody says.
Hayley shrugs. "Yeah, but that means I'm not gay, and neither are you."
Cody stares off for a moment then nods. "Yeah, fair point."
"Gemini is 50% gay," she says. "Jen, I think that 50 percent is all from you." Jenna smiles at her. "Aries is 75%."
"Bisexual," Brendon says, singing out the syllables. Gerard nervously laughs in response, which draws attention to him.
"You bi?" Amelia asks him.
"I'm a frying pan," he mutters. Amelia stares at him confused. "Pan, not bi," he says, his cheeks slightly rosy.
"Oh, that makes more sense."
"Yes, Melia," Gerard says. "I am cookware, make scrambled eggs in me."

Cody stares at him in slightly disturbed. "Don't ever say that again, please." Gerard covers his face while laughing to himself.
"Moving right along," Amelia says. "Scorpio is 100% gay." I start laughing hysterically. Amelia pauses with a grin. "and Pisces is Raging gay at 450%"
"Hell yeah," Lynn says. "Break the system and be extra gay."
"What's this?" Jenna says, leaning over Amelia's phone. "Who the signs are secretly attracted to?"
"Read it," Brendon says.
"Eh," Amelia says. "This one isn't really accurate, like at all."
"Read it," Hayley says. "It's still funny."
"Says Aries is attracted to Scorpio," she says.
Brendon glances at me. "Hey, baby," he says in a seductive voice.
"Why, hello," I say back in the same tone.
Amelia chuckles. "Yeah, there ya go. Gemini with Leo, which isn't for either of us."
"I don't even know a Leo," Jenna mutters.
"Same," Amelia replies. "Scorpio got the hots for Taurus. So Frank has either Sarah or Brendon as an option."
"According to the last post," Hayley says, "Scorpio being 100% gay makes Patrick is the only choice."
"Science," I say jokingly.
"Capricorn likes Sagittarius and Pisces likes Libra, again, doing know any Sagittarius or Libras."
"Yeah, those were kind of bad. None of us matched with anyone that actually likes the other." Cody says.
"See," Hayley says, "I don't follow the zodiac posts but I do think they're fun when they come up. Because they are usually very accurate or extremely wrong."
"Yeah," I say, "def-"
"WHAT!" Lynn shrieks. Gerard jumps back staring at her. The rest of us look back at the two of them. Her eyes are wide and her mouth is gaping open. "Wait, oh my god," she whispers.
"What just happened?" Cody asks. Neither of them moves. Gerard is staring at her sternly and Lynn is frozen with giddiness.
"You good?" I ask. Lynn's eyes dart in my direction but she still doesn't say anything. "What?"
"Nothing," Gerard grumbles, still glaring at Lynn.
She pauses. "You said-"
"Nothing," he says again firmly. "I said nothing."
Cody and I make eye contact and his sighs. "Well, moving on then?" Amelia looks at Gerard but Gerard sits rigidly. I glance back at Hayley but she gives a small shrug. What just happened? We were just talking about zodiac signs. Literally, nothing happened. I don't know why either of them are freaking out.
In my peripheral vision, I see Lynn leaning close to Gerard but he abruptly gets up. "Walk with me?" he whispers urgently. He doesn't sound mad or irritated, his voice frays at the end. And he wasn't demanding, more like begging. Lynn gets up, looking at him dazed. He grabs her wrist and they walk away from the sitting area to the front.
"What was that?" Jenna asks, glancing back at them. "Did you guys see what happened?"
Hayley and I shake our heads. "I mean, I was saying something but then he must've said something to. I didn't hear anything," she says, then looking at me.
"See, I didn't hear anything, I didn't know he said something," I say.
"He looked pissed," Brendon said. "I don't know, he seemed mad at her."
"He didn't sound mad," Amelia says. "Like, he sounded afraid or something."
"Yeah, but I don't know what would've happened to trigger anything," Jenna says.
"Probably shouldn't bring it up," Brendon says. "When they come back, unless they say something, don't ask." I know he's right but part of me wants to ask him. Amelia continues reading off zodiac posts and a few minutes later, Gerard and Lynn come back with neutral expressions. They don't bring anything up. We don't ask.
After we all finish, we pay the bills, leave a generous tip, and then head out. "We heading home?" Hayley asks.
"We don't have to," Cody says. "It's Friday."
"We took two cars," Gerard points out. "If anyone needs to head home, I can drop them off."
"I need to go home," Lynn says. "I have a dentist appointment in the morning so my parents need me to be home before 10."
Gerard glances at her and nods. "Anyone else or we all going back to Cody's?"
Everyone else nods. "Wait," Cody says. "I can only fit five people, including me."
"I can go with Gerard," I say. Gerard looks at me hesitantly. "You heading back to Cody's?"
"Yeah," he says, nervously.
"Sorry, I'm like out of the way," Lynn says.
"No, no. I offered to drive, I don't mind," Gerard says. "So, uh, let go?"
Lynn says bye to the others, wishes Cody happy birthday and then kisses Jenna on the check before we head out. Lynn sits in the passenger seat and I sit in the middle of the back. It's awkwardly quiet while Gerard drives out of the parking lot. The clicking of the turn signal becomes very loud without us talking. Lynn glances at me in the side mirror of the car and I notice her giddy grin repressed in her face still.
10 minutes later, we drop Lynn off at her house. "Well, thank you for driving me, Gee," she says, unbuckling.
"Yeah, no problem," he says softly. He looks at her and smiles as she gets out.
"Have a good weekend, guys," she says, waving to us then shutting the door.
It's quite when the door closes, Gerard tapping his finger again the steering wheel. "You...sitting up front?" he finally asks.
"Oh, right," I say, unbuckling and then getting out, joining him in the front. He continues tapping the steering wheel, waiting for me to buckle. "Everything good?" I ask.
"Yep," he says, backing out.
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
I nod along. It's just us here. Just us. There's nothing between us. "What happened at the restaurant?"
Gerard doesn't react when I ask, just continues driving straight. "Nothing."
"What about with you and Lynn?" I ask. I don't respond. "And where did you guys go?"
"It doesn't matter," he mutters.
"Well, you guys kind of made it a big deal. Like she freaked out and then you wouldn't talk about it, then you both left to talk about it." I nervously laugh in an attempt to lighten up the mood. "Come on, it's just me. What was it?" Gerard glances at me hesitantly. Something's off about him. He's not...joking or his usually sassy self. He's not nonchalant or laid back either. He's tense, pensive, like he's worried about something, nervous. "Gee? You hiding something from all of us? From me?"
He purses his lip to the side. "Yeah, you got me," he says melodramatically. "I convinced Lynn she's actually straight and when we to the bathroom to make out." I don't respond to him. "Look, it's not a big deal and you shouldn't care."
"I mean, if it wasn't a big deal, you wouldn't look so upset. Are you okay?"
"What? Yeah, I'm fine," he says. Yeah, fine. Sure you are.
"What happened? Did you say something?" I ask.
"No, I just, leave it alone, okay?" he mutters. "I don't want to talk about it."
"Okay," I whisper, leaning back in the seat. There's no point in pushing it anymore. Gerard's not going to tell me, he doesn't want to and he sounds upset. I thought he would tell me if it was just the two of us, nobody else. Whatever it is, it's not something he wants me to know and by how he reacted, I don't think he wanted Lynn to know either. Whatever happened, he didn't want it to happen.

Journey Towards Dao
What is infinite, possessing no beginning nor end? What is imperceptible, appearing both indistinct yet intelligible? What is indecipherable, unable to be interpreted or understood? What is quintessential, unfathomable, eternal? What is Dao? The main focus of this story is detailed cultivation, professions, and combat systems. It's a slice-of-life with a cultivation system that delves into psychological aspects (including minor psychopathic/sociopathic elements). Protagonist is the low-key sort. Be prepared for a slower start. This is my first ever experience writing fiction. I'm trying my best to put out quality content initially, but my main goal is to improve. Comments, ratings, and reviews are greatly appreciated!
