Next morning Anurag went to hospital and was handling opd , and Prerna was handling ward of gynec department.

As usual Anupam was in paediatric department,

Nivi was in ward with Prerna, and had briefly told Prerna about her pregnancy, but not the period of gestation . Prerna was very excited as she had become ' mami '.

Both were checking the patients of ward , suddenly nivi felt she was bleeding per vaginam ,though bleeding stopped spontaneously but after bleeding , suddenly dull pain occurred in her abdomen.she informed Prerna about it .

Prerna immediately suspected of threatened miscarriage (Threatened miscarriage-process of miscarriage has started but has not progressed to a state from which recovery is impossible)

She immediately called Anupam, briefly explaining to him the situation.

Prerna was immediately on her feet, she withdrew blood for routine examination-hemoglobin ,hematocrit , ABO and Rh grouping.

Anupam was pacing outside the hospital room.All excitement of having a baby just drained away. Tears were falling from his eyes ,he made no attempt to stop them . He was worried about nivi and baby .He prayed for their baby to be okay .nivi was Also crying hysterically,hugging Prerna,Prerna said to soothing words to her , tried to calm her down and told nivi that they need to do sonography now .

Prerna sent blood for routine blood examinations to laboratory and did ultrasonography (TVS) and thankfully she found a well formed gestation sac with central echoes indicating healthy fetus and fetal cardiac motions .She also found gestation age of 13 week but she didn't comment as nivi was already stressed.

She asked anupam to take nivi home , and advised nivi bed rest for a few days . She gave her diazepam [5mg BD] for relief of pain .

She decided to talk about it to Anurag at home .
