|| 2O. Dead Apple : Without Me
Baby, I'm the one who put you up there.
I don't know why...
Yeah, I don't know why.
DAZAI turned around after he heard the sound of the door behind him. He knew it was Fyodor. Fyodor locked the door of that glass room.
"All according to plan." Fyodor put the key on his pocket.
"Yeah, all according to plan. That was a pain in the ass," Dazai continued grumbling at what they were planning. "Getting in without making him suspicious of us."
"Say, what's the real reason you teamed up with me?" Dazai asked.
Fyodor was still looking at the crystals in the room. "Simply to see the world as it ought to be. But wouldn't you agree that the more entertainment there is, the better?" Fyodor asked him again. Fyodor took two crystals from the shelf before him.
"So the question is, who is the clown, huh?" Fyodor's question was still answered by another question. "I had no intention of making an ally of you, but it was necessary to make Shibusawa the clown. He even has the Japanese government by the balls, after all."
Now, the backs of Fyodor and Dazai are already faced at each other. "He was intent on creating the fog here in Yokohama with or without your guidance, after all." Fyodor turned around and faced Dazai.
"Here you are." Fyodor showed these two crystals. "One is a crystal that summons all the gifted as far as the eye can see here. The other turns the abilities of the gifted who touch it into crystals." Dazai only stared at the two crystals.
"With these two crystals, we can consume the entire collection, starving the fog of an energy source and rendering it unsustainable." Fyodor explained. "Now, first, use your nullification ability to disable the shell that is the crystal, and return the abilities to their former state." Asked Fyodor to Dazai.
"I hope my wife and my daughter are safe, Atsushi and the others too." With that, Dazai touched the two crystals.
The power of the two crystals unites into a greater force. All the crystals in the room seemed to be attracted to unite with that power. A great power was created around Dazai and Fyodor.

"Touch that, and it'll erase everything." Dazai murmured as if at the same time he was asking. "It'll be over."
But then, "E-eugh!" Dazai's breath suddenly gasped when he felt a sharp object piercing his body.
"Didn't I tell you?" Shibusawa asked who suddenly stood behind him. He continued to push the knife he stabbed at Dazai. "None will surpass my expectations."
"I-I was certain I'd locked the door..." said Dazai who could only kneel and accept the pain. Red blood stained his white coat.
Fyodor, in front of him could only chuckled in satisfaction. Dazai smiled at him too. "I see. So this is where the betrayal happens."
"Didn't I tell you?" Fyodor asked the same question as Shibusawa. "The more entertainment, the better."
"And?"
Dazai found it difficult to continue his words. The poison in the knife has taken over all the nerves and cells of his body. Dazai was lying in front of Fyodor and Shibusawa.
"What will you do next?" Dazai asked with his limited breath.
"There is no next." Shibusawa answered it. "You alone have always been my target."
"I thought this fruit knife wouldn't do more than make me hurt." Dazai murmured. "But it poisoned."
"It's a lethal anesthetic." Said Shibusawa. "Taste of death. You've longed for it so dearly."
Dazai smirked. "How could you?" Dazai asked while he's breathing heavily. "I promised to commit double-suicide with my wife. But," Dazai's consciousness began to disappear. "This feels great," said Dazai as if he was enjoying the pain.
After being completely paralyzed, the poison claimed Dazai's consciousness. Dazai closed his eyes.
Suddenly, a crystal emerged from Dazai's body. "For some cases, with the owner dead, the special ability will leave the body of the owner. Except for special abilities that handed down from generation to generation like his wife's abilities." Said Fyodor, giving information.
"The Goddess of Calamity is an ability belonging to the wife of Oda Tsurukichi who was passed down the ability to Oda [Y/N], Dazai's wife." Fyodor explained.
Dazai's No Longer Human ability is not a hereditary ability. It's an original ability that belongs to Dazai. So surely, that ability will leave Dazai's dead body.

Shibusawa approached the crystal then squatted. "This is the first time in my life that my heart has raced so."
But, as he was about to take the crystal, the color suddenly changed. Shibusawa was surprised when he saw a flash emanating from the crystal. "This isn't it!" He backed away.
Fyodor just chuckled. The crystal creates enormous power. Slowly, the crystal seemed to cover Dazai's body. The crystal formed an orange-colored bubble barrier that protecting Dazai.
"What?" Shibusawa confused.
"The merging ability and the disabling ability. With the to contrary abilities becoming one, a singularity is born. Beside that, the Crystal of Memories his daughter made was not just an ordinary crystals. The crystal connects his daughter with whoever touches it. Now, the soul of his daughter protects Dazai even though his daughter is unconscious. The crystal can't be destroyed if his daughter doesn't order it." Fyodor explained. "Two strong abilities with one protector. Isn't that amazing?" Fyodor asked.
There was already a skull in Fyodor's hand. He walked toward Shibusawa. "Even with Dazai's special ability, what you really desire-" Fyodor stopped his question and kneeled down. "Your lost memories - will never comeback."
"How do you know about that?!" Shibusawa asked, panicking as he stood up.
"Not to worry, I'll fill in the lines that were blanked out for you." Fyodor pulled out his pocket knife.
Fyodor swung his knife perfectly, successfully cutting Shibusawa's neck. "That is death." Fyodor said it softly. "Do you remember anything?"
"I see," said Shibusawa then slowly fell backwards. "This sensation," everything looked so dark and black. "I remember it."
All the long flashes of memory emitted from the combination of the summoning, canceling, and protector abilities that Dazai brought together were clearly visible before Tatsuhiko. About how he pressured a boy named Nakajima Atsushi who finally got himself killed.
"A Russian named Fyodor."
"That's right." Fyodor answered. "That moment, you died." Fyodor lifted the skull. The golden skin that covering the skull was peeling off. "And it was you, yourself, who'd inherited your ability when you parted with your body."
"You'd forgotten about your own death and made a room to collect and manage yourself in." Fyodor smirked. "That's who you are now."
Draconia's roof broke when the power exceeded its limits. Fyodor chuckled at the sight before him. "It's the beginning of the end." He said softly.
The white fog was replaced by a bright orange-colored fog, creating a giant dragon that surrounded the center of the city.
"Hm?" Fyodor looked behind him, found Dazai's body floating towards the source of strength. "You're quite greedy, aren't you, Dazai-kun?" Fyodor commented. "Even in death, you intend to see this town to its demise, do you?"
"I'll tell you an interesting fact, in celebration of you finding a friend in me." Fyodor looked at the skull in his hand. "Have you never thought about why my special ability doesn't leave me in this fog?"
Suddenly, an ability shadow picked up a fallen apple and walked past Fyodor. "It's because..."
"I am crime." Said Fyodor softly.
"I am punishment." The shadow replied.
"Did you know?" Fyodor asked.
"Crime and punishment are close friends." The shadow answered again.
"Borders vanish."
"Rooms awaken."
The eyes of the dragon opened. "The incarnation of death, the master of the ability-consuming fog."
"Eat, howl, and make violence as your instinct desires."
The shadow began to merge with Fyodor's real body. "This is neither a loss of control nor a singularity." Fyodor smirked. "The dragon is the true form of the chaos of special abilities."
"ROARRR!!!" A very strong roar cut through the fog that covered Yokohama.
That's it. The same conflicts and nightmares as seven years ago happened again. Maybe even worse than before.

Fragments from the Wildlands
“Your first death is always the hardest.” Miguela was the third-born child of a well-off merchant family and knew from around the time she could speak that her life’s path was already decided. She was to become an Orator, as was Xandran tradition. However, Miguela had an affinity with the magikal arts and somehow found herself studying at the Academy. She did just enough to keep up with her studies but never found the motivation to apply herself and “reach her potential,” as her instructors often said. It was not that Miguela was uninterested in the arts. Rather, she knew her time at the Academy ultimately did not matter. Whenever Miguela returned home, she would become an Orator, and that would be that. Or so she believed until, one day, an opportunity appeared that would change her life. Miguela was offered the chance to join a research team tasked with a mission of the utmost importance to the future of the Five Kingdoms. She could not turn down the prospect of regaining control of her life and finally finding a purpose for herself. Of course, Miguela might soon discover that offers that appear too good to be true are usually fraught with lies. Welcome to Five Kingdoms of Cordizal! Question: What is the Five Kingdoms of Cordizal? I often get asked this type of question about my stories by friends, bloggers, and potential readers. The Five Kingdoms of Cordizal is a high-fantasy epic universe that is the setting for most of my stories. The foundation of the universe is its multicultural, multiracial setting with several sentient races attempting to carve their legacy and survive. The world is fully fleshed out and vibrant with a rich and mysterious history not based on Tolkien mythology. This brings me to magic. To me, magic is an essential part of the fantasy genre, so, of course, there is magic in the Five Kingdoms universe. However, one critical part of the Five Kingdoms universe is that magic is an abundant commodity that is a part of everyday life and not some plot device used to drive the story. In short, the Five Kingdoms universe is the setting of epic fantasy stories with deep characters and world-building. I try to tell as many different types of stories as possible in the universe, and hopefully, you can find something for you in it.
