《Love In Hell (D.D.)》1.19 We Are Infected

We were all standing around Dale's grave.
Dad "Dale..Dale can get under your skin.Sure got under mine, because ehe wasn't afraid to say exactly what he thought, how he felt. That kind of honestly is rare and brave. Whenever i had to make a decision, i looked at Dale, he looked back at me with that look he had. we've all seen it one time or another. i couldn't always read him but he could read us. He saw people for who they were. He knew things about us...the truth... how we really are. In the end he was talking about losing out humanity. He said this group is broken. The best way to honor him is to unbreak it. Set aside our differences... all together. stop feeling sorry for ourself.... take control of our lifes...our safety... our future. We're not broken. We're gonna proof him wrong. From now on, we are gonna do it his way. That is how we honor Dale."
---------.
We were all standing by the cars.
Dad to Hershel "it will be tight. 14 people in one house."
Hershel shook his head "don't worry abut it."
Andrea "with 50 heads of cattle on the property, we might as well be ringing the damn dinner bell. "
Hershel nodded "she's right. We should've moved you in a while ago. "
Dad nodded "Alright, let's move the cars and the bike near each of the doors, in direction of the road. ..."
I looked around.
Dad "Kendall, did you hear anything i said?"
I shook my head.
Dad "i need you and Daryl on double duty"
I nodded "alright"
Daryl got on his bike and the others in the cars and did what dad told them.
------
Dad had called me to the porch.

He and Daryl were standing there.
Dad "Take him out to Senoia....one hour there...one hour back. Take him and leave him. You may lose the light but you will be halfway home by midnight. "
I nodded "sounds good"
Dad "Carol has put together some supplies for him, enough to for a few days."
Then it went silent.
Dad "That thing you did last night... "
Daryl shook his head"there's no reason for you to do all the shit work"
Dad nodded "so you are all good with all this?"
Shane walked to us.
Me "Daryl, you have a second?"
He looked at me and nodded.
We walked away to the truck.
Daryl "need something?"
Me "You told Dale about me"
Daryl nodded "yes"
Me "I told you i didn't want anyone to know"
Daryl "he wanted to safe that kid. Wanted to see if he would still safe him after that story"
I sighed.
Daryl walked past me but i held him back.
Me "Wait"
He stopped.
I took his gun out and held it out to him.
Daryl raised an eyebrow "Where did you get that one?"
Me "Carl stole it from your bike"
Daryl sighed pissed off.
Me "He asked me if i could give it to you"
Daryl raised an eyebrow "Why you?"
Me "Because he has this theory"
Daryl raised and eyebrow "What theory?
I shrugged "a silly one"
he nodded "alright. Thanks for the gun"
Dad came to us "ready?"
Daryl nodded"yeah"
T-Dog showed up "look what i found"
He had a gun in his hand.
Daryl took it "is that Dale's?"
T-Dog nodded "yeah"
We walked to the truck. Daryl put his crossbow on the back. The supplies were already in the back.

Me "i'll get him"
Dad "Thanks"
I walked to the barn "Today is you lucky day, asshole"
Then I opened the lock of the barn and walked inside.
he was gone.
I yelled to the others "He's gone"
Daryl, Dad and T- Dog ran to me. The others came. I looked around and saw Shane by the woods.
Me "the fuck?"
I saw him hiding something under the leaves.
Then he yelled "Rick! Rick!"
Mom asked shocked "What happened?"
Shane walked to us with a bleeding nose "he is armed! he got my gun!"
Mom asked worried "you okay?"
Shane "i'm fine. Little bastard hit me in the face"
Rick "Alright, Hershel, T-Dog, get everyone back into the house. Ken, Daryl, Glenn come with us"
Everyone was doing what he was told.
I held Daryl back.
He looked at me "What now, girl?"
Me "Something doesn't feel right. Shane can't be trusted"
Daryl rolled his eyes "no shit"
Carol "just let him go. That was the plan, wasn't it?"
Rick "the plan was set him free somewhere else. Not let him run around armed. Now, everybody in the house, close the doors and stay put"
We began to walk into the woods.
Shane "I followed him into the woods before i blacked out. I'm not sure how many miles. "
Rick shook his head "he couldn't have gotten far. He's exhausted and hurt."
Glenn added "and armed"
Rick "so are we"
Then he looked at Daryl "Can you track him?"
Daryl looked around, shaking his head "no. i see nothin'"
Shane "Look, i know how to track, okay?. He went that way. We pair up and chase him down."
I raised and eyebrow "That kid's built like a 15 years old and you are telling us he knocked you out?"
Shane "With a rock? yes. "
Rick "knock it off. pair up. Daryl, Glenn, you go right. Ken, Shane, come with me"
I shook my head "Hell no. i would rather be with walkers alone in the woods than with Shane. Besides, don't tell me you're believing his shit"
Dad warned "Kendall"
Me "No, trust me on this one, he is playing with you"
Shane "Shut up, Kendall"
I growled "I'm so close to lose my shit right now, Shane. And so help me god, i will stick my knife so far up your ass so that it will come out of your mouth"
Shane looked taken back.
Dad cleared his throat "Alright, guys!. Remember, Rendall is not the only threat out there"
Then we separated us.
I was walking through the woods, following Dad and Shane. They had no idea i was following them. Shane lead Dad back to the field, still by the woods. Suddenly i saw Shane pointing a gun at Dad. I couldn't made out what they were saying but then Dad pointed with his gun at Shane. I slowly made my way behind Shane.
Suddenly Dad shot him in the stomach.
My jaw dropped " Dad?"
He looked at me. Shocked.
Dad "Ken i-i-i"
Suddenly Carl showed up "Dad?"
Dad was speechless. He made his way to Carl but he pointed his gun at Dad.
Suddenly i heard a groan. I looked next to me and saw Shane standing up. Dead.
Me "Oh my god"
I took my gun out and shot him in the head. He fell down to my feet.
My eyes went wide.
Dad ran to me.
Shane wasn't bit. There was no way he should've turned into a walker.
My jaw dropped when it hit me
"We're infected".

Badass
At the end of everything, Taylor Hebert realized something. She didn't want to be a superhero. No, she wanted to be a badass. And then her prayers were answered. Imbued with the power of mimetic badassery and the ability to channel a different real-life badass every week, she set out in search for all the best things in life - well, according to Conan, at least. Modeling herself after Conan have been a mistake. Join her on her high-octane, pulp-fiction journey for vengeance, adventure, victory and mayhem. This isn't just uncensored. It's anti-censored! =========================== (Worm/Fate/Badass of the Week) Warning: crack-taken-seriously, over-the-top pulp-fiction style violence, overpowered protagonist, banned on two other sites. Hell, even the light-hearted omake jokes in this were considered too subversive to persist. ============================ AN: There’s this really, really excellent website called Badass of the Week. I’ve wasted many an hour browsing through, marveling at all the crazy shit some humans are capable of. Check it out, then come back and read this in a few days when the awesome starts to wear off. It’s worth it (all 576 entries). Back? Good! Anyways, I was looking through it recently while thinking about who I wanted to make expy’s of for my The Flying Dutchman quest ship captains (which now languishes in indefinite hiatus), and I had this idea. What if Taylor, wanting to be a badass, triggered with the power to be a different Badass every week? With a bit of Fate-style ability to draw on the tools associated with the legend (but to a just marginally less ridiculous degree), and a drive and aura to be and do badass? And thus, Badass was born in it’s somewhat cracky glory. Enjoy.

Rage: Crisis / Consequence / ???
Its been ten years since Seth was given his powers, ten years since his town was driven mad by that very same power, and ten years since its source was shunted into his head. A species of energy beings, a people filled with regret for what their entrance onto this world caused. Regret for the deaths that town perpetuated, the devastation they brought, the blow they served to the once proud heroes of this world. Heroes Seth now hopes to join, hopes to heal and atone to for what transpired. But their wounds run deep, their ire sharp, and their acceptance thin. And to top it all off... Seth's power is run far deeper than he knows, and sees his world in a light all its own. This series is my first foray into authoring, with two parts out of at best four if the readership stands. But part three will still book end nicely otherwise. And I'm not stopping till then. It is action heavy with varied and ramping up fight scenes through out. (Book 1 is heavy / Book 2 a little lighter) It is bloody in places, mildly gory in others, and heavily gory in simulated places. Nothing truly horrifying, I think, but be warned. It has trauma. PTSD is a major part of the story, but I will never trust that I got it completely right, so your mileage may vary on how believable or impactful it is. Lastly it has language. Swearing ebbs and flows as the story progresses and attitudes harden or soften. Sometimes bleeding through into the narration... somehow.
