《His Unknown Child》Chapter 12: Fly, Part 2

After Ashton called I started to get ready. He wanted me there at six, it's four-thirty right now. I can make it.

I walked to my closet and looked around for someone nice. But not too nice.

"Alright, I can wear blue jeans. Yes, that's perfect. Then, should I wear a t-shirt?" I looked through my t-shirts.

"Here a nice shirt. It's perfect. Not to tight and loose enough." I grabbed the short-sleeve t-shirt that had New York on it.

Once I was dressed, I slipped on some boots and pulled my pant over them.

With that, I walked into the bathroom.

"Light makeup." I simply said to myself.

I brushed and combed my hair and left it the way it was. I put on light makeup which only consisted mascara and lip gloss.

Jewelry

I grabbed my silver necklace my mom gave me before she passed away. I put in matching earring and a bracelet.

Not gonna do my nails. Nah uh.

Five-thirty

Perfect timing.

I grabbed my shoulder purse. (The one with a long strap) and grabbed my phone and walked out the door.

Ashton's house is a good twenty minutes away.

I started driving away.

It's four-thirty. Mom should be here any minute. And here she is.

"Alright mom. I called my old high school friend, and she's coming over for dinner. At six." I explained.

"She's coming over? Oh my god. Go get ready then. I'll get ready in a minute."

"Mom, calm down. She's coming at six, not in five minutes." My hands reached her shoulders.

"Alright." She sighed. "What's her name?"

"You're gonna have to find that out yourself." I smirked.

"Is it that sweet girl you dated? The little nerd. Her name was, Katie." I made a disgusted face.

"Her? Ew, no."

"Victoria?" Just the thought of old high school memories bring me back disgusts.

"No mom. Yes, I did date her. But I was the most popular guy in school. I only dated her because the whole school though we would be the best couple ever. After I dated her for a few weeks, I broke up with her." I shrugged smiling.

"Damn Ashton."

"Then, after a month. Charlie moved to town. I was a sophomore. Fifteen, almost sixteen though. I found out she's a sophomore too. Same age also." I smiled at the moment we got together. "Then it just clicked."

"Then Aidan popped out." I chuckled at my mom's smartass answers.

"Yes, but Aidan has been the best thing that has ever happened to me." I missed him.

"Alright softy. Go get ready while I finish this pizza." I nodded and jogged upstairs.

I slipped on a nice pair of black skinny jeans. (No rips)

And left the shirt I had on and put on a hoodie. It's actually cold down stairs.

This seems perfect.

I fixed my hair and walked back downstairs.

"I can never seem to understand how you can make food so quickly." I watched my place the pizza on the dining table.

"I'll teach you one day. Set up the table please. I'll be back." Mom ran upstairs to her room. Aka, guest room.

I grabbed some plates and wine glasses. Then napkins and silverware.

I never use actually plates unless people are coming over or a date. Like tonight. I always use plastic stuff.

Don't judge, it's less dishes.

And I'm not cheap.

Once the table was set up. I went to the pantry and opened a little hidden side door. It revealed all kinds of liquor. Alcohol. Same thing.

I grabbed the wine. Nineteen-sixty-seven. This is the good stuff.

"Where the heck did you get that Ashton?" My mom popped into the kitchens

"It's a special treat for us." I said. "It's also you favorite. Nineteen-sixty-seven." I smirked.

"Okay fine. You win. I don't know where you hide your stuff."

"You'll never know." I laughed.

"What kind of stuff you got anyway?" I set the wine on the table.

"I got wine, champagne, whiskey, vodka, and much more."

"Where's your beer?" She asked.

"The fridge. I actually might have one right now." I opened the fridge and pulled open the drawer. Grabbed a regular can of beer and cracked it open.

"You do realize you're under age." She had a point.

"But I'm not here to get drunk. Want some?" I offered.

"No, I never liked beer." My eyes widened.

"What? How could you not like beer?" I petted my precious beer.

"Taste buds never really liked it." She shrugged.

"Hm, more for me."

"You're eighteen Ashton." So? What's a can of beer gonna do to me?

"Mom, it's alright. It's just one can of beer. That's all I'm having tonight. And to be honest. I barley have any. When I have Aidan I don't even tough and beer or anything else. When he's gone. Either I have one or none." I said proudly.

"That's good. You're taking your step as a dad." I nodded.

"I want to be the best dad to Aidan."

"I know you do." Just then I heard a knock.

"I got it." I said

I opened the door and saw Lilly.

"Hey, just in time." I gestured her in.

"That's good." She slipped off her jacket and I took it from her. "Is Aidan here?" She asked softly.

"No, he's with his mother." Frowning, but slapping a smile to replace it.

"Oh, I love that kid. He's so playful and kind." I smiled.

"You like children I see. I remember in high school you said you hated children."

"I only said that to keep my reputation. But that doesn't matter anymore. I love children. Expectably yours." I grabbed her hand and led her to the kitchen.

"Mom, this is Lilly. Lilly Dale from high school." I introduced.

"Oh it's so nice to meet you Lilly. Ashton has talked so much about you." A hint of pink crept up on my cheeks.

"I've heard stories about you too Mrs. Burns." She shook her hand.

"No, please call me Karen."

"Alright Karen." My mom smiled and I pulled out a chair for Lilly and my mom.

We all ate the homemade pizza my mom cooked and had conversation. We talked about college and work. Aidan came up a few times too.

"So Lilly, what college you want to go to?" My mom asked.

"I want to go to Rochester." All the way in New York. "I did want to go here, in Ohio, but I changed my mind." She shrugged.

"What do you want to study?"

"Music. Well, I don't want to be in an orchestra or be a director. I just want to study music. Learn all the instruments. Travel around the world singing and playing." She had high hopes.

"Ashton?" My mom asked me.

"Uh, I don't want to go to college." I simply said.

"Ashton, you gotta go at some point." I shook my head.

"Nah, I've got a good job. Actually two, and it supports me and Aidan. Besides, I like what I'm doing right now."

"What if you settle down? Have a girlfriend? Ask her to move in? Get married? Have more kids? Are you still gonna work on fixing cars and being a waiter?" Why was my mom she clingy?

"Mom. The garage pays fifty bucks an hour. And an additional forty bucks if you fixed someone's car or whatever and they complement on you." I started. "That's ninety, almost a hundred bucks an hour or a few. But I get payed fifty an hour. And I also have a bank account for Aidan. I already have a little over a thousand save already." I proudly.

"I was just trying to keep conversation." Mom shrugged. Shrug my ass.

"Thank you for the pizza guys. But can I talk to Ashton." She looked at me. "Alone?" My mom nodded and walked upstairs.

"So, what do you new to talk about?" I said nervously.

"I really like you Ashton. But you already know that." I nodded. "I was wonder-"

My had gripped each side of her face and my lips gently moved along with hers.

"Lilly, I know we've only been on one date. Two, if you count this. But I really like you too."

"So what exactly are you trying to say?"

I smirked. "Will you be my girlfriend?"
