Hanging out with Sam and Colby was pretty nice, they were as sweet and laid back in person as they were in their videos.
Daisy was doing way better than I thought she would be doing, but I could tell she was still nervously babbling.
"So, tell us a little bit about yourselves." Sam said as we all sat down for dinner. "Well I-" I started but was interrupted by Daisy. "My mom is brain surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic. She's super cool and she helps us with rent so we can live in Fort Collins. You guys should visit sometime you would have so much fun." She said as I smiled blankly and folded my hands in my lap.
"That's pretty cool, I've never heard of Fort Collins is it close to Denver?" Colby asked as he looked at me, "yeah, it's about an hour north of Denver." I said then took a chip and dipped it in the queso we had just ordered.
"Anyways, we're boring. You guys are the cool ones, what have you been up to?" Daisy asked as she sipped her water. "Just prepping for this video, we hope you guys are getting pumped about it. You're sure you're okay staying overnight there?" Sam asked as I nodded.
"As long as you guys protect us." Daisy said with a giggle as I rolled my eyes. I didn't need them to protect me, I was perfectly capable of taking care of myself.
"We can surely try." Sam said as I looked down at my lap. "We'll be fine." I said and twisted my rings. I didn't like feeling like a little girl, who needed to be protected. Maybe it was the fact that I've been taking care of myself for so long.
When I looked up again both Sam and Colby were looking at me with almost sad expressions on their faces. I plastered a smile on my face then grabbed another chip, "Anyways, what's the plan for tonight?" I asked changing the subject.
"Well once we finish eating we have to go to the asylum and grab the key from the owner. He's also gonna give us a tour of the place before we stay the night tomorrow. Then I think we might film the intro outside of the asylum so we won't have to do it tomorrow." Sam said as I nodded.
"This is so exciting!" Daisy squealed and clapped her hands together as the guys grinned at her.

As we ate dinner, Daisy was really the only one that was talking since she wasn't eating. I knew she was hungry but she was too embarrassed to eat in front of the guys for some reason. I never understood crushes honestly. Like everyone knows that you eat, it's not a big deal.
When we were done eating I pulled out my wallet so I could pay for my food but Colby reached over the table to stop me. "Don't worry about it, we'll get you." He said with a smile as I shook my head.
"It's okay, you guys are already paying for me and Daisy to be here, I can pay for my salad." I said as he shook his head, "I'm serious, our treat." He said and rested his hand on mine to stop me from fishing through my wallet.
As soon as he did this I felt almost like a shock of energy. It sounds so cliche but I think it was honestly just from the coldness of his rings.
"Okay, thank you." I said then pulled my hands away so they would be in my lap again. I heard Daisy huff out a breath as the guys paid for the food.
Was she really mad at me right now? I didn't ask for them to do that.
"Alright! Let's go check this place out!" Sam said as we all stood up. "How far away is this place?" I asked Sam as Daisy started talking to Colby again. "Only like 45 minutes from here. Our hotel is also only 15 minutes from the asylum so if we get too freaked out we can just dip and go there." Sam explained as I nodded.
"We get full access right? Like we can go anywhere in the asylum?" I asked as Sam ordered us an Uber. "Yeah, it's huge though so it's gonna take a few days to get through everything." He said as I nodded.
I was getting really excited about going to this place, I've been begging Daisy for years to come ghost hunting with me but she always said she was too scared. I guess all she needed was Sam and Colby to actually do it. I didn't care though, because now I also got to do it.
When the Uber got there we piled in. Sam sat up front so he could direct the driver when we got closer to the asylum. Colby, Daisy and I sat in the back. I found myself looking out the window as Daisy tried to talk to Colby.

"So like, do you guys ever actually fake your videos? Do we have to fake it this trip?" Daisy asked as I closed my eyes, relaxing into the bumpiness of the car.
"No. We never fake our stuff, so you won't have to fake it. We promise we won't do anything if you won't." Colby said with a laugh. I wanted to smack Daisy for even asking that question. She was supposed to be a fan of them, why would she think they were faking their content.
I ended up falling asleep against the window on the drive since I was so tired from working late last night.
"Vi." Daisy said and nudged my shoulder causing me to sit up and rub my eyes. "Sorry. I didn't mean to fall asleep." I said as Sam chuckled, "honestly I wish I could have slept through that drive." He said as Colby nodded in agreement.
Colby looked about as tired as I did which made me feel bad that he didn't get to take a nap also.
I got out of the car and grabbed my stuff, looking up at the giant building in front of me. "Woah, this beautiful." I mumbled as someone walked next to me. "Yeah, I think there's so much beauty in abandoned places like this." Colby muttered next to me causing me to grin.
"It's like it's frozen in time." I said and smiled up at him. "Exactly." He said as the owner walked up to us.
"Hey guys! How was the flight?" The older man asked as Sam shook his hand. "Long." Colby said as Daisy came up on my other side. "Well, I'm glad you're here. My name is Steve, I own this building and try to keep it as restored as possible. I understand you're interested in the paranormal aspect of this place?" Steve asked as we all nodded.
"Have you ever had any crazy experiences?" Sam asked as he nodded. "All the time. There's a little girl named Lilly who was actually born in the asylum." He said as I gasped.
"I read about her! It's said that she haunts the halls, looking for someone to play with." I said as Steve nodded at me with a smile. "That's right. She's thrown her ball down the hall at me multiple times before. If she does that, just throw the ball back and she might just play catch with you." He said as Daisy shivered beside me.
"That's horrifying." She said as I nodded "yeah, she's one of the more civil ghosts though." I said as Colby chuckled next to me.
"You actually researched this place before coming?" He asked as I nodded. "Yeah, I needed to know what we were getting into. I'm glad I did too, this place is intense." I said then walked forwards so I could listen to what Steve was saying to Sam.
"Try not to go into the basement, but if you do make sure you wear a mask. There's a lot of asbestos and debris that can damage your lungs.
"Okay, yeah we brought some masks so we should be good." Sam said with a nod as Steve chuckled. "Good, alright. Let's go inside then." He said as we all grabbed our stuff.
The vibe inside of the building was eerie, and it felt as if something was watching you at all times. I felt myself shiver as the door closed behind us. "You okay?" Colby asked as I nodded and pulled my sweater over my hands.
It was freezing in here also since it was mid October, which meant it would only get colder at night.
"This is the main area of the asylum, it's where patients would be checked in. It's obviously seen a lot since this was the place every patient would pass through." Steve explained as we walked through the room.
I noticed a book that was sitting on one of the desks, then started to walk over to it. "This must be the log that they used to check people in." I said as I brushed my finger along the withered page. "Yeah...the reasons for being here are a little fucked up though." Sam said as he looked at the book with me.
"Fevers? You could literally just have a head cold and be admitted here?" I asked in awe as we looked through the list of reasons to be admitted. "That's fucked up." Sam breathed out as Daisy screamed.
"What?!" I yelled then ran over to her. "Sorry! I thought I saw something." She said then stepped closer to Colby. "What did you see?" He asked and kept his hands in his pockets.
"Just a shadow..it was nothing." Daisy said as I scrunched my brow in confusion.
Something was up with her.
