《His Unknown Child》Chapter 9: Understand

The week has flown by pretty fast and it's already Saturday. My date it tonight and I can't wait.
My mom is gonna watch Aidan while I'm gone. Which will work out great.
"Aidan." I yelled up the stairs.
"Coming daddy." He ran down the stairs and looked at me.
"I love you, now let's go pack a small back for grandma's." His eyes lite up and nodded.
"I'm go to grandma's?" He said excitedly.
"Yep, now let's go. Because after we're done packing, you have to help daddy." He nodded once again and we both raced upstairs.
"I want to bring Braden." He said and grabbed his stuffed bear. I just realized that Braden, is the same name as the guy in Say We Can Fly. Great acoustic band. Well, it's just him. But he's really good.
"Aidan. Who's you're favorite singer or band?" I asked him.
"Um, this one daddy." He pointed to a poster on his wall.
"Of Mice & Men?" I asked him and he nodded.
"Ya daddy." He said and went to his drawer.
"Daddy is going to pick you up tonight.
So grab pajamas bud." He nodded and opened his pajama drawer.
Aidan pulled out some Batman pajamas and put them in his bag.
"Toothbrush?" I asked him and he ran out of the room.
As I waited for him, my phone rang.
"Hello?" I said through.
"Hey Cameron, this is Charlie." But it's not her number.
"Did you like loose your phone?" I asked.
"No, I left it at my hotel room." Then who is she with? I don't even need to know this.
"Oh, ok. Well, if you want to talk to Aidan, you have to do it now." I said sternly.
"Why now?" She asked. I heard a faint giggle.
"Because, now do you want to talk to him?" I asked again.
"Tell me what's going on." She demanded.
"Then what are you doing?" My voice was getting a little more scary.
"That is none of your business. You have my son, so what are you doing?" She asked all innocent.
"First off, it's known of your business either. And secondly, he's our son. Not just yours. Our, son."
"Let me talk to him." She demanded again.

"Fine." I spat out.
"Aidan buddy. Mommy's on the phone." He came running to me and hugged me?
I put the phone on mute and looked at Aidan.
"Buddy, what's wrong?" I asked him.
"I don't want to talk to mommy." What did he just say?
"Why not?" I asked.
"She isn't here and she doesn't love me." Oh god. My poor baby.
"Aidan, your mommy does love you." He shook his head.
"Mommy isn't here daddy. She left me." He started crying. I can't go on my date now. Maybe Lilly can come over here.
"Let me finish talking to mommy." He nodded and walked out of the bedroom.
I turned off mute and spoke. "Charlie." I said.
"What Ashton." She sounds pretty pissed.
"Don't get mad, and this is Aidan's own words." I tried shortening it and making it sound not so bad.
"What did he say?" She spat. Well damn.
"Aidan knows that you left for a trip and is coming back. But you've been gone for awhile and he's only three. He doesn't quite understand. He thinks that you left him because you don't love him anymore." I explained. There was a few moments of silent until I heard screaming.
"Damn you Ashton. I bet you just came up with those words yourself. My son does not think that. He smarter to think like that. Now look, since he's around his bastard of a father, he's learning to think dumbly. So shut up and let me speak to my son or I will call the cops." Jeez, she just called Aidan dumb and me a bastard. Oh well.
"Charlie, he doesn't want to talk to you. And I'm not gonna force him too." I said again.
"Let me talk to my son." She demanded again.
"Fine, how about this. I'll put the damn phone on speaker and put it near me. I'll ask Aidan one more time." It was silent, so meaning she's waiting.
I took a deep breath and called out for Aidan.
"Aidan buddy, come here." I said and I heard footstep.
"Yes daddy?" He walked over to me.
"Come here." I said and he climbed onto my lap. "Are you sure you don't want to talk to mommy?" I asked him one more time.

"No daddy. She don't love me." He said and I'm pretty sure Charlie was listening.
"But Aidan, she does love you." Here we go again.
"Mommy gone. She don't love me." He buried his head in my chest and cried silently.
"Charlie, you still there?" I asked.
"Fuck you. You piece of lying shit." Then the phone disconnected.
I sighed and set my phone down. I looked down at Aidan and rocked him to sleep.
I should probably call Lilly soon.
Aidan was fast asleep, so I carried him to his room. Gently put him under the covers and closed his door, but leaving a crack open.
I walked downstairs and sat on the couch.
Calling Lilly right now would probably be a great idea.
The ringing stopped at the third ring.
"Hello?" She said.
"Hey Lilly." I responded.
"Hey Ashton. What's up?" I wonder if she's going to get mad.
"Okay, I was wondering if you would like to come to my place for our date. Well it won't be a perfect first date." I explained.
"Ashton, don't be hard on yourself. It's fine. I would love to come over. May I ask why?" She may.
"Ya, Aidan is having a tough time. I just had a fight with Charlie, his mother, on the phone about Aidan." Seems like she doesn't mind coming over.
"Oh, okay. Well, when do you want me to come over?" I really like Lilly. She had changed so flipping much since high school.
"Do you think you could right now? Aidan is sleeping too." I asked nicely. Hoping she says yes.
"Ya sure. I'll be over in twenty." We said out goodbyes and hung up.
Yay, at least she doesn't care where our "date" is at.
Ok, so, today's Saturday. The Walking Dead is on tomorrow.
Don't judge me and my shows.
It's my favorite show ever.
I tuned the TV on and Adventure Time was on. Oh, I love this show too.
I know I'm eighteen. But I'm still a teenager. I deserve to live still.
After a while later, I heard a knock on the door.
I lazily got off the couch and opened it.
Lilly.
"Hey." I said.
"Hi." She said back.
"Come on." I took her hand and pulled her inside. Closing the door and walking to the couch. I turned the TV off and looked at her.
She was wearing some blue skinny jeans. Black combat boots. A red flowly shirt and a black, soft jacket.
Her gods hair was curly and looked beautiful. Her makeup was light and then I see her hand?
"Hello? Ashton?" She waved her hand.
"Sorry, so what have you been doing for the last week?" I asked. I'm trying to start conversation.
"Oh, just hanging out with some friends and having lazy sleep in days.
"That's cool. I think." She giggled.
"What did you do?" She asked me this time.
"Having father and son week. Well, he do that like everyday. But I took Aidan to the park, get ice cream. Grocery shopping, which was a blast. We hung around the house all day. Just cuddling together. Ya, father and son days are the best." I explained.
"Seems like fun. And I'm interested in what you do when you go grocery shopping." I chuckled and nodded.
"Well then. You will have to go with us next time." I smiled and so did she.
"Maybe I do. So you had a pretty fun week." I nodded.
"Yep, until Charlie calls at night." I rolled my eyes and looked away from her.
"May I ask what happened?" I guess so.
"Sure, well Aidan knows that Charlie on a trip and is coming back. But since he's only three, he doesn't exactly understand. Now he doesn't want I talk to her because he thinks that she left him because she doesn't love him anymore." A tear escaped my eyes and went down my cheek.
"Wow, I'm sorry Ashton." She looked up at me and saw the tear. "Hey, don't cry." She wiped the year with her thumb.
I looked deeply in her eyes and leaned in.
Suddenly our lips touch and we move together. I felt free, love, and honesty.
Safe and trust.
This kiss was magical.
Ok, I'm sounding like a girl now.
When we both needed air, we stopped and our forehead just rested against each other.
Then, we laid back against the couch and she was in my arms. Her head resting on my shoulder and we both fell asleep.
