《The Dragon Within(HTTYD)》Twenty-one

We follow close behind the trio until we reached the gate. The dragons above paid no mind for they were in a hurry.
"We strike at dawn!" Calls out Stoick.
The warriors cheered in response making the sea ripple. We continued to follow the trail of reptiles into the mist where jagged rocks waited. Using the dragons movements as our guide it was easy to pass through the maze.
Soon we were on the beach of a island. Its atmosphere made me feel uncomfortable. Looking up at the mountain wondering how my son was able to live here for fifteen years. I was then eager to stop this war so he would finally settle on Berk and live a normal life with hos true family.
........................................................
I woke up to not the cold hard ground of the cave, but warmth of a sleeping Hiccup. His arms were wrapped around my waist keeping me safe and secure. We lay under the wing of Toothless who too was deep in sleep. Looking back at the Haddack boy,I noticed he had long eye lashes and light scratches on random places of his face. One stood out from the rest. It was on the corner of his chin,it was older, a scar. He must've been pretty young when he got this. I couldn't help but examine him some more to playing with his surprisingly smooth hair.
He shifts at my action causing him to pull me closer. Hiccup smelt of soot and flames mixed in with the ocean. I wonder where he's traveled to. I envied him for being able to travel across the archipelago while I had to stayed on the island with no adventures to tell. Then again if I were able to back then it would've been able to kill dragons. Now, I see a different light in dragons if not for Hiccup.
For the next few minutes Hiccup's eyes flutter open. We stare at one another with not saying a word. He stares with a blank expression until I found myself underneath him. I yelp in surprise but don't keep my eyes off him. Our breaths mix together, are bodies burning, and our heart's beat in the same rhythm. Hiccup inches close to my lips.

Move Astrid!
Don't, let him!
You don't want this guy!
You really want this guy!
My heart and mind argue back and forth. He was almost there and I don't want him to stop.
Closer...
Closer...
Closer...
The den shakes violently as rocks fall from the ceiling. Hiccup wraps himself around me as Toothless shields us from rubble falling on top of us. Cries of the reptiles echoes through the tunnels in panic.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"I don't know." Hiccup replies.
Once all died down, Hiccup jumps from the nest and grasp his weapons. He tossed me an shield and axe while motioning me to climb on Toothless. He climbs on soon after and we were flying through the tunnels into the throne room. All was empty. All but the pit that held the queen. A light not far away shows were the commotion was coming from. There in the man made hole stood Stoick the Vast. Around the hole were the dragons whom suddenly flies away in a hurry.
Was that all it took?
"Fool." Hiccup whispers before telling Toothless to hurry out.
Below the queen was emerging from her pit. Indeed she was a massive monster. Odin help us all.
.......................................................
They were fools to come here. Once ourside there was an armada stationed on the beach. They were cheering as if they have won the battle.
"Get out of here!" I call out but it was too late her highness has full emerged from the mountain. They just sealed their death by coming here.
I could see the teens I've been training accompanied by their scaly companions. We fly over to them.
"Okay, I'll need you to distract her. Do what ever you can. I need to think of a plan."
They do so while tried to het everyone back on the boats but noticed it was no use. The queen was sending fire at the ships so they couldn't escape.
Not while I'm here! I growl up to her.
As expected you are a traitor!
The other dragon riders begin to distract her when I notice that she had wings. I wonder. I thought.

What are you thinking Night? Toothless asks.
We got to get her up in the air.
I got it.
Toothless speeds towards her sending plasma blasts at her face. This of course angered her as she roars up at us. I taunt her to follow us into the sky which she did.
Her wings were massive and strong as she flies into the sky. Clouds filled the sky making a great cover up. We disappear into the water vapers irritating the queen. She searches for us,calling us out. She even tries to use her control on us to bring us out of hiding. No more. I am tired of being controlled. Both of us.
Toothless shoots his blasts at her as we circle around her in different angles.
That was the final straw for her. She slings like a typhoon letting out raging flames. Those flames burn my brothers artificial tail causing us to lose altitude.
Think Think Think Night! For once use that brain of yours! Toothless calls out as we fall.
I'm trying with all my might to think of a way to not die and to exterminate the queen. She was closing in on us with a wide grin. She is readying her flames when it hit me.
Years ago when we were exploring the islands, I learned that dragons may be fire proof on the outside but their insides are more sensitive. I learned this from Toothless and a terror, who were fighting over fish.
Flipping Toothless to face the beast I have him ready his plasma blast. Luckily for us, Night Furies never miss.
The queen roars as flames begin to emerge.
Toothless and I call out as he released a plasma blast larger than usual.
It all happened so fast when our fire enters her. She cries out in pain as her flame and ours collide. The flames erupt within her as it consumes her entire being. Toothless and I hurry to escape the raging explosion when suddenly we fly into her tail. At the impact I black out instantly.
.........................................................
I watch with pride as I witnessed my son take on the beast. He was indeed my son. Then the explosion made me panic. The demons corpse falls in a ball of fire before becoming ash. Valka and I search for our son, calling him out. Every one joins in even the dragons.
I then understood why he couldn't leave them behind. He was part of their kin. We've killed so many of them without giving them a chance.
As the smoke clears I find a black figure amongst the corpse. It was the Night Fury. Valka runs ahead of me ,both of us hoped he was alight. All that was there was the dragon with a burned melted tail fin. I kneel near the beast seeing that it was alive. Valka cries against my back. We lost him again. I thought as my heart ached.
"Thank you." I whisper to the beast who gained its consciousness. "Thank you for being there for him."
It purrs in response. Slowly it parts its wings to reveal our son. I pull him towards me as whirling my helmet to the side. I press my ears against his chest and listen for a heart beat. I cry out a sigh of relief. He's was alive.
I thank the beast for saving him until Gobber mentions he didn't save all of him. Looking down was a sad sight. His left leg was burned deeply to the point you could see bone. Right away Gobber had to operate on him as we sailed home.
The Night Fury stayed outside the operation room while Valka accompanied him. Valka wanted to be by his side but Gobber said she'd only distract him from his work.
"Don't worry love. Hiccup will be fine, once he is well rested you can dolt on him as much as you like."
"If he'll give me that chance." She says.
"He'll come around ." I say sitting next to her. "It'll take a while to get used to. Give him some time." She lays her head on my shoulder with a "your right" and rests her eyes to wait for the operation to be over.
