Excuse any mistakes!
"Chain, Chain, Chain. Chain of fools." Jordyn and I danced around my living room. I was watching her for the moment while Zae was at work. Apparently, his parents and brother had to work. His mom didn't seem happy with me watching her but didn't quite have a choice.
"For five long years. I thought you were my man. But I found out, love. I'm just a link in your chain."
"Take it away, Jordyn."
"You got me where you want me. I ain't nothing but your fool. You treated me mean. Oh, you treated me cruel." She belted out so perfectly.
I screamed excitedly throwing my head back. This girl had a voice on her. She smiled and continued to sing. I watched in complete awe.
"SING IN JORDYN!" My head snapped in the direction of the door seeing Lilo. She had her phone out recorded the whole thing. I laughed turning down the music.
"Why didn't you tell us you could sing like that?"
"I don't know." She shrugged. "You didn't tell me."
"Okay, you have a point but Zae told you. You sounded like a completely different person. Almost like a grown woman."
"You could blow with that voice." Lilo said making me agree.
"I don't think so." She sat on the couch sadly.
"Why not?"
"Nobody wants to work with a blind girl."
"Don't say that. Anybody would be happy to work with someone like you. Just because you have a disability doesn't make you anything less than a person. It makes you stronger than the rest and different."
"I am strong." She smiled.
"You are and don't let anyone tell you differently."
"We all are." Lilo said pulling us both into a hug. She was always trying to make me soft.
"Stop with the sap shit." She laughed. "How was your day at work?"

"Tiring, my feet are killing me."
"I bet, you're 7 months pregnant." She found a job at the bank, working as an accountant. I told her she didn't have to but she insisted.
"It'll get better. I'm about to take a shower and lay down. You two don't have too much fun."
"What do you want to do now?"
She shrugged. "I don't know. I'm out of options."
"Me too." We sat in silence for a while before I felt her start to feel on my face. "What are you doing?"
"I'm feeling on your face. I want to get a feel of what you look like. You have a really soft face. Do you get facials?"
I laughed. "I've got one before. Why do you want to get one?"
"That will be fun."
"Then we can go together." She squealed and continued feeling around my face. It felt kinda weird but I had no choice other than to let her finish.
"You have really full lips. I can tell you're beautiful."
I smiled. "Thank you. You're beautiful as well."
"Really?" She questioned in a surprised tone. I twisted my lips to the side.
"You don't know what you look like?"
"No, I lost my sight around 3 years old. I don't remember anything except what my mom describes for me."
"She's right, she wouldn't lie to you. You have the most beautiful hair, skin, everything."
"That makes me feel better." She leaned on my shoulder closing her eyes. I felt a certain sadness for her. It was a sad situation. I wish there was something I could do. "Can you sing again?"
"Okay, what?"
"More Aretha Franklin." I think she was my soulmate. She knew a lot of songs you wouldn't think kids would listen too, but she did. I thought of a song before shaking my head. I cleared my throat humming the melody.

"There's an old friend that. I once heard say, something that touched my heart and it began this way. I was born by the river, in a little tent and just like the river. I've been running ever since."
I looked down seeing her fast asleep. I brushed her hair and continued singing.
"He said it's been a long time coming. But I know my change is gonna come." I placed the blanket over her body. A knock at the door made me get up. I opened the door revealing a tired-looking Zae.
"Hey." I spoke softly stepping aside for him to walk in. He nodded his head at me looking at Jordyn.
"She seemed like she had a fun time."
"We did." I laughed slightly. "How was your day at work?"
He didn't say anything making me confused. I watched him go over to Jordyn getting on his knees. He kissed her forehead repeatedly whispering something. I touched him and he turned his head looking at me. I could see tears building up in his eyes.
"What wrong, Zae?" I took his hand helping him up and going into my room locking the door. "Tell me now."
"Fuck." He sniffed looking at the wall. "I lost my job."
When he said that out loud he broke down. I wasn't good with other people's emotions but when I cried he helped me, so I knew I had to do the same. I wrapped my arms around him tightly, laying my head on his chest listening to his heartbeat rapidly.
"I can't do this shit man. I've tried everything and nothing seems to be working. The drug money, not enough. The studio money, not enough. My parent's checks, not enough. Nothing is ever good enough." He was speaking in code but I knew what he needed.
"What is it you need help with?"
He shook his head. "I'm not asking you for nothing."
"You're not asking me anything, I'm asking you. Tell me what you need the money for."
"Jordyn wants surgery to fix her eyesight. My whole family and I have been saving money but that shit is expensive. I've tried founding ways to get money quicker because there is a waiting list. They put her number one and the surgery will be in a couple of months but we don't have the money."
"How much is it?" I asked. I was just wishing for a way I could help, now this.
"Why?"
"Zae, answer the damn question."
He huffed. "$150,000."
"Damn, okay."
"Okay? What are you talking about? You can't possibly have that much money." He looked at me confused.
"I do, I'll give you the money."
"Nah, I'm not letting you do that. I'll found a way to sell my studio."
"That place is your dream."
"My sister deserves happiness."
"We had a talk while you were at work and she told me she doesn't even know what she looks like. She can't enjoy the good things in life. She has to enjoy others' enjoyment. The way she expressed her feelings crushed my heart. I want to help her. She is special to me. Don't think of this for you but for her. She deserves happiness."
"Man." He mumbled shaking his head once again. I could see more tears building up in his eyes. "Who are you?"
"Luna Hogan. Remember it, baby." I smiled wiping his face.
"I appreciate the fuck outta you. I'll found a way to pay you back." He pecked my lips.
"It's a gift. But you can give me photoshoots whenever I want."
"Deal." He picked me throwing me on the bed. He gripped my face kissing me passionately. I pulled back mugging him.
"You're turning me into a soft bitch."
"That's a good thing."
"No, it's not. I'm a gangster out here in these streets. You better recognize."
"Yeah aight." He licked my cheek laughing.
"Ewww."

Unwitting Champion
"In stories this is always easy. There's magic and powers, and quick steps to claiming that power for one's self. This doesn't feel true for me. I'm supposed to be a Champion, whatever that means, and yet I don't feel important. I don't have all the bells and whistles, which honestly feels familiar even in a new world. But what was I expecting? I haven't had the worst life - there are people with worse problems than mine - I've known what it is to struggle, to be pulled down instead of being helped up.This is nothing new."When in great peril, the Kingdom of Althor has no choice but to send a call into the void, beseeching the Fates to bring them a man who would save them from the coming darkness. Unfortunately the path the Fates chart is often unknowable to men and the Champion who appears is not what the kingdom expected.Unwitting Champion is a story of a guy displaced, dealing first and foremost with trying to survive in a world where he is no longer a person but a tool, and - at least from the reaction of those around him - a shoddy one at that. His major goal is to survive long enough that either he can run or find a way home, because as exciting as the possibility of learning magic might be, he would rather have a boring life than a short life.
