《Believing In Fairytales》Chapter Ten: His Parents

Robin is on his way home from picking up Roland from school. I decide to busy myself and tidy up the house. As I was cleaning the kitchen counters I hear the doorbell ring. I sigh as I walk over to the front door.

"May I help you?" I say as I open the door to see a couple.

"Is Robin home?" The older man asks and I shake my head.

"Good, then he'll be surprised." The woman beams.

They push their way past me and hand me their coats. Who the hell are these people? They walk through the house and they easily make their selves at home.

"Who are you?" I ask as I place their coats on the coat rack.

"For a maid you are quite clueless." The man says and I feel my cheeks go red.

"Richard! That was rude of you to say. We're Robin's parents. My name is Katherine and this is my husband Richard." She says as she holds out a hand for me to shake.

"His parents?" I whisper to myself as I take a deep breath.

"Regina! We're home!" I hear Robin yell as the front door opens.

He walks towards me without acknowledging his parents. He gives me a kiss on the forehead and hands me a sleeping Roland.

"What are you guys doing here?" Robin says as he hugs both his presents.

"We just wanted to surprise you and we had the opportunity to meet your maid." Katherine says as she gives me a smile.

"I don't have a maid." Robin says as he looks at his parents.

"Then who is the sexy lady?" Richard says and Katherine punches his arm.

"This is my girlfriend Regina and next time I want to know when you come over." He says and he wraps an arm around my waist.

"Robbie why didn't you tell us you had a girlfriend? I am sorry we thought you were the maid." Katherine says as she places her hand on my shoulder.

"It's alright. I'll just leave you guys to talk and put Roland down in his room." I say and leave the awkward situation.

I struggle to open the door with Roland in my arms but I manage to do it. I place him on the bed and carefully take off his shoes. I give him a kiss on his cheek and quietly leave the room. I close the door and I turn around to see Mr.Locksley.

"Can I help you Mr.Locksley?" I say with a nervous smile.

"What are your intentions with my son?" He says with a serious look on his face that scares the crap out of me.

"I'm not sure what you mean by that." I say nervously.

"Marian left him devastated with a young son to care for. She took his money and left him heart broken. I'm just trying to protect my son." He says as he stares at me.

"I love your son and I don't plan on leaving him or taking any advantage." I say and he walks closer to me and puts his mouth near my ear.

"I'll make sure of it." He whispers into my ear and then walks away.

I walk in the other direction towards my bedroom. I close the door and lean against it. Five minutes with his parents and they already hate me. Am I really that unpleasant to be around that someone I just met can already hate me? I hear a knock on the door I'm leaning on.

"Regina, is something wrong?" He says and I let him in the room.

"Your father hates me." I whine and he wraps his arms around me.

"My father hates everyone. I won't let him get to you." He says with a chuckle.

"Too late." I say and he kisses my forehead.

"Come on I'll be right by your side."

"You promise?" I ask as I look up at him.

"I promise." He says and he kisses me on the cheek.

"I love your kisses." I say with a smile and he kisses my nose.

"Let's go back out there." He says and he grabs my hand.

He leads us into the living where his parents are seated on a couch. His mother has a warm smile on her face while his father sends me a cold glare. My smile fades and Robin gives my hand a gentle squeeze. We sit on the couch across from them and Robin holds me close to him.

"There is no nice way to say this but we're going to question you. You can tell us some stuff about yourself before we ask questions." Katherine says with a warm smile.

"I'm a high school teacher in the city. It's not the best choice but I do love working with children."

"Do you want children in the future?" She asks.

"Of course I do."

"Do you have any children?" Richard says with his glare.

"Yes I have a daughter and she's six." I say and Robin squeezes my hand.

"Is she from a previous relationship? Katherine asks.

"Her father is my ex-husband."

"Where is she now?" She asks.

"Well, my ex-husband was abusive and controlling. He took her away and I haven't seen her since."

"I'm so sorry I asked about it." She says and before I can say anything Roland walks into the room.

"Grandma and grandpa!" He says and he runs into his grandfather's arms.

"Roland my lad I missed you." Richard says as he lifts a laughing Roland in the air.

I get up from the couch and excuse myself. I walk into the kitchen and start pulling out pots and pans. It's almost dinner time and I want to make a good impression. I grab various ingredients from the refrigerator and the cabinets. I start chopping up tomatoes on the cutting board.

"What are you doing?" I hear and I jump to see Robin.

"Don't sneak up on people like that. I'm making lasagna for dinner."

"Do you want some help with that?" Robin asks as he walks closer to me.

"No, you'll just get in my way and I need something to do to keep me occupied. I'm not one for stressful situations like this." I say and Robin wraps his arms around my waist.

"Calm down sweetheart. Whenever you feel stressed just go to your happy place." He says and I turn around to face him.

"You're my happy place." I say as I lean against his chest.

He bends his head down to give me a kiss. His warm lips easily melted my stress away. I smile as I pull away and he tightens his hold around me.

"Better?" He asks as he places a kiss on my forehead.

"Better." I say with a smile.

"Now how can I help?" He says as he lets go of me.

"You can get out my kitchen." I say as I cross my arms.

"But I want to help." Robin whines and I try to hold in a laugh.

"This is a secret recipe and I can't have anybody knowing the secret ingredient."

"You can tell me babe." Robin says with a smile as he puts his hands around my hips.

"I would tell you but then I'd have to kill you." I say and I escape his grasp and start cutting tomatoes again.

"You wouldn't kill me because you love me too much." Robin says and I laugh.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night Locksley." I say with a laugh and Robin leaves the kitchen.

Dinner wasn't a complete disaster. The meal was great and Katherine kept complimenting me. Roland called me mama and Katherine swooned while Richard continued to interrogate me. Robin held my hand as I answered his father's questions.

I cleaned off the table and cleaned the kitchen with Katherine. Her joyful mood made me happy and I wished for a mother like her. We just finished cleaning and were having a glass of wine when Roland walked in.

"Mama I'm tired." He says as he rubs his eyes.

"I'll tuck you in then." I say and I give Katherine a smile before getting up from my chair.

I carry the little boy in my arms as I walk towards his room. He snuggles his small head into my neck and I kiss his curls. I open his bedroom door and place him in his bed. I pull the blanket up to his chin and I start to walk away.

"Where's my kiss?" I hear him whisper and a smile creeps on my face.

I walk back over to his bed and kiss his forehead. My lipstick leaves a mark on his skin and I wipe it off with my thumb.

"Goodnight Roland." I say with a smile.

I sit next him until he falls asleep. When he does I place another kiss on his cheek. I walk out the room and leave the door cracked open. I walk back to the living room to see Robin and his parents watching television.

"Have a seat babe." Robin says and I immediately snuggle up with him.

He rubs circles on my back and my eyelids grow heavy. I snuggle my head into his shoulder as I watch the television. He moves around on the couch and I become uncomfortable. I move to lay my head on his lap. His hands soon find its way into my hair and my eyes close once again.

"Someone had a long day." Robin says as he smoothes down my hair.

"I really like her Robin. I don't think you could have picked a better girlfriend." Katherine says.

"She's truly great mum. I can't wait for you to know more about her." Robin says as his hand rubs my arm.

"You really do love her son." I hear Katherine say.

"I do love her. She's everything I've ever dreamed about. Hopefully one day she'll marry me." Robin says and tears try to pry my eyes open.

"I can tell she is the one for you. I was mean to her all day and she put up with me because she loves you. I'll be glad to call her family." I hear Richard say.

I want to spring my eyes open and hug all of them. Robin wants to marry me and Richard likes me! I just don't want them to know I was eavesdropping.

"I'll see you guys tomorrow. I'm going to get Regina into bed. Which guest room will you be in?" Robin asks.

"The one by the front door. Goodnight Robbie." I hear Katherine say.

"Goodnight mum and dad." Robin says and then he stands up.

I feel his hands under me and he brings me close to his chest. My head fits in the crook of his neck and his hands easily carry my weight. Soon I feel the bed under me and he lays me down. I feel him pull the blanket over my shoulders and I smile.

"I'm sorry I woke you." He says and I smile again.

"Just shut up and cuddle with me."

He climbs over me and gets under the covers. His hands wrap around my waist and he lays his head on mine.

"Goodnight Regina." Robin whispers.

"But I'm not tired yet." I whine as I trace patterns on his arm.

"What do you want to do then?" Robin asks and I roll over to face him.

"I want to kiss you." I say with a smile on my face.

I grab his face with both my hands and smash my lips onto his. I can feel him smile as his lips move against mine. I smile back as he moves his fingers through my hair.

"Ready for bed now?" Robin asks me as he pulls away.

"Nope." I say and I pop the p.

"My parents are across the house. That means that they won't hear us." Robin says into my ear and his hands drift down to my stomach.

"No!" I scream but it's too late.

His hands wiggle against my stomach and I start laughing like crazy. As he tickles me he places kisses on my face. Tears exit my eyes as I laugh like a crazy hyena.

"Robin, stop!" I say through a fit of giggles.

"Are you ready for bed now?" Robin says as he stops to let me breath.

"Yes." I say and I snuggle next to him.

"Goodnight babe." He says as he kisses my forehead.

"Goodnight." I say with a smile plastered on my face.
