《Sang Insane | ✔》Chapter One

"What do you mean, I have to wear that shirt?!" I yell as loud as one can in one's head.

"For your first day back to school, you have to wear something at least slightly normal! Normal teenagers don't wear unicorn shirts!" Sarah retorted.

At this point, Star enters the conversation saying, "Aw, just let Sang where what she wants. People are going to ignore us anyway."

"That's true," Sarah concedes.

I begin to cheer until I realize what they mean.

"I like you guys and all, but I wish other people would talk to us or at least look nicely at us and not be meanies," I pout.

"If they don't acknowledge us, then they won't hurt us," Sarah reminds us.

If you're confused, don't worry! I almost always am!

Sarah and Star live in my mind. My name is Sang Sorenson. Sarah says that she prevents bad things from happening to is, but I think she is boring and strict. Not as strict as my mother, though, thank goodness. Star gets us out of bad situations. Sarah calls her psychotic, I call her crazy fun!

I pull my outfit out and put it on. I am wearing a pink tutu, pink and white striped tights, a pink unicorn t-shirt, and pink sneakers.

If you can't tell, I love, love, looove pink!!!

Star helped me sneak downstairs quieter than a ninja and we were able to avoid Master. My mother was never in a fully good mood.

Okay, that is the understatement of the year. Master is the biggest meanie ever. She likes to hit us. Like a lot.

I shiver remembering her last punishment. She made me drink vinegar and lemon juice, then carved up my back with a paring knife. I didn't know the mailman was gonna talk to me! Master hates it when I talk, especially to men. Something about it being dangerous. And me having an ugly voice.

I pull my pink hair into a bun with my clip while I wait for the bus. I hate my hair and love it at the same time. On one hand, I love how different and cool it is. On the other hand, it is just another thing that makes me weirder than everyone else. My hair changes color with every season. This summer, it was a beautiful bubblegum pink. I wonder what color it will turn this fall.

I start humming as I grow impatient. Marie runs out and smacks me on the head leveling a glare at me for humming. My big sister doesn't like me either. She's especially mad this year since she got held back and is in the same grade level as me. This year we will both be seniors, an idea that makes Marie grumpy for some reason.

I try not to scrunch my nose at what Marie is wearing. A tiny black skirt and a see-through shirt. No pink, and almost no clothes. I tried to teach her about fashion a couple years ago. I still have the scars.

Finally, the bus pulls up and two boys join up at the last minute complaining about North and car troubles. Whatever that means.

"Do they have someone in their head like me?"

Even though she is in my head, I can feel Sarah rolling her eyes at me. "If you would just pay attention! North is obviously a close friend and a mechanic and their car broke down, but he wasn't able to fix it because he is busy with something else."

"Oh."

I look at the two boys. They are new students and good looking too. One has brown hair and grass green eyes behind glasses. He looks a little like a nerd, but he is obviously in shape. His muscles have nothing on the redhead's, though. He looks really athletic.

I turn my head and state out the window for the rest of the ride and talk with Sarah and Star in my head.

***

Yes!! Dryland!

I barely stop myself from kissing the ground. I have been stuck on the bus for the last four years of my life.

"You were on it less than thirty minutes you drama queen," Came Sarah's bossy voice.

"If I were you, I would just be grateful she actually stopped herself from molesting the ground. That would be a great way to start the school year," Star inserts sarcastically.

I skip off through the halls to my locker and dig out my schedule from my sparkly pink backpack.

First Period: Science with Ms. Smith

Second Period: Math with Mr. Welland

Third Period: History with Mr. Toma

Fourth Period: Japanese with Dr. Green

Lunch

Fifth Period: Music with Mr. Blackbourne

Sixth Period: English with Mrs. Heathrow

Seventh Period: P.E. with Mr. Ravenstahl

Wow. I got a bunch of the new teachers. I am really worried about P.E. I liked the old P.E. teacher because he was super nice. Hopefully, the new P.E. teacher will be just as nice. Maybe Mr. Ravenstahl will be a gentle and nice man.

I make my way to Science where I see three new students. I take my seat heavily annoyed at all the walking.

The boy in front of me just stared at me. That makes sense. Most of the people here wear black revealing clothes and slink around. And then there is me.

I wear real clothes in the right color—pink! Plus, I never slink around. I love dramatic entrances. And being dramatic in general.

Instead of making fun of me, though, he smiles and introduced himself, his friendly ocean eyes sparkling. He's really handsome with blonde hair and bright blue eyes that seem to radiate happiness.

"Hi. My name is Corey."

"Hi, Corey! My name is Sang! You're new aren't you?"

"Yep. I just transferred here. These are my friends, Kota and Luke."

I go to introduce myself and interrogate—I mean question—them, but I am cut off by the teacher Ms. Smith.

I close my mouth and doodle on my page not paying a bit of attention to the lesson.

I notice that Kota is the smart looking boy from the bus. Luke is also handsome with long blond hair and brown eyes full of mischief. He might be fun!

Luke appears to be almost vibrating like in a sugar high. I feel a little jealous. The last time I ate was a week ago when Master didn't finish her dinner and didn't throw away the scraps before I could get them. At least I get free lunch and I may or may not steal food sometimes from lockers.

I try to ignore the sharp pains and rumbling from my stomach.

I daydream about the best way to cook a potato as I draw on my paper for notes.

Seriously, who expects us to learn on the first day back?

Apparently, Ms. Smith does. I am snapped out of my unicorn and potato daydream by a test on my desk.

I growl softly. I was having fun! My bestest unicorn friend, Malinda, was about to teach me how to turn into a unicorn by eating sugar. I'll have to try that later...

I let Sarah and Star take over. Less than a minute later, my science quiz is completed. I trudge to the front of the room and hand my quiz to the teacher before sitting back down.

Ah, a good time for a nap!

Corey's POV

I watched as a beautiful girl walked into the room. She looked like someone had a pink attack on her, but her beauty was undeniable. She was tiny with huge green eyes, beautiful pink lips, high cheekbones, and pink hair. It looked natural, but I am no fashion expert, unlike Gabriel. Besides, naturally pink hair? I must've been losing it.

I was pleased to see she was right behind me. I grinned and introduced myself to the adorable girl.

"Hi. My name is Corey," I said grinning widely.

"Hi, Corey! My name is Sang! You're new aren't you?"

She is too cute!

"Yep. I just transferred here. These are my friends, Kota and Luke. "

I pointed Kota and Luke out, but the teacher cut her off. I didn't pay too much attention to the lesson. Because of the mafia, I already knew what the public schools cover. However, I noticed that Sang was not paying attention at all. Instead, she was doodling a rather detailed picture of a unicorn that would impress even Gabriel.

I wondered how she got into this class. This was a highly advanced science course that was only available to seniors. She certainly didn't look like a senior and she wasn't paying attention to the lesson at all. I turned my own attention back to the lesson.

Groans sounded through the classroom as the teacher passed out a quiz. Sang was in a daydream and off in her own world. And I thought Luke was a daydreamer.

Sang seemed to finally snap out of it. Knowing the material, I was able to answer the questions pretty quickly. I was on the last question on the first page, when I hear Sang get up. Turning in my seat once more, I watched as she ambled up to the teachers deal and set her quiz down. Not caring or oblivious to the glares of her classmates, she sat down with her head on her arm and instantly fell asleep.

I exchanged looks with Luke and Kota, each of us speaking with our eyes.

Kota gave me a look that said, "Did she really finish it already?"

I hesitated before nodding.

Luke's brown eyes turned even more mischievous and seemed to tell Kota, "Looks like we finally found someone smarter than you."

Kota rolled his dark green eyes, but a faint blush appeared on his cheeks.

As we turned back to our own tests, I couldn't turn my thoughts away from the bright and beautiful girl who had managed to capture my attention in just less than one class period.

"Wake up Sang!!" Sarah yells.

"I'm up, I'm up!" I yell back. Oops. That was out loud.

My classmates laugh and snicker at me, like normal. My face turns redder than a watermelon slushy as one girl, Jade, says something very mean about me to her friend. I don't think she expected me to be able to hear her, but thanks to Star, all my senses are much better than anyone that I have ever met.

"Thanks a lot, Sarah!" I gripe. "Now they all think I am even weirder."

"Hey, you wanted me to wake you. We need food and now is a fine time to check the lockers," Sarah helpfully reminds me before adding, "Besides, there is no possible way for them to find you even weirder."

"Aww, are you saying that they don't think I am weird?"

"No. I am saying that you are beyond weird in everyone's mind. Including your own. Now, are you going to get some food from the lockers or not?"

At the reminder my stomach clenches, pain shooting through me leaving me dizzy.

I stumble into the hallway and hide in the girls' bathroom until the loud hallways fall silent.

"Why does my stomach hurt so bad?! Tell it to knock it off!"

"Your stupidity is probably making you sick..."

I gasp, "Sarah! Don't be such a meanie!"

"You're hungry! Your stomach is just letting you know it is empty," Sarah explains with a sigh.

"Oh...Bad stomach! Talk with your words, not your fists! Unless you're me and laugh at people who are in pain!"

Sarah facepalms as Star cackles with laughter.

Star helps me walk silently out and into the halls. She quickly used her brainy power to open all the lockers and lock the classes in their rooms. Star is so cool. She doesn't even have to use our hands for things. She makes being lazy super easy.

If you can't tell, we've broken into lockers before. Many, many times.

I look through the lockers for food. Ooh! A bag of chips! I devour it and continue with my search for food. I find a packed lunch and take the pudding out and lick the cup clean before moving on. I finally come across the jackpot!!

I drool looking at it. In the locker is the most glorious sight I've ever seen in my life! It is full of sugary goodness - candies, sodas, and snacks. A note on top reads, 'Stay away, North!!!'

Huh, how strange.

I quickly move on from my thoughts and stuff my backpack full. I normally only take one, maybe two, items so it is less noticeable, but these are clearly irresistible!

I stuff the last chocolate bar in and zip my now bulging backpack closed.

"Stop!" Sarah commands loudly, making me squeal.

"What?!" I cry before slapping a hand over my mouth, remembering that I have to be quiet.

"I will not condone thievery!'

"English please."

Sarah lets out the bestest and most dramatic heavy sigh I have ever heard and says, "You can't just rob some poor student of their food!"

"I'm keeping it! It's too beautiful to lose!" I hiss before stuffing a handful of Skittles in my mouth.

"Fine." I start to cheer but she continues to talk. "Only if I get to dress you for the rest of the year."

I mull it over before consulting my best friend. "Star, is this a good idea?"

"Make her agree that you get to get food as long as she gets to dress you plus you get to skip school for the rest of the day," Star helpfully suggests with an evil grin. You know, if voices in your head had mouths.

"What she said!" I tell Sarah.

For some reason, this makes Sarah sigh again. But that's okay because she agreed!

I swagger out of school as I reach a sugar high and Star locks the lockers and opens the classes once more.
