I sat on the back of toothless, Hiccup sitting in front of me. He looked over at his shoulder at me. "You ready?" He asked. I nodded with a smile.

Before I knew it we were taking off into the sky. I held on to the straps on the side of toothless' saddle to keep myself from flying backwards, but as soon as we were gliding in the air I let go. Hiccup looked back at me,

"I'm surprised you aren't hanging on." He said to me".I scoffed "Me? Hang on? Do you know who you're talking to?" I joke. We both laugh.

"I have a nightfury, I can keep my balance, see." I got up on my knees on toothless' back and spread my arms like I was flying. Hiccup laughed as I got back down onto toothless' back.

"Even Ruff could do that." Hiccup said jokingly. "I would do something else but someone broke my leg!" I playfully punched him in the arm. He pouted "ouch."

We both laugh.

I look out past the clouds, my mind now on Nightshade. Where could have she run off too? Last time she was alone, it didn't end well.

"Everything alright?" Hiccup asked, clearly seeing I was deep in thought.

"They had her tied up hiccup."

He tilted his head in confusion. "What?"

"Last time I left nightshade alone, my village captured her, they tried her down in the middle of the town. They whipped her, beat her, she still has scars from that day. I've never left her alone since. That's why she ran away before you shot us down. She's scared of people. All because of my father." A few tears fell down my face.

Hiccups face was full of sadness, surprise and disbelief. I herd toothless make soft cooing noises, as if he was sad too.

"Y/n, I'm so sorry that happened. But nobody here would hurt a dragon."

All I did was nod, another tear fell down my face remembering as the images flashed through my head. But then I felt someone's arms wrap around me, hugging me. I knew it was hiccup. I rested my head on his chest for a second. "Thanks hiccup."

"For what?"

"For letting me get that off my chest, I've never had somebody I can talk to before."

Hiccup pulled away from the hug, then looked me in the eyes. It seemed like an eternity had passed, looking into his forest green eyes.

"You can always talk to me y/n."

I smile slightly and nod. "Let's just get to Changewing island. The sooner we get there, the sooner we can find Nightshade.

~time skip~

We land on Changewing island and hiccup hops off toothless. I get ready to come off too but Hiccup stops me. "Wait, you stay on toothless. It'll be faster. Now, where does Phyro usually go?" Hiccup asked.

I thought for a second. He loves the sand, and also finding metal that washes up on the beaches. "I think we should check the beach first." Hiccup nodded. "Alright, let's go."

We reach the beach and I see holes everywhere. "That's weird." I mumble and guide toothless over to one of the holes. Toothless makes small noises to hiccup then looked back up at me.

"They're not whispering death holes, these were dug by a dragon." Then it hits me.

Nightshade! I found her curled up in a ball on the beach. But she was in a hole. She must do that when she's lost!

I turn toothless and make him run along the beach. "Y/n, wait!" Hiccup calls after us. Me and toothless round the corner of the beach. And there sitting in a hole, was my dragon.

"Nightshade!"
