《Love In Hell (D.D.)》1.7 "Sophia!"

We have been driving for days now and it was annoying me.
After a couple of miles our truck had broken down so Daryl and i had to take the motorcycle. I had my arms around his torso. it was still strange because neither of us has made any effort to talk about our night together but hey...no regrets.
After a while we got on a highway but it was blocked with cars.
Everywhere were cars!
Daryl stopped the and turned around with the bike. The caravan stopped.
He stopped by Dale's driver side.
Dale drove down the window "See a way through?"
Daryl shrugged and turned around and tried to drive through the cars. we slowly lead the caravan through the mess of cars.
Me "There is no way through"
Daryl drove through till we heard a crazy noise. he stopped the bike. I got off and looked around. The RV was smoking under the hood. again.
I sighed "The RV is dead. again"
Shane walked to me and shook his head "Don't say that"
Dale "I said it. Sooner or later it had to happen"
I added "again"
Daryl opened a car trunk and took some candy out.
Me "We could search for food and water. I mean, this is a graveyard but still..."
Daryl took some gummy bears out.
I looked at him "Those are mine so don't even think about eating them, Dixon"
He looked at me and threw the gummy bears at me. I sat down on the bike and opened the pack.
Then I started to eat some.
I looked around "hey, Carl"
He looked at me.
I took one bear out and threw it at him "Catch"
He caught it with his mouth.
Sophia cheered. I walked around and searched for something useful.
I was walking next to Daryl.
Suddenly i heard a moaning and groaning.
I looked around alarmed and saw a few walkers tripping through the "graveyard".

My eyes widened when i realized that those few belonged to a herd "Daryl"
He looked at me and saw the walkers too. Behind him i saw how T-Dog sliced his arm on a car window.
I nudged Daryl "D."
He looked at me and i nodded at T-Dog.
Then he looked at the walkers and then at T-Dog.
Daryl whispered "get under the car. Now"
I nodded and rolled underneath a car and held my knife close.
i saw the walkers passing by. Hopefully the others got to safety under the cars before the herd got them.
-
The herd was over.
I rolled out and got up. I put my knife back on my belt. Everyone was standing on the side of the road. Shocked.
Carol was crying.
I asked confused "What happened?"
Carl "Sophia ran into the woods"
My jaw dropped "What?"
Carl "Dad went after her"
I was going to ran after her but someone held me back.
Daryl.
I snapped "Let me go"
Daryl shook his head "no way"
I broke free and ran in the woods.
Then I jumped over a river.
I saw a walker and rammed a knife in its head from behind.
Dad killed the other one.
Me "Dad!"
Dad asked confused "What are you doing here?"
Me "looking for Sophia. What are you doing here?"
Dad "looking for Sophia. I told her to wait for me by the river "
I shook my head, confused "no, you didn't"
Dad nodded "of course i did"
I shook my head "No, dad, you didn't"
He asked confused "what?"
Me "I just jumped over the river. No one was there"
Dad ran past me to the river. I followed him.
He was looking around.
Me "she isn't here anymore"
Dad growled "Damn it"
Me "Stay here. I'll get Daryl"
Dad nodded" hurry"
I ran back to the highway.

Then I saw the others.
I stopped when i was with them and took a deep breath "Daryl, we need your help"
Daryl asked confused "why?"
Me "Stop asking and come with me"
He grabbed his crossbow and we rushed back to the river.
We saw Dad and stopped.
Me "and?"
He shook his head.
Me "crap"
Daryl looked around "sure you left her here?"
Dad "Yeah. I lead the walkers in that direction"
He pointed in a direction.
Me "She was gone when i jumped over the river. She must have had ran away shortly after you left"
Dad "I told her to keep the sun on her right shoulder and go back to the group"
--
Glenn and Shane had come to made sure no walkers came to us.
Daryl "hey, short round! Make sure you stay on one side, you're messing up the tracks"
Me "I'm going back to the highway. Try to calm them down"
They nodded.
Then I started to walk through the woods. I froze when I heard a noise and turned around.
A walker was eating something. I took my knife out and threw it at his head.
It got stuck in his skull and he fell to the ground. Then I looked at what it was eating. All I saw was a fluffy tail, must have been a squirrel .
Suddenly I heard running noises and turned around.
I called out "Sophia!"
Then i ran in one direction and saw footprints in the mud. Small feet. Like the ones from a little girl.
I yelled "Sophia!"
Then I ran a little further and screamed "Sophia!"
The sun was going down and in the woods it seemed like it was already dark.
I sighed and walked back to the highway.
----
The others were already there, waiting for me.
Carl ran to me and hugged me.
Dad "Where the hell were you?"
My throat was dry and I cracked out "I-I-"
Shane threw me a water bottle and i downed it.
I was breathing hard.
Carol walked to me "Where were you? Did you find her? What happened?"
Daryl "Let the girl catch some breath, woman."
He leaned next to me on the car hood. I leaned my head on his shoulder trying to calm down. of course some of them noticed but they kept their mouths shut.
I took a deep breath "I was on my way back but then i heard a noise. A walker. I cut his head through and then i heard noises. Running noise. I ran in one way and saw footprints in the mud. "
Carol asked hopefully "you saw her?"
I shook my head "It was too dark. Could've been anything. "
Mom asked irritated "So you left her in the woods?!"
I snapped "It was too dark. And i was alone!"
Carol got angry "You let my daughter alone in the woods?"
Daryl " Car-"
I held a hand up "Daryl, don't. "
Now i was getting pissed off.
Me "You listen to me, both of you, i was risking my ass out there. A 21 year old girl was alone in the woods with walkers. "
Carol "She is still a child"
i asked irritated" do you think I don't know that, woman?! hm?!"
Mom "Do you remember where the footprints were?"
I sighed "Like i said, it was too dark."
Carol breathed out "Great!"
Me "I was out there looking for YOUR child. I was risking MY life. And what were you two doing? hm? Sitting HERE on your ASSES waiting for us to bring her back. She is your daughter, so look for her yourself. She's not my fucking responsibility!"
She looked at me in tears.
I walked away through the highway. I heard footsteps behind me.
Daryl " she is crying. again. Thanks to you."
I turned to him "you sound like I should care"
Daryl "She is blaming Rick, too"
I sighed and drove a hand through my hair "You think we'll find her?"
Daryl nodded "i do"
