《Falling (A Sam Evans Fan Fiction)》Furt

It was another week at William McKinley. Haley and Santana walked down the hallway, arms linked, giggling and chatting about Cheerios and Glee Club. They stopped by the choir room after hearing Rachel's voice. They decided to enter the room, only to see Brittany, Quinn, and Tina who were seated while Rachel gave this huge lecture.

"What's going on?" Haley asked. "Yeah Why didn't you tell us that we were having a girl's meeting?" Satanana added.

"This is a meeting for Glee girls with boyfriends." Rachel clarified.

At this clarification, Haley felt hurt. "Way to rub it in our face, Berry." she said snarkily.

"Okay, I'm dating Puckerman." Santana said.

"You're getting naked with Puckerman." Quinn corrected her.

"Besides, Puck can't mess with Karofsky, he's on probation." Tina stated her point. "If he gets in a fight with him, he'll be sent back to juvie."

"So you are trying to come up with solutions that include your boyfriends helping you? Why? When you could easily come up with your own solutions. What feminists you are." Haley said, glaring at Rachel.

Both Haley and Santana rolled their eyes as Rachel pointed to the door. Haley hesitated, debating if she should go and slap Rachel on the spot, but Santana pushed her to the door.

"You're so on my list, dwarf." Santana spat at Rachel, while they passed her. "Come on Hay, Berry and her bullshit isn't worth our time, anyways."

----

The following day came around, and Haley had heard that the boys-minus Finn had confronted Karofsky. It didn't go as planned, and resulted in the girls helping the boys tend their cuts and bruises.

"Dude was a wild animal." Mike said, while Quinn placed an ice pack on Sam's black eye.

"Manimal." Artie mumbled.

"I'm so turned on by you right now." Brittany said to her boyfriend.

"How bad does it look? Sam asked Quinn as she sent him a small smile.

"It's pretty hot, actually." she responded.

Haley looked down at her notebook to avoid the sweet exchange of words between the two. Kurt saw her struggling and pulled her into a side hug, hoping to offer some comfort. She looked up to him and sent him a grateful, but sad smile. He knew that she had feelings for Sam who was currently in love with someone else. He felt bad for her, reminiscing the previous night where she had ranted and let her guard down during their sleepover. He recalled the long comforting hug afterwards. It was new to him, seeing her be so vulnerable. Haley had actually moved into their place with them, and was slowly working on moving out of her place and getting an emancipation from her parents. All Kurt knew was best, was to be there for her every step of the way, aside from his wedding planning.

"You have no idea how hard it was for me not to jump into the beatdown." Puck added.

"Where were you, Finn?" Santana asked, putting Finn on the spot.

"I was still out on the field, okay? I totally would have given him a beatdown if I had been there, though." he defended himself.

"The thing is, it shouldn't have gone down without you, Finn." Haley said, as Mercedes agreed.

"You should have been leading the charge."

"Lay off Finn, everyone. It isn't his problem. It's none of your problems actually." Kurt said. "But thank you for what you did, especially Sam."

"Serious, an epitome of a leader." Mike praised Sam, as Quinn smiled, proudly."

"What's going on? What happened to Sam's eye?" Mr. Schue asked, upon entering the choir room.

"He stood up to Karofsky." Quinn explained.

"All the guys did. Well, not Finn." Tina pointed out, glaring at Finn.

"Is everyone okay? Do we need to go talk to Principal Sylvester?"

"No." Sam was quick to answer. "I got in a few good licks, too, so we can just call it even. And maybe this will send a warning to Karofsky, telling him to back off Kurt."

"You okay, Kurt? Mr. Schue asked, as he placed a hand on the boy's shoulder. Kurt nodded. "Alright, guys. Let's take our places. We got a wedding to prepare for."

Haley stood at the front of the chapel, with the rest of the Glee Club. Beside her, Brittany who had her head on Haley's shoulder, was falling asleep after they had performed Marry You.

Haley sighed with a soft smile as she watched Carole and Burt stare at each other during their vows. All she could see in their eyes was love and adoration. That was what she wanted one day. If she was fortunate enough.

"Please be seated.: The priest said, as everyone took their seats again. "We usually start with a prayer. But a certain young wedding planner, who shall remain nameless, was afraid that some in attendance might fall asleep. So instead, I'm going to let Burt and Carole tell you in their own words why they've invited you here today.

Haley gigged quietly, as she felt Brittany snoring softly on her shoulder. She turned her attention back at the couple.

"I'm not really known for having a way with words.." Burt started. "Uh... you know when you're a kid, adults will tell you a lot of things. But one thing they neglect to mention is how...sad life can be. I lost somebody I loved very much. But Kurt...he lost his mom. And that killed me. Well, we got by, but looking back? I-I want to apologize to you, Kurt. What we were living just...wasn't living. You know that saying, that when God closes a door, he opens a window? Well, sometimes out of nowhere, he'll do you one better, and he'll kick a whole wall down. He grabbed me by the shoulders, and he pointed me towards this woman right here." And he said, "There she is. Go get her." "You're everything, Carole. Words can't describe you. You're everything. And I will love you till the day I die."

Haley smiled, attempting to discreetly wipe a few tears that had begun to fall. She saw Sam and Quinn smiling at each other, which made her heart ache. She refocused her attention as Carole began her vows.

"Oh, hey...I'm lucky. Most women, when they get married, they get one man. I get two. One of you saved me from my wardrobe, the other one just saved me. Kurt, you are an amazing person. I'm not only getting a son, I'm getting a friend. Finn...I know you were resistant at first, but I am so proud of you. I've watched you grow into a man. But I think I'm most proud that you've become a brother to Kurt. We are four people. Becoming a family."

Haley felt some sort of happiness rush over, as the four of them grasped each other's hands.

"Okay." The priest continued. "Burt, do you take Carole..."

"You bet I do!" Burt interrupted, causing everyone to laugh. He placed the ring on Carole's finger.

"And do you, Carole, take this man..."

"Oh, yes I do!" she also interrupted him before placing the ring on her now official husband's finger. "Yes, I do."

Everyone cheered as they were pronounced husband and wife, and awed when they shared a kiss and walked up the aisle together.

----

After Mr. Schue sang his song, he called Finn to the stage. Finn grabbed the microphone and walked to the front.

"Oh. thanks." Finn said, awkwardly. "Hi. Uh, thank you. Best man. Right. Uh...Well, I want to propose a toast to my mom...Who is so awesome. I mean...Somehow even without one in the house, you taught me what it means to be a man. In Glee Club, uh, whenever two of us got together, we got a nickname. Rachel and I are Finchel. Rachel and Puck were Puckleberry. And today, a new union was formed. Fury. You and me, man. We're brothers from another mother. And quite frankly, no one else has shown me as much as you about what it means to be a man. And over the past few weeks, uh, some stuff's gone down. And I haven't manned up like I should've. From now on? No matter what it costs me, I got your back. Okay? Even if it means getting a slushie in the face every now and then. You planned this entire wedding together by yourself, Kurt. So as a thank you, I had the Glee Club put together a little number in your honor."

As everyone got into their starting places, Haley saw Finn walk up to Kurt and pull him into a dance. The whole glee club sang and danced to Just the Way You Are and once the song was over, and every heartfelt speech had been given, the real party began. During some upbeat songs, Haley danced with Kurt, Santana, Mercedes and Brittany-even Finn at a certain point. However, once the slow songs began, she began to feel sad and left out. She sat down at a table and watched the happy couple's dancing around. Ignoring the envy she felt.

She was about to get ready to leave or find someone to talk to when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to be greeted by Sam.

"May I have this dance?" He asked, putting on an impression.

She laughed and replied. "You may." She looked over at Quinn who gave her the go ahead.

As the two began to slow dance, Sam started the conversation.

"So about last week." he cautiously began.

"Yeah. I'm so sorry for running out on you. I was, and still am not in a good place at the moment." Haley replied, blinking back tears. However, Sam saw a tear slip down her face, and quickly wiped it away with his thumb.

"It's alright. I just want you to know, I'm here for you. Always will be." He responded, pulling her into a hug.

"Thanks. When I'm ready I'll tell you." she responded as the song came to an end. He nodded as they walked back towards Quinn.

"I'll be here ready to listen." He assured her, giving her a small smile before leaving to go get Quinn for another dance.

She smiled and said bye to him before she sighed, and sat down.

During the next glee meeting, the wedding was still the popular conversation topic among the group. However it died down as Kurt walked inside.

"Come one, guys. The wedding was great, but we have got to get ready for Sectionals next week." Mr. Schue announced.

"Kurt, good, I want to talk to you about this amazing idea I had for a solo for you at Sectionals."

"Can I make an announcement first?" Kurt asked quietly.

"Yeah."

"First, I wanted to thank everyone for what you did at my dad's wedding, especially Finn. It's nice to know that I have great friends here as well as a true brother." Kurt paused, before continuing. "Which is why it's so hard for me to leave." At this news, everyone grew silent.

"What do you mean leave? Quinn asked, clearly as shocked as everyone else.

"What, please tell me it isn't true." Haley asked, refusing to believe it, while trying not to cry.

"Kurt, you can't leave." Tina said.

"What the hell, dude? Finn explained. "How about you talk with me about this first?"

"I'm sorry, Finn, but there's nothing to talk about. Karofsky's coming back tomorrow, so that means I won't be." Kurt said, clearly on the verge of tears.

"We can protect you." Sam protested.

"Seriously, we can, like, form a perimeter around you like the Secret Service." Puck added.

"Yeah." Finn agreed.

"The only thing that can really protect me is what they have at Dalton, a zero tolerance, no-bullying policy." Kurt said. "It's enforced."

"Um, does this mean that you're going to be competing against us at Sectionals?" Rachel asked, seemingly not bothered with him leaving.

"Read the freakin room, Rachel. Is being insensitive a natural born gift? Because it seems that it is the thing you do best." Haley snapped at Rachel, who frowned.

"Kurt..." Mercedes called, attempting to walk towards him.

"Sorry." He said before leaving the room. "I have to go."
