《Never Gonna Leave You》4. Numb

As they returned from the pitch, Bhuvi sprinted to Virat's room. He didn't want to abandon him by himself.
With the spare key he had collected from reception just in case, he unlocked the door.
In the pitch-black room, he whispered, "Virat."
Virat had previously told him he disliked the darkness, so he remembered that and turned on the lights. Virat had his head tucked between his legs and was seated on the floor.
He walked over to him and kept his hand against his shoulder to get his attention.
"You came back," Virat said when he saw Bhuvi.
"Of course, get up and let's eat something." Bhuvi said as they rose from the floor.
"Did we win the game?" Virat inquired as they sat comfortably on the bed.
Bhuvi responded, "Yes, we did," but Virat observed that he was not looking at him.
"What's the problem?" Virat inquired, seeing him disturbed.
Bhuvi lied when he said "nothing."
"Bhuvi.." Virat said it in a tone that Bhuvi could never deny.
"Rohit is in his room with a concussion after getting injured by the bouncer." Bhuvi informed him.
"WHAT?" Virat cried out in worry.
"Why did you not tell me about this? I must see him. Is he alright? He must be suffering a lot. He'll need me because he won't have any food or medicine when he gets hurt. I should go see him," Virat muttered as he got out of bed, feeling anxious and concerned.
"I don't think you should go, Virat; they'll say something to you again that might be hurtful. Mahi bhai will take care of Rohit because he is with him", Bhuvi said this because he did not want Virat to be hurt again.
"Whatever they have to say, I'll listen. I have to visit him anyhow; I can't just sit here," Virat declared as he left for Rohit's room.
At that, Bhuvi sighed and followed him.
Virat knocked the door of Rohit's room. He was tapping his feet in worry.

The door opened and he came face to face with Mahi bhai.
"Yes, Virat?" He asked formally.
"Bhai, how is Ro? Is he okay? Is it paining a lot? Please let me see him. Did he have medicines?", Virat asked in worry.
"At the moment, he is sleeping. He is not interested in seeing you. So you won't be able to meet him," Mahi explained.
"Please don't do this to me, bhai. Please let me see him once! Please," Virat pleaded.
"I can't, please stop bothering us." Mahi said as he shut the door.
Virat was stunned and heartbroken when Mahi bhai refused to let him see Rohit, even though Rohit did not want to see him.
Bhuvi escorted him to his room. Virat was sitting in the balcony, he had became numb as Mahi did not let him see Rohit.
Bhuvi could no longer see him in that way. He exited the room and went to Ash's. He knocked the door, impatiently.
"What's going on? Is Rohit all right?" Bhuvi looked worried, so Ash questioned him. Rohit came to mind first because of his injury.
As soon as Bhuvi entered the room, he said, "Ash, I have to tell you something. Please listen to me carefully."
He took a seat on the couch with Ash. Bhuvi describes everything he witnessed and the state that Virat was in.
"Are you serious?" Ash asked, still unable to believe everything Bhuvi said, to which Bhuvi simply nodded.
"Can we go directly to Mahi bhai and confront him? Since I am unable to think of any other way to resolve this", Ash said.
"I don't know Ash, but Mahi bhai seems to be a totally different individual. Specially in Virat's case", saddened Bhuvi.
"You really ought to have seen Virat; he is really depressed. Seeing our jovial, silly friend so silent hurts so much ", Bhuvi said in a low voice.
"I suggest that we speak with Mahi bhai face-to-face. There is no point in remaining still and talking about it ", Ash firmly asserted.

Ash and Bhuvi entered Mahi's room after Bhuvi agreed with him. Mahi let the door open.
"What are you two doing here, Bhuvi and Ash? You two should go to bed because it is already late "Mahi muttered.
When Bhuvi heard the soft tone, he was startled and briefly believed Mahi was suffering from split personality disorder.
"What is the problem, Bhai? On the one hand, you treat Virat like an outsider but on the other, you act entirely normal around us. What's the matter with you?" Bhuvi asked because he could no longer take it.
Mahi didn't had any expression on that which confused Ash and Bhuvi more.
"I don't understand what you're saying. You two can go to bed now. Good night; I need to take care of Ro." As he said, Mahi shut the door.
Bhuvi felt nothing but anger at that moment. Ash told him that they should check on Virat as this was a dead end to say the least.
Bhuvi observed him still seated in the balcony when they arrived at Virat's room. Since Mahi bhai prevented him from seeing Rohit, it appeared as though he had become a statue.
"Virat, it's freezing outside; come inside before you get sick." Softly trying to attract his attention, Bhuvi said.
He questioned like a child, "Will Mahi bhai and Rohit talk to me if I get sick?"
"What do you think of me, Virat? Do you regard me as a friend? "He was being held while Bhuvi asked him.
Virat answered, "Yes."
He softly pleaded with him to enter the room, and Virat nodded in agreement.
Ash was in the room when Virat entered it. He realised Bhuvi had to have told him everything. He didn't respond to him in any way.
With his eyes closed and his head resting on Bhuvi's lap, Virat simply tried to turn off all of his feelings and thoughts.
Just to give him the silent support he requires, Ash and Bhuvi stayed with him all night.
Next morning except for Mahi, Rohit, and Virat, the entire team was present in the dining area.
Virat had desired alone in his bedroom. The team was made aware that Mahi was caring for Rohit.
"Do you believe it is ok to let Virat be alone himself in this situation? He seemed to be rather troubled and lost ", While they were eating breakfast, ash said to Bhuvi.
"I am aware of it, Ash, but" , Bhuvi replied, "I couldn't refuse his request to be left alone for a while."
"Hardik, How is Rohit doing ? Is he ok? "Ash questioned, but Bhuvi chose to ignore him because he was still upset about how Hardik had treated Virat.
"He is sleeping still, Mahi bhai informed us", He replied.
In Virat's room,
Virat was scrolling pictures of him with Mahi and Ro, tears rolling down his cheeks remembering the good times with them. When they used to pamper him like a baby, they used to console him after a loss and celebrate every victory with him.
He missed them so much that it was getting difficult to live without them. It was as if there is no light in his life anymore. Only darkness where he is standing alone.
"Ya, is it done? Yes don't worry, I am coming. Thanks for everything", Virat replied as he received a call from a person.
"Thanks, I know how busy you are, but this will be the last time I am asking something to you", Virat said.
"Bye", he said and hanged up the call.
Somewhere,
"You did what I told you, now give me everything related to that", the person forwarded his arm.
Other person handed everything to him, "I hope this works"
"It will work, I am not going to go all my efforts in vain, I will show that animal what I can do", first person said.
"I will never let Virat win at any cost", third person said from the other side.
