"Mom, are you sure about this?" I protested, even though I knew it wouldn't be of much use to argue. Everything has already been established. "Those people haven't seen me in years. Why would you send me all the way there when I could just stay with Erin?" I gestured to my best friend, who had agreed to drive with my parents and I to the airport.

"Exactly." Erin said, grinning at my parents. They loved her and I appreciated her trying to help ease them into an alternate decision, but everything was pretty much set in stone. We still continued to plead though, days after everything was arranged.

"The Von Barons offered when I told them about our business trip. John is your fathers best friend, after all. I didn't even have to ask. Besides, wouldn't it be nice to see some of your old friends?" My mom said, as she finished packing the last of her suitcases. There were seven between both of my parents.

I sighed. My parents started their own real estate business, and after a few years in Connecticut, they felt that they would be able to expand in Texas. So, we moved, and have been living here ever since. I found the change rough at first, but I no longer have any ties to Connecticut, so the prospect of seeing some of my old friends had no effect on me. I had plenty of friends here, including my best friend, who I know would gladly take me in. Mr. and Mrs. Parker were like a second set of parents, and they probably wouldn't mind me staying, especially since Erin was an only child and I'd be of great company. Although, it'd be a hassle to take in another kid for two months. But it's better to stay with them then with people I hadn't seen in years.

My parents were supposed to leave tomorrow morning for South Africa, where they would be establishing a business deal for Hadley Real Estate. I was happy for them, but I wasn't ready to spend months away from home. Summer break was meant to be spent with friends, not some people who were probably uptight snobs. I don't remember them too well, but I sure know that their house was huge.

"Alina, Eve! Oh, and Erin," My dad called from downstairs. "Time to go!"

I slipped on a pair of sneakers and pocketed my phone. My suitcases were already in the car, so all that I needed to carry down was my purse. I took one last glance at my room.

"See you in two months." I said aloud, before heading downstairs.

"I'm coming too."

I rolled my eyes playfully. "I was talking to my room. Your goodbye is coming later." I stuck my tongue out and headed out.

I was the last to leave to house, so I locked the door behind me, then headed to the car.

I spared one last glance at my house before my dad turned the corner and drove away. I was still tired, since I procrastinated and was up until way past midnight packing all three of my suitcases, so I decided I'd get some sleep in on our way to the airport.

Erin promised me that she'd update me constantly. "I'll let you know if that bitch Kelsey tries to hop on Griffin." She smirked, tucking a strand of her red hair behind her ear. We'd both been head over heels for him ever since junior year began, but we'd also both vowed to never go further than friends with jim. All we could do was keep our distance but make sure Kelsey doesn't try anything either.

Even though I felt like Erin was going to try something when I was gone. She'd been making minimal advancements towards him, but I just decided to let it go and not start a fight over a boy. That had happened before, and it was brutal. Besides, what could I do? I'd be away for the whole summer so even if they wanted to get together I might not even find out, and won't be able to do anything anyways.

My dad stopped in order for my mom, Erin, and I to get out while he found parking, as to save time and walking distance. I shouldered my bag and grabbed two suitcases, and my mom took the other one. We wheeled them inside and waited for my dad.

Soon enough, I was preparing to board the plane. My parents had tears in their eyes, and as did I. They could be overbearing at times, and the annoyance I felt when they made the decision to send me off still lingered deep down, but I'd miss them like crazy.

"See you in two months." My dad said, as he embraced me in a tight hug.

"I'll miss you." My mom said, as she joined the embrace. They held me like this for a few minutes. The stewardess made an announcement. I pulled away from my parents to hug Erin.

She took a deep breath. I expected some sort of proclamation or heartfelt goodbye, but what she said just made me laugh.

"Tell me if you find any cute boys."

I burst out laughing and then realized how much I'd miss her and the plans we'd made for this summer.

Time to spend two months far away from home with people I haven't seen in years. To top it off, their son, who my mom said was around my age, would be there too. It was his house, obviously, but it'd be awkward.

I said my final goodbyes, and, with a heavy heart, boarded the plane.

Greenwich, here I come.
