《Alpha Theo || ✓》36 | alone

When I woke up, I was met with disappointment as I turned in the bed and seeing that Theo had was no longer beside me.

With a frown on my face, I lifted myself off my pillow and looked around the room. Quickly, I noticed Theo's bag that he packed light late last night was gone. He had left without saying goodbye.

I felt anger stir within me, however, it faded just as quick as it appeared. I huffed irritated, letting myself fall back down on my pillow.

I wasn't surprised that he left without me, he clearly knew that I was planning on guilting him into letting me go on the trip with him. I yawned, stretching my arms before instinctively reaching for my neck.

I could feel the mark that he had left with me last night, I closed my eyes and smiled while I gently outlined it-- it felt like two little tattooed dots. I let out air through my nostrils as I sighed in content, my mind wandering to the two of us together again.

"Good morning, baby," My eyes sprung open, a wide grin instantly plastered on my face the second I heard Theo's voice within my mind.

Since he put his mark on me last night, it meant that we had completed the mating process. Another effect from the mark happened to me an instant mind connection between each of us. Just like a pack mind-link, however, this time it was just us.

I smiled even though he couldn't see me. "How did you know I was awake? " I asked, turning my body to Theo's side of the bed. I grabbed his pillow and held it to my body, casually sniffing it and letting his scent calm my nerves.

Even though he wasn't here, my wolf sighed in content at the scent of him.

"I felt you touch your mark," He mind-linked and I could almost picture him smirking. "Glad you like it."

I rolled my eyes yet the smile on my face made no moves to budge.

"I do like it," I responded, inhaling his scent deeper and squeezing his pillow closer to my body. "What I don't like was you leaving without even saying goodbye." I pouted.

"Stop pouting," He said, my eyes widened slightly before I once again rolled my eyes. How did he know I was pouting.

I got to stop doing that, I'm beginning to become predictable.

For a while, Theo and I chatted. He was still on his way to my father's pack, it was a ways away from the Black Dawn territory so he must have left a while ago.

Even though he wasn't with me, I felt bubbly inside simply being able to talk to him-- even if it was via a mind-link.

After I shut my mind-link with Theo, I began to get ready for the day. It was going to be a casual day today, I didn't feel like doing anything spectacular with both Theo, Jack and Lia away on a mission. I wasn't to be a knock away if something was to happen.

As I walked through the Alpha Quarters of the house, I somewhat felt uneased.

The entire section was empty-- despite the fact that it was called the Alpha Quarters, both the Alpha and Beta lived in this area of the house. Obviously both Theo and Grey had gone on their little trip earlier in the morning, it explained the silence slightly.

I couldn't sense Eliza anywhere and assuming that she was simply taking a run from the stress of Grey being gone, I pushed the creeping feeling to the back of my head as my feet led me into the full-stocked kitchen.

I also thought about Faith and how she was nowhere to be seen, but that was nothing new lately. Even since Ella was captured, Faith has been hiding from everyone.

She wasn't scared of everyone, she was ashamed and worried sick about her mate but the only thing she could do is sit and wait-- as I took my time to get to know her, I found out that she wasn't much of a fighter.

I hummed my way through the kitchen, my finger combing through each of the cereal boxes until they landed on the cornflakes.

I don't care what anyone says, plain cornflakes are absolutely delicious.

I continued to hum as I poured my cereal, my stomach grumbling right on time. I turned my back from my bowl and moved to pour myself a cup of coffee, turning on the kettle and letting its loud rumble fill the room.

I leaned back on the island, picking up a random magazine that seemed to have been aimlessly thrown on the table-- maybe a chef or cleaning was reading on their break?

That was another thing that confused me slightly; where was the help?

The kitchen was always stocked with employees during the day, there was always at least one chef at the stove and three helpers with her. Their sudden disappearance left me confused.

I shrugged it off though, I wasn't exactly complaining about being alone in the kitchen. I learnt how to cook at a young age, my mother would always make me watch her cook and would even let me join in when I got old enough. I loved a quiet kitchen, so the silence wasn't as deafening as one would expect.

I flicked through the magazine in my hand as the kettle continued to boil.

Before I could flick onto another page, a scent passed my nose. My head snapped up and my eyes met another-- Kara.

"Kara?" I was beyond shocked. I've never seen her in the Alpha Quarters, I wasn't even aware that she was allowed in these parts-- did the guards not try to stop her? "What are you doing here?" I asked, slightly uneased by her sudden appearance.

She let out a little chuckle, throwing one of her hands in the air as if the wave my question off. "Theo asked me to look after you while he and Kai were away, I guess he thought we could both use the company." Obviously, because Kai was the best Tracker in the pack, he followed along with Theo on his mission.

"Oh," I nodded slowly, confused as to why Theo hadn't mentioned that he sent Kara to see me.

Surely that was something he would bring up.

Regardless, I pulled up a chair next to me and offered it to Kara. She smiled at me before accepting the seat, almost jumping onto it. Both her and Kai were always pretty giddy whenever I saw them.

Before I could I ask another question to her, a beep coming from the kettle behind me echoed through the abnormally large kitchen. Instantly, Kara perked up.

"Oh stop it," She piped up, hold my hand on the table as I went to push off and use the kettle. "Let me do it, you are Luna after all." She smiled at me.

I laughed awkwardly. "I'm not Luna just yet," I corrected her. Again, she waved her hand in the air.

"Potato, Potahto," She giggled to herself, grabbing two mugs from the cabinet.

I turned my body to the side, my waist leaning into the side of the island as I watched Kara carefully-- something still didn't sit well with me.

I couldn't stop thinking, why didn't Theo tell me about sending her? It began eating up my mind so I decided to ask him.

"Why didn't you tell me you asked Kara to spend time with me?" I asked via mind-link, calmly awaiting his response.

"How do you like your coffee?" Kara asked, her back still turned from me as she poured boiling water from the kettle into the mugs.

"Oh no sugars please, I'm trying to quit." I joked, trying to lighten the mood. I didn't know if she could feel it, but I definitely felt out of place at this very moment.

"Oh," She laughed lightly. "Perfect."

As I waited for her to turn and pass me the mug she kindly poured for me, I heard Theo's voice echoing through my head as he responded to my question.

"I didn't?" I froze and my eyes widened slightly at his words, utterly confused. What?

Before I could question anything, Kara spun on her heel with a mug in her hand.

Everything happened so fast, I didn't have any time to register it all.

Within less than a second after she spun, she then flung the mug in my direction. The blazing hot water that was earlier held in the mug now drenched my skin.

Instantly, I screamed. I clutched my burning face and shut my eyes tight while I loudly let out more screams. Even though a Were could heal quickly, it didn't mean they couldn't feel pain.

I could physically feel my skin melting. The agony forced another scream to erupt from me.

Before I could do anything, I almost didn't feel the sharp stab on my neck-- Almost.

After the harsh pinch, I felt on my neck, I quickly lost the ability to move my legs and immediately fell to the ground, my head slamming onto the tiled floors of the kitchen.

My vision began to become blurry, the only thing I could make out was two figures above my body.

"You're harsh, sis." Kai?

What was Kai doing here?

My sight was quickly becoming nothing but darkness as I lost consciousness, using my last second to attempt to contact help.
