《Infinity || Dan Smith》Two.

The table read went better than anyone could've expected. Even the director of the movie, Aubrey Chambers, was delightfully surprised with how well things went. It was a shock to her system to see someone as nervous as Dan...have such passion while reciting his characters lines.

Quarter of the way through the long script and Aubrey dismisses everyone for a fifteen minute break, nearly everyone leaves the building almost instantly. Only a few stay behind to either re-read a few lines, or talk to Aubrey. Dan however quickly walks around the back of the building and stands underneath the caved in doorway, since it's raining. The typical dismal London weather. He then digs into his pocket and grabs his cigarette packet, it's not the normal brand he buys, but he was in a rush this morning.

He could barely think because of his nerves. But he feels much confident now than as he did this earlier.

Dan takes one out of the box, along with his cheap Poundland lighter. He places the cigarette in his mouth and lights the other end, before inhaling. Dan stopped smoking for a while, especially when Bastille was at its peak. Dan knew his voice was his only source for money, and smoking can change that, so he stopped and 'overcame' his addiction.

Since 'leaving' Bastille he began smoking almost straight away, although it started as a stress reliever. He doesn't necessarily like smoking...but it helps stimulate his mind sometimes.

Another person who stayed behind, but is outside of the premises? is Charlie Everett. Charlie left all of her things in the table read room. Well, apart from a few things of which she cradles in her arms like a baby. Those things are her: pink furry purse, latest iPhone, and last but not least her cigarette packet and lighter. She realises that she fucked up but not putting her faux fur coat on, but she braves London's bitter air.

She's a tough girl like that.

It's no secret that she isn't also afraid to get her hair wet and greasy too.

Charlie quickly does a brisk jog around the back of the building, she is hoping for a doorway of some sorts to keep her dry while she takes a much needed cigarette break. Charlie has been a smoker since she was twelve, although nobody knew, since she mainly smoked at night while her mother slept. The only reason why her mother never smelt it is simply because she's a smoker and is immune to the smell.

"Christ!" Charlie jumps back in shock.

When she originally saw the doorway...she wasn't exactly expecting Dan to be leaning against the back of the brick wall.

"Sorry" he immediately apologises, feeling guilty for unintentionally scaring his new cast mate.

"No, no!" — she loudly says over the heavy rainfall — "it's my bad. I didn't see you, sorry." Dan cracks a smile while he moves over slightly just so that Charlie can stand next to him without getting wet.

"Thank you." She gratefully says while pushing past Dan with a wide white smile.

Dan then smiles back as there's an uncomfortable silence. He wants to make conversation but he's too nervous, so instead he keeps his head low and looks at the cracked pavement below him. Charlie on the other hand puts her things down on the floor, except for her cigarette, of which she ignites while Dan stares endlessly at the ground.

Charlie then looks at Dan for a couple of seconds. She smiles at his designer clothes, especially his jumper, which is an american make...or at least she thinks. In her mind she tries to come up with a good conversation starter about his clothes, but she can't think of a way without sounding weird.

Charlie likes fashion as much as she likes acting...and men.

"I've definitely seen you before..." Charlie smiles after the long silence. While waiting for a reply she eyes Dan up and down. She thinks Dan is 'insanely hot' and could potentially 'be the one'. Charlie is desperate for a long term boyfriend, but being an actress and falling in love with a genuine boy is actually harder than it seems. She knows all about gold digging relationships.

"Nah, you haven't." Dan quickly replies while Charlie almost squints, his face to her is nostalgic, very rememberable.

"I'm pretty sure I have." Dan shakes his head as he begins to feel fairly tense. His mind goes back to the days of the controversy, but then he realises that the news reporters had him down as 'anonymous'.

Charlie's eyes widens as she remembers a song in her head. She only remembers the song because her old best friend went out with the bassist of the band a long time ago. "Pompeii?" She whispers under her breath, waiting for a reaction. Of course, Dan helplessly grins.

"Oh my god!" Charlie nearly shouts with a silly smile knowing that she's right. Dan then leans forwards and laughs slightly.

"You was a baby back then. Look at you now! You're Liam fucking Dawson." Liam Dawson is the real name of the superhero he's playing.

Dan being Dan then rolls his wide blue eyes sideways, rather than backwards. He's surprisingly used to those comments because of all those Bastille interviews...in fact he misses them.

Once upon a time Dan hated nice comments. He also redeemed them as patronising. However, those sweet comments were secretly his source of motivation. No matter how awkward or uncomfortable he felt, those nice comments by strangers helped him through some tough times. They even helped his anxiety...even the weird ones about his hair.

Not only was Bastille some of the worst days of his life...but they also was some of his best. Dan can't deny that, nor can the other members. It was fun until it lasted.

"No seriously you was like eighteen at least. Your hair was like a trend! It's no lie. My ex went to the barbers with a photo of you and everything-" Dan shakes his head disbelieved, but Charlie is literally telling the truth.

She's the type of girl who never lies...it's what she's most proud of.

A little truth is what some people need in their lives.

"Actually, I was twenty six. It's in the past and shit, I can barely remember" Dan casually says, dismissing Bastille's biggest solo song. He lies about not being able to remember - when he remembers everything - but Charlie doesn't mind. Dan's humble...or at least tries to be.

One thing that she does mind is his age in the Pompeii music video. She's almost certain that he isn't as old as he says he was. "I'm twenty seven, and there's no way that you was twenty six. You was a baby." Charlie didn't need to say her age or anything, she just wants to use it as an example to prove a point. Dan tries purses his lips together tightly to avoid smiling but that doesn't work, so instead he shakes his head revealing his sweet smile. Before Charlie can go on complimenting Dan further, Dan's phone alarm goes off. He's pretty shit at time keeping so he has to put his alarm on for breaks. He doesn't want to be the last one back, his goal is to be professional for the first time ever in his life.

"Already?" Charlie sighs, it's a bummer because she was just getting comfortable with Dan. Just like Dan, she feels like she is an outcast.

"Yeah..." Dan sighs while Charlie puts both of her hands on her head after dropping her cigarette on the floor. She didn't really smoke it though.

She's been getting to know co-star.

Dan then notices that there's something up with Charlie. "Are you okay?" Dan asks, concerned for his new friend. She seems sad.

"Yeah...it's just..." - Charlie takes a deep breath before looking away - "my dog died last night. I'm really not in the mood today to do a table read." Dan's eyes widen when she says her dog died. He's never really had a pet in his life of which left a mark on him emotionally, although he sympathises with other people who lose their pets. Death isn't a quick thing to overcome, human or pet.

"I'm so sorry about your-" Charlie shakes her head, cutting Dan off in confusion before he can finish.

"Let's just finish the next quarter of the script, lover." With that Charlie takes a deep breath in and picks her belongs up off from the floor.

The reason why she called Dan 'lover' is because that's what her character his to Dan's in the film. They portray doomed lovers. Dan on the other hand innocently smiles, he then hangs back for a few seconds while Charlie leaves him and quickly runs out of the doorway and around the corner.

After a couple seconds, Dan then drops his cigarette, and crushes not only his - but both - of their cigarettes with the tip his shoe. He then takes a deep breath in before nodding his head.

I've got this - he silently motivates himself.

It's just reading a script out loud - Dan tells himself again.

It's all it is. He then smiles for half of a second, before he makes a break for it...making his way back into the grim looking building.
