A shot rang through the woods as Raven pulled her nephew behind her after noticing a sniper in the woods. They had both been admiring a buck when they were shot. It was like time froze for Shane and Rick as they watched the ones they loved bleed out.

"Help Carl." Raven said before falling to the ground. Rick ran to his son's side as Shane ran to his sister's side.

"No. No. God. No!" Rick said, holding his son in his arms. Shane got a shotgun ready to go when he heard someone come out of the bushes. A bigger man said there was a farm with a doctor about a mile from where they were. Rick ran holding his son in his hands. Shane was carrying his sister.

"Hey, you move, shithead. Come on. Get us there!" Shane yelled at the bigger man who had shot his sister and the poor child.

"How far? How far?!" Rick yelled at the fat man who was trying to catch his breath.

"Another half mile that way. Hershel. Talk to Hershel. He'll help your boy. And your girlfriend." The man said to Rick and Shane. Rick ran off like a bullet and Shane made sure the fat man didn't leave his sights. He knew his sister well and that she wouldn't give up, not that easy.

"I'm sorry." The man said to Shane as he grabbed his arm dragging him along with him. The five of them ran through a field with two bleeding people. Rick was first to the farm house as an old man, a couple young girls, one teenage boy with a baseball bat, and one older woman, stepped out onto the front porch.

"Was he bit?" The older man said.

"Shot. By your man. There's another one my sister. She's coming up with her brother." Rick answered, holding onto his boy for dear life.

"Otis?" The older lady said.

"He said,'' Find Hershel.'' Is that you?" Rick asked, frantically panicking as the group walked over to meet up with Rick.

"Help me. Help my boy." Rick begged.

"Get him inside. I'll help him first then her." Hershel said looking up to see Otis and Shane running up to the gate holding Raven.

"Patricia, I need my full kit." Hershel said to the older lady as he rolled up his sleeves and entered the house.

"Maggie, painkillers, coagulates...grab everything. Clean towels, sheets, alcohol. In here." He said to the girl with the brown bob hair cut and took Rick to a bed where he laid Carl down.

"Pillowcase." Hershel said out loud.

"Is he alive?" Rick asked Hershel. Rick was scared for his son's life. Just as Hershel started to help Rick's son. Shane, Otis, and Raven came down to the house.

"Is he alive? Is he still alive?" Otis asked Rick, and he nodded.

"Shane, get Raven inside." Rick said as Shane handed him a rag to wipe off all the blood.

"Where do you want her?" Shane said coming in.

"Upstairs. Maggie showed him." Hershel said as he started to help save Carl. Shane sat Raven down on a bed and started to pace. Maggie checks her pulse.

"She's got a pulse. That's good but we need something to stop the bleeding." She said running down the stairs.

Shane walked outside to see Rick sitting on the porch with Carl's blood still on his face. Shane sat down, took the rag from Rick and poured some water on it. He then started to help Rick wipe away the blood.

"You got blood, man." Shane said, helping out his brother. Rick was in shock still from what just happened. Shane wasn't too phased by his sister being shot. Wasn't the first time she had almost died but this time it was different because she wasn't halfway around the world. Rick and Shane walked back into the house and found Carl pale as a ghost still passed out on the bed.

"You know his blood type?" Hershel asked.

"A-positive, same as mine." Rick answered.

"That's fortunate. Don't wander far. I'm gonna need you." Hershel said to Rick holding a pillow case against Carl's side.

"What happened?" Hershel asked Otis who was standing on the other side of the room.

"I was tracking a buck. Bullet went through it, hit that lady and I guess went through her and hit him. Went clean through." Otis said, still in shock looking at the boy on the bed.

"The deer and that girl upstairs slowed the bullet down, which certainly saved his life. But it did not go through clean. It broke up into pieces. If I can get the bullet fragments out... and I'm counting six. In him at least. I don't know about her." Hershel said, looking at the boy's wound.

"I never saw them, not until he was on the ground along with the buck. She collapsed last." Otis said, hugging his wife Patricia.

"Lori doesn't know." Rick said, looking at Shane.

"My wife doesn't know. My wife doesn't know." Rick said over and over as Shane grabbed Rick trying to calm his best friend down. Rick started to cry and Shane kept telling him that they would go get her and bring her here to see her son. Rick was pacing and panicking so Shane dragged him out of the room. They walked up the stairs and checked on Raven. Shane sat down next to Raven putting pressure on her wound. She groaned in pain but she didn't wake up.

"Come on Raven. You're stronger than one simple gun shot. Please wake up." Shane bagged. Rick walked over to him and placed his hand on his shoulder.

"Come on Shane let's see when Hershel is going to get to her." Rick said and Shane nodded and walked down stairs. They sat in the living room listening to the faint ticking of the clock. Their thoughts now give each of them doubts.

"Why'd I let him come with us?" Rick asked out loud, not really looking for an answer.

"I should have sent him with Lori." He continued as he beat himself up over it.

"You know, you start that, you'll never get that money off your back. You don't see me blaming myself for Raven." Shane said to him.

"Little girl goes missing, you look for her. Simple. You said, ''Call it, head back." Rick kept saying.

"Doesn't matter what I said." Shane told him.

"Carl got shot because I wouldn't cut bait. It should be me in there." Rick said, continuing to beat himself up. Shane chuckled,

"You've been there, partner. Right? And you pulled through. So will he." Shane said both of them kind of forgot about the girl upstairs slowly bleeding out.

"Is that why I got out of that hospital? Found my family, for it to end here like this? This some kind of sick joke?" Rick said getting himself worked up.

"You stop it. Just stop." Shane said, now getting frustrated with Rick.

"A little girl goes missing...You look for her. It's plain and simple." Rick said looking off into space. They were cut off by Maggie opening the door.

"Rick...he needs blood." Maggie told him. Carl laid on the bed crying and groaning in pain as Hershel was pulling bullet fragments out of the young boy. Shane walked in and Hershel looked at him.

"You, hold him down." Shane looked scared but he ran to the boy and held him down.

"I got him." Shane told Hershel.

"DAD!!" Carl screamed out in pain.

"Almost there." Hershel said as he went in for the fragments deeper into the boy. Patricia was prepping Rick for a blood transfusion. Carl was screaming bloody murder.

"Stop! You're killing him!" Rick yelled at Hershel.

"Rick, do you want him to live?" Hershel yelled at Rick still digging around inside the boy.

"He needs blood." Patricia told Rick.

"Do it now!" Shane yelled at Rick. Patricia put the IV into Rick's arm and got ready for the transfusion. At that moment Carl stopped crying and passed out.

"Wait. Wait. Hey." Shane said, almost crying.

"He just passed out." Hershel said, continuing to pull fragments out of Carl.

"One down...five to go." Hershel said going back into the boy.

Rick was hooked up to a transfusion giving blood to his son and Hershel was about to pull 2 out of the 6 fragments from Carl.

"Okay he's stable for now."

"Lori needs to be here. She doesn't even know what's going on. I've gotta go find her. Bring her back." Rick said, sitting in a chair. Shane was leaning against a mantle across the room.

"You can't do that." Hershel said to Rick.

"She's his mother. She needs to know what's happened. Her son's lying here shot." Rick told him.

"And he's going to need more blood. He can't go more than 50 feet from this bed." Hershel told Shane. Rick tried to stand up and almost fell over and Shane walked over to him

"Hey. Hey. Come on." He said.

"I'm alright." Rick told him to leave the room. Shane followed after him. They talked for a bit and Hershel came out of the room causing everyone to peak up.

"He's out of danger for the moment. But I need to remove those remaining fragments." Hershel told Rick.

"How? You saw how he was." Rick told him

"I know, and that was the shallowest one. I need to go deeper to get the others."

"Oh man." Shane said, looking at the ground.

"There's more." Hershel said.

"Tell Me."

"His belly is distended, his pressure is dropping, which means there's internal bleeding. A fragment must have nicked one of the blood vessels. I have to open him up, find the bleeder and stitch it. And he can't move while I'm in there...I mean at all. If he reacts the same as before, I'll sever an artery and he'll be dead in minutes. To even try this I have to put him under. But if I do, he won't be able to breathe on his own. Same bad results." Hershel explained to Rick.

"What'll it take?" Rick said quickly, willing to do anything for his little boy.

"You need a respirator. What else?" Otis said stepping forward.

"The tube that goes with it, extra surgical supplies, drapes, sutures. Who knows what else that girl upstairs needs." Hershel told Otis.

"If you had all that you could save him?" Rick asked, looking for some sign of hope.

"If I had all that, I could try." Hershel told him, giving him a glimmer of hope.

"Nearest hospital went up in flames a month ago." Otis began to say and then paused

"The high school." He said.

"That's what I was thinking. They set up a FEMA shelter there. They would have everything we need." Hershel responded back to Otis.

"Place was overrun the last time I saw it. You couldn't get near it. Maybe it's better now." Otis said.

"I said, leave the rest to me. Is it too late to take that back?" Shane said knowing he was going to be the one going.

"I hate you going alone." Rick said.

"Come on. Doc, why don't you make a list and draw me up a map?" Shane said.

"You wont need a map. I'll take you there. Ain't but five miles." Otis said, looking at Shane.

"Otis, no." His wife protested.

"Honey, we don't have time for guesswork and I'm responsible. I ain't gonna sit here while this fella takes this on alone. I'll be alright." Otis said back to his wife.

"Are you sure about this?" Shane asked him.

"Do you even know what any of the stuff he's talking about looks like?" Otis asked Shane.

"Come to think, no."

"I've been a volunteer E.M.T. I do. We can talk about this till next Sunday or we could just go do it real quick." Otis said.

"I'll take it right quick." Shane said.

"I should thank you." Rick told Otis.

"Wait till that boy of yours and that girl up there is up and around. Then we'll talk. I'll gather some things." Otis said and like clockwork Maggie gasped causing everyone to stop.

"Where's Carl?" A horse voice came from the stairs.

Everyone looked and saw Raven standing there in her bra dog tags dangling between her large breasts and blood spilling from her wound into her hand. Even though she had a cloth there the blood still dripped onto the floor.

"Raven!" Shane and Rick said at the same time running to her side as she started to fall from loss of blood.

"Rick where is Carl!?" She asked again, this time more stern. She was white as snow and sweating up a storm.

"Raven. Sis, you shouldn't be out of bed." Shane said as he held her.

"I need to see him. Tell me he's okay!" She yelled at everyone in the room.

"He's stable for now. But, we need to get the bullet fragments out before he dies. And you need to get back in bed before you bleed out." Hershel said to Raven.

"I'm sorry Rick, I...I tried to protect him. I..." Raven started to cry and then as soon as she appeared on the stairs she passed out once again. Shane took her back upstairs and laid her down again. Back downstairs Maggie was talking to Rick about his wife.

"Where is she, your wife?"

"Back towards the highway. Um..not sure how far out. But they were in the woods back the way we came." Maggie nodded.

"That girl up there is going to need blood. You know her type?" Hershel asked Rick.

"Um..No..her dog tags would say though." Rick said.

"Maggie run up there get her blood type." Maggie did as her father asked.

"O- negative." She said coming down the stairs.

"Was her brother a match." Hershel asked her, she shook her head.

"No, he said someone in their group might be though, so I'll ask when I go to get Lori. What's her name?" Maggie asked Rick.

"Raven." he said quickly and she nodded and ran off to the horse stables. She got on a horse and rode off to find Lori and the group. Shane and Otis left for high school to get supplies.

Out in the woods the rest of the group was still making their way back to the highway and looking for Sophia.

"We'll lose the light before too long. I think we should call it." Daryl said to the group.

"Let's head back." Lori said in agreement to Daryl.

"We'll pick it up again tomorrow?" Carol asked and Lori nodded to her.

"Yeah, we'll find her tomorrow." She said and Daryl whistled leading the group back to the highway.

"How much farther?" Lori asked Daryl.

"Not much. Maybe a hundred yards as the crow flies." Daryl said. "Too bad we're not crows." Andrea said as a joke.

"As the crow flies my ass." Andrea said, wiping off some cobwebs. Then a walker came out of nowhere and attacked Andrea. She had fallen behind the group and they all heard her scream.

"Andrea!?" Lori called as they all ran back towards her screams. She was about to be eaten when Maggie came in and bashed the walker in the head sending it flying off of Andrea.

"Lori? Lori Grimes?" She called the group.

"I'm Lori." Lori said, approaching her.

"Rick sent me you got to come now. Also any of you with O-negative blood needs to come too."

"What?" Lori said

"I got O neg but, why do you need it?" Daryl said.

"There's been an accident. Carl's been shot. And so has Raven. They're still alive but you've got to come now." Maggie explained. Lori dropped her bag and jumped onto the back of the horse.

"Whoa. We don't know this girl." Daryl yelled at Lori.

"Rick said you had others on the highway that big traffic snarl? Backtrack to fair burn road. Two miles down is our farm. You'll see the mailbox. The name is Greene." Maggie said, looking at Glenn. Then she looked at Daryl.

"And you. Raven will die without your blood so I suggest if you give a shit about your friend at all you be there." She finished and rode off leaving the group in shock.

The walker that Maggie had sent flying got up and Daryl shot it with his crossbow.

"Shut up." He said before walking over and helping Andrea up.

"Come on we need to get back to the highway." Daryl said realizing the love of his life was dying and she needed him more than ever in that moment. They made it back and told Dale that Raven and Carl were shot.

"Shot. What do you mean shot?" He said walking towards the group.

"I don't know, Dale. I wasn't there. All I know is this chick rode out of nowhere like Zorro on a horse took Lori, and told Daryl that Raven needed his blood or she would die." Glenn said, climbing over the guardrail.

"You let her?" Dale said, looking at Daryl.

"Climb down out of my asshole, man. Rick sent her. She knew Lori's name, Carl's and Raven's. Now, I got a girl to save." Daryl said walking over to his bike.

"I heard screams. Was that you?" Dale asked Andrea.

"She got attacked by a walker. It was a close call." Glenn told Dale.

"Andrea, are you alright?" Dale asked her, she just shook her head and climbed into the RV. After about 15 minutes the group started to discuss leaving the highway and going to the farm where the rest of the group was.

"I won't do it. We can't just leave." Carol said wanting to stay and wait for her daughter.

"Carol, the group I split. We're scattered and weak." Dale told her.

"What if she comes back and we're not here? It could happen." Carol said.

"If Sophia found her way back and we were gone, that would be awful." Andrea said.

"OK. We got to plan for this. You heard what that girl said. Raven needs my blood in order to survive. So I'm going to that farm no later than tomorrow. I say tomorrow morning is soon enough to pull up stakes. Give us a chance to rig a big sign, leave her some supplies. I'll stay here tonight with the RV." Daryl said.

"If the RV is staying I am too." Dale said.

"Thank you. Thank you both." Carol said to Daryl and Dale.

"I'm in." Andrea said.

"Well, if you're all Stan then I'm..." Glenn started to say before Dale cut him off.

"Not you, Glenn. You're going. Take Carol's Cherokee." He said.

"Me? Why is it always me?" Glenn said.

"You have to find this farm, reconnect with our people and see what's going on. But most importantly, You have to get T-dog there. This isn't an option. That cut has gone from bad to worse. Has a very serious blood infection. Get him to that farm to see if they have any antibiotics. Because if not, T-dog will die, no joke." Dale told Glenn. That's when Daryl walked off towards his motorcycle. He dug around in his bag and pulled out a Ziploc bag full of different narcotics.

"Keep your oily rags off my brother's motorcycle. Why'd you wait till now to say anything? Got my brother's stash. Crystal, X. Don't need that. Got some kick ass pain killers. Doxycycline. Not the generic stuff either. It's first class. Merle got the clap on occasion." Darrel said walking back to his motorcycle and putting the narcotics back in his bag. He tosses the Doxycycline to Dale. And the painkillers he gave to Glenn. The girls of the group looked utterly disgusted when Daryl told him about his brother's clap. But Dale looked happy as he gave two of the antibiotics to T dog. After about An hour and a half Glenn had everything packed up in Carol's Cherokee. T-dog went to get into the passenger side when Daryl approached him.

"Hey T dog, are you feeling good enough to ride Raven's motorcycle back to the farm. I know she'd kill me if I left it out here." T-dog grew the biggest smile on his face.

"Oh, hell yeah man." He said to Daryl. He walked over to Raven's motorcycle and pulled the keys out of the side bag, then handed them to T-dog.

"Don't scratch her, otherwise you'll have to deal with Raven. And she ain't pretty when she's angry. You've seen that." Daryl said. "I won't." T-dog said as he hopped on the bike. Glenn drove off and T-dog followed right behind him.
