《Fuck you Fred (a Fred Weasley love story)》Chapter Eighteen: Yule Ball Part III

Near to the Astronomy tower was a small door to the left potentially used for cleaning supplies of the Astronomy tower but was cleared out before I started at Hogwarts. I found this place on my fifth day at Hogwarts. I was crying because I was homesick and away from my black furred and green-eyed precious cat, Shadow.
I decided to skip dinner when I couldn't calm myself down and visit the astronomy tower after my first visit the night prior. It brought me a lot of peace being so high up. I tripped over a raised bit of stone floor and practically fell into the small but empty room. I choked on the dust that encases the room. Although, my eyes followed to a beautiful sight, the glass-pane arch window that projected a perfect view of Hogwarts.
The hinges creaked loudly from misuse during the first year but then as my visits became more frequent, the creaking subsided.
When Frankie and I's friendship cemented fully in second year I took her to the room to show her it. She was shocked at how empty it was, lectured me on how I was doing enough with the secret space. We worked on transfiguring a blanket for months into a mattress so we could have a comfortable place to look at while stargazing.
Finally we settled for our lumpy excuse of a mattress and covered it with blankets and pillows to give a more couch-like feel. I never had the heart to change the mattress over the years, although my abilities would allow me to change it within a second, I didn't want to.
Fred looked puzzled when I bent down a little to fit through the doorway of the room, only to stand back up again. The doorway was abnormally small.
"Welcome to my pride and joy!" I breathed. "Lumos maxima."
"My god, here I was thinking all along I was your pride and joy." Fred mocked the hurt.
Fred smiled wided when he took his first glances at the room after shutting the door. To the left and right were two sets of shelves, dusty old things that arrived with the room. I had decided to store more blankets, muggle and wizard book and some of my favourite at home keepsakes that made this small room truly magical. The floor matched the rest of the cobblestone castle except there was a small circular beige rug that sat in between the shelfs.

"Wow Benson, this really is amazing."
I snaked my hand behind him to switch on the fairy lights that illuminated the entire room. Nox. He then saw the bed area and the huge window that covered most of the back wall. The sheets on the bed were white but covered with pillows ranging from red crochet to white satin. I pulled one of the blankets out of the box and jumped onto the bed to sit by the window.
I felt Fred sit next to me and snake his arms around my waist.
"Hi," I said, turning to Fred, kissing his cheek.
"Hello," he replied. "The stars are beautiful."
"I found this place my first year, awfully homesick I was. I sorta like to think this place found me. Fred-" I turned to him and looked into his brown eyes, "no one knows about this place, well except Frankie, so you must keep it a secret okay?" His smile reached his eyes as he shot a reply.
"You sure you don't bring all your random hookups here?"
"Fred," I warned.
"Yes I promise." He nodded, proceeding to stick out his pinky. I scrunch my eyebrows together trying to figure out what Fred was doing.
"It's a muggle thing, a pinky promise. You can never break a pinky promise." He kept his finger there until I latched mine on with caution.
"You sure you're not tricking me into an unbreakable vow?" I questioned. Fred threw his hand back in laughter, finding the whole situation funny.
"That's what Charlie said when I first did it." He spoke.
"Who taught you?"
"Herminoe and Harry actually saw them doing it the first time Herminoe visited the burrow before the Quidditch World Cup. It was a shock to all us Weasleys they had whispered something and then locked pinkies like lunatics. Ginny even drew her wand wanting to protect us, poor thing. They of course thought this was quite hilarious, I can see their point now looking at your reaction."
"I talked a lot with Herminoe tonight actually."
"You d-did"
"Yes about her and Ron she can't see what's right in front of her."
"Oh my god." Fred started to laugh, a full hearty, knowing laugh.
"What" I pushed up on Fred's chest and looked at the mischief in his eyes.

"You can't tell anyone okay?" Fred raised his eyebrows and shot me a suspicion look.
I nodded enthusiastically like a child agreeing to candy.
He slid his hands behind his head, unknowingly showcasing his beautiful arms. "Ron told me last week how much he likes Herminoe. It was after he got told off by her for asking her to the ball so last minute. He found me after and confessed everything. How he has liked her since third year when she punched Malfoy, he told me that she was the bravest, smartest, funniest girl he knows. Of course I told him that he obviously hasn't spent enough time with you." He threw a cheeky grin in my direction and I shifted up to kiss his nose.
"This is amazing." I muttered.
"I know. And also I'm the only one that knows. Ron hasn't told anyone, not even Harry."
"You know what we must do right?" I declared.
"What?" Fred queried.
"We have to get them together!" I exclaimed.

In the time between now and then I had shedded my elegant dress to my undergarments while I forced Fred to keep his eyes on the window. I popped on a jumper and some tracksuit bottoms I kept in the box. If I ever came to the room straight from classes I didn't like staying in my uniform long. So the box almost always came in handy.
Fred talked to me about the stars. He knew so much about the universe. We discussed if there ever was a first witch or wizard, if there ever was a start. Maybe some magical beings evolved into humans. It was really beautiful how Fred and I's relationship has gone through such changes. If you had told me at the start of the year I would be under a blanket with Fred Weasley in my secret hiding, I would have most certainly offered to take you to the hospital wing.
I am thankful for this moment with him nowadays. Something I had been avoiding for so long had finally blossomed. The last few days have brought nothing but bliss into my life. The stars complimented our conversation, never ending and shining bright. It was the perfect end to a chaotic night, I was tired.
"Miranda, can I ask you something?" Fred lifted a little from our closeness.
"Yes of course Freddie." I smiled.
He seemed less affectionate and withdrawn a little. I was scanning his eyes trying to figure out what was wrong.
"Will- will" He stuttered.
"Mmm yes" I encouraged him to speak
"Willyoubemagirlfriwnd."
It was so quick and mumbled I barely heard what he said, but it sounded like something I wanted to hear.
"Sorry, what was that?" I asked in disbelief. I had probably heard him wrong, probably imagining the quite literally impossible.
"Will you... be my girlfriend?" He smiled shyly. I didn't move, still in shock. I just stared at him. "Please..?" He continued.
When the words had processed in my head what he was saying I jumped up into his lap and straddled him, taking his face between my hands. "Yes."
"Yes?" Fred questioned.
"Yes." I closed the gap between us leaning forward peppering kisses on his face. Fred Weasley, the ultimate PLAYER of Hogwarts, wants me. Wants to be serious with me. When was the last time he was in a relationship? Has he ever been in a relationship? *kiss* Well he is now.
"Yes. Forever, yes." And with one swooping motion Fred held onto my back and kissed me deeply. It was a passionate but concealing kiss like it concreted the connection we made. I stayed like this for a while, on Fred's lap straddling him. He roamed around my body, touching all the right parts. Kissing him was like running through a field of flowers, feeling nothing but utter freeness. When I kissed him like this I could finally let go of everything that was holding me back, it was just, us.
When we had finally pulled away I smiled breathlessly into his eyes.
"Thank you," Fred whispered. "For trusting me. I won't let you down." When he finished his sentence the bell tower struck twelve. It rang through the old walls of the room.
"Merry Christmas Fred." I kissed his jaw and got off him to lay by the stars. I rolled over so that I was on my left side and Fred snaked his arms around my waist holding me tightly. "Merry christmas."
I fell asleep quickly.
That was the safest I had felt in forever.

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.
