《Sqampy's Adoption》Finding Lizzie

Izzy's PoV:

I could tell that Flo had been shaken up by all that had happened to her. She had definitely changed, I can't even begin to imagine how hard that must have been for her to go through. She'd already had a tough life and this had just made it even worse.

Still though, she did have a sister, and I was determined to find her.

"Squid," I said walking into his office, "can we go look for Lizzie now?"

"I'm sorry kid, but I'm a bit busy with recording right now, maybe later okay?" He said. I knew he was genuinely sorry, so I just nodded and walked out the room.

Nicole was at work and I could hear Tom recording in his room so they weren't options either.

My phone buzzed in my pocket. It was Flo.

F: I want to go and look for Lizzie but the home won't let me leave. Can you go look?

I: Squid, Nicole and Tom are all busy

F: Would Squid let you go on your own?

I: I'll ask

I was pretty sure he would say no, but it was worth a try.

I went back into his office and asked him.

"I don't want you going and looking for this kid on your own, if Flo can go as well then you can." He suggested.

I was about to tell him that she couldn't but I stopped myself.

I didn't want to lie to Squid but finding Lizzie was more important.

"I ask her now." I said instead.

I: He said I could only go if you went, I told him I'd ask you. I decided that Lizzie was more important than lying to Squid

F: If we found a way for me to get out then technically you wouldn't be lying

I: Sounds good, but how?

----------------------------------------------

The care home was just as I remembered it. I did not want to be here, but this was the plan and I was doing it for Flo and Lizzie.

I walked up to the door and knocked.

After a few seconds someone opened it.

Our plan was totally crazy and half scared me to death but... here we go I guess. I took one deep breath, pushed past the guy at the door and ran screaming through the household.

Flo was currently in the garden with some other kids, when they all heard me screaming of course everyone would come and look. Flo would pretend to go in with them, however, she would actually sneak out the back gate while no one was watching.

She would then meet me round the corner of the street.

But here I was, running through a care home, screaming at the top of my lungs.

The careworkers were chasing after me and kids were laughing as I ran past.

After about a minute of running I decided that was enough and I ran out of the door and back onto the street.

Flo was waiting on the corner as we said, and as soon as she saw me she burst out laughing.

"What?!" I protested.

"That entire thing was pointless, the was no one in the garden with me. I could've just snuck out!" She said between laughs.

"Why didn't you tell me?!" I continued.

"Cause, it was just super funny!" She answered.

I watched her cry with laughter and I couldn't help but giggle myself.

"Come on! Let's go find Lizzie."

----------------------------------------------

We had searched practically every street in Huddersfield, and we'd been out for a good three hours. I was starting to get calls from Squid and Nicole, telling us to come back.

"Look, Flo, we should really start to head back now." I said to her.

"No! Five more minutes!" She said.

I just nodded, however we were starting to go back towards Squid's house anyway.

"I can't believe it! Why did we never think of this before?!" Flo exclaimed.

"What?!" I questioned.

"The park! We haven't searched the park yet!" She said, still nearly shouting.

The realisation hit me, of course! The park was the most obvious place to search and it was the only place we hadn't yet.

Flo started running and I followed, we ran until we got to the park.

"Now, where do you think she would be?" Flo said, scanning the park.

I was looking around too, my eyes fell upon the swings and I had a sudden flashback to the day I met Lizzie.

"I know where she'll be." I said firmly, "follow me."

Without question Flo just followed me into the park. It wasn't starting to get dark so I tried to speed up my walking.

We reached the area around the shed where me and Lizzie hid from Craig's gang.

I heard a voice that I immediately recognised and stopped dead in my tracks.

I pulled Flo behind a bush and put my finger over my mouth gesturing for her to be quite. She nodded, she probably heard the voices and got the gist of what was happening.

I turned back around and started listening.

"Come on down Lizzie! We won't hurt you!" Said a voice, that could only belong to Craig.

I peeked out for behind a bush and squinted through the darkness to see what was happening. I could just about make out that Craig's gang was surrounding the small shed, so Lizzie was trapped on top.

I turned round to look at Flo, she had obviously seen it too.

"What do we do?!" She whispered to me.

"We do the most sensible idea, that we should've done on many other occasions and for some stupid reason we never did." I said to Flo as I pulled out my phone.

"Call Squid?" She whispered again.

"No." I said. As I dialled 999.
