《Counter Attack - A TBATE FanFic》Unsettling Circumstances

Regis's POV:

The most anticipated moment comes up and my master faints, sigh, he truly is pitiable. On the bright side, he gets to rest peacefully for a while. Especially after that grand ascent. It feels like all hell had come broken.

I am rested in my master's body as Sylvie carried us along with a current that seemed optimal. We decided not to go back up when we sensed a space distortion ahead in this water body which flowed like a tunnel that is both large and small. Placing our luck on that distortion, hoping that it might lead us near to the central dominion.

If it was my master who decided to use that portal, we might have ended up in a relic tomb thanks to his not-so-great luck.

Different species of aquatic life with faint traces of purple on them swam past us. Although most kept their distance from us obviously because of me and Sylvie.

The current scenario looks way too similar to the underwater stage of a certain Italian plumber's game.

I wonder what will happen if I were to go on a rampage here? How would the aether around us react to the damage and preserve this sanctuary? It must be quite amazing because this aether is in the purest form of vivum. Healing at this scale must be a crazy feat.

'Regis, stop thinking about destroying the place.' Sylvie spoke in my mind.

'Ahem. That falls under research purposes.' I pitched in.

'Thank you Regis for taking care of him, while I was away '

'I was just trying to stay alive because, you know, my life depends on him.'

'I see, nevertheless, I can't even imagine him getting this far on his own. Just so you know I am grateful that you were by his side all this time.'

'yeah, yeah. sure'

'I am Sylvie. Arthur's bond and his companion. Good to finally meet you.' she said while elegantly maneuvering.

'I am the almighty Regis. Not so obedient but a proud weapon of my Master and Arthur's partner in crime.'

Wait, which one of us is older? I feel like my position in the team is in danger. sigh.

My master seems to be dreaming about something. I hope it's something er....

Sylvie's POV:

Memories of Arthur and Regis surviving through the enemy continent surged through me as natural as it was my first time seeing Arthur. Bitter yet brave, it was evident how hard Arthur endured to get stronger. If it was not for Regis, Arthur would've suffered all by himself, without even anyone to talk to. Regret crawled over me because I couldn't be with him in these tough times, yet was excited because of our new companion.

Agrona has taken over the lives of the Alacryans. So, it shocked me that there are alacryans who supported Arthur. Even the scythe who saved us before seemed to be someone Arthur knew from before. This would mean that mama is safe for now.

Arthur has grown very strong. He feels superior and his ability speaks for itself. He is now strong enough to launch our counterattack. We have people relying on us. It will be bad if we were to delay returning anymore.

It seems that Arthur and Regis are on a mission to save a girl at the central dominion. I was surprised to know that mama wasn't in Alacrya according to the scythe. I was intrigued about the girl named Caera, who Arthur tried to save despite being an Alacryan. The memories of the incident that occurred at the last relic tomb several days ago resurfaced.

It was a tough ascent for them. They had the girl, Caera accompanying them. They were further burdened by the ascenders from the Denoir blood accompanying them. After meeting the Djinn, Arthur was deceived, by none other than the Djinn himself.

The Djinn was infuriated that Arthur was a part Asuran and deceived him by giving him the Fate edict. That was bad because no one was capable of wielding it. Yet, Arthur stubbornly attempted to gain its power.

It started affecting his very mind and his miraculous aether core leading to a near-death situation. Sorrow welled up inside me. We had been through so much and yet this brings chills down my spine. It lasted until Regis used the destruction rune and Caera's hellfire to obstruct that lethal edict's influence on Arthur. Regis enveloped Arthur's body like a Jet black armor with purple glints and carried Arthur out of the tomb.

The ascenders from the Denoir family reported the Vritra awakening of Caera, which was revealed to them when she tried to save ascender Grey before, which led to another scythe visiting to escort her to the central dominion. Even though Arthur and Regis wanted to save her right away, scythe Seris warned them not to, considering Arthur's bad condition. She further informed that mama was not in Alacrya and that Arthur must return to Dicathen quickly after assisting her in saving Caera.

Initially, I was shocked to see Arthur risking to save an Alacryan girl. But considering how she and other alacryans helped him, it was natural for Arthur to do so. We have to keep in mind that our true enemy was Agrona and the Vritra. They were the ones who staged the Alacryans in the war for their personal gains.

The water current took a steep turn below, which forced me to align myself according to it. I closed my wings as to not get pushed out of the path. A black distortion appeared ahead. It resembled a teleportation portal, although it was unstable. I raced forward and it eventually pulled us into it.

We floated in a stream of water while radiant sunlight shined above us. It looks like quite some time has passed in that tunnel. I let Arthur rest on the shore of the small stream and raced towards the sky for an aerial survey.

The stretch of the wild lasted quite a distance and civilization is a bit ahead. Regis and I decided to wait for Arthur to wake up before venturing ahead.

While Regis wandered off to survey the surroundings, Arthur sprang up his upper body and rubbed the back of his head. Sighting me he made a wry smile.

"Welcome back, Sylvie. I missed you all this time."

"I am back Arthur. It sure has been a tough journey for you. I am really glad that you are fine." tears rolled out of my eyes as I shifted into my human form.

"I am sorry for taking this long to save you Slyv.."

"No, you don't have to be. I know how hard it has been for you and how badly you pushed yourself" I said aloud even when I can directly speak into his head. Perhaps because I missed his voice and missed talking to him for this long.

"Slyv, Will you..help me to.." he hesitated.

"Let's go help Caera and return back home quickly. Mama must be waiting for us too." I cut him off and stated firmly.

'Sigh, I feel bad for the enemy now that we are reunited' Regis chimed in from a distance.

Yeah, we can do it this time. It is our time to turn the tides of this war.
