《The Blood Queen》Dominic

"And who the hell let you roam around my property?" I recognized his voice immediately.
"Sorry I wasn't aware anyone else would be here" I responded taking a shuttered breath and clasping my pendant. I slowly turned around as my heart raced out of my chest. He wasn't suppose to be here. I wasn't suppose to see him for two weeks. I felt like I couldn't breathe.
Their he stood. I could feel my heart beating faster as he stood their leaning against the tree with his arms crossed. His eyes wandered over me briefly and I felt a wave of worry fall over me. When his gaze met mine I felt absolutely frozen. It had been so long and so many emotions swarmed my heart.
"Do you know who I am?" He asks stepping closer towards me.
"The king?" I say my voice wavering.
"Most people usually bow" he says with a demand. He seemed so different, so angry. Gone was the light-hearted, childlike spirit that used to burn through him. Then again, I'd watched it start to fade many years ago.
"I think it's too late for that I was just leaving" I say. I turned around to leave but his voice stopped me.
"Are you here for the wedding?" He asks.
"Yes, I'm the maid of honor" I say and he chuckles and walks in front of me.
"Well while you're here, don't wander too far. You might get in trouble" he warns with a humor smirk on his lips but warning in his eyes. In the blink of an eye he disappears. When he's gone I catch my breath and fall back down on the bench. I felt relieved he hadn't recognized me but the pain almost outweighed the relief. I let a few tears fall from my eyes before picking myself up and heading back to my room. He had changed for the worst and I knew there was no one to blame but me.

When I got back to my room before I could even sit down Henley burst in.
"I'm so sorry I've left you alone bored in here all day! The king came back sooner than expected and now he wants to join us for dinner tomorrow. I swear he hates me" she rambles and I laugh and shake my head at her energy.
"From what I've heard he hates everyone, but if he hates you he's insane" I say and she shrugs and laughs.
"Wait until you meet him. It's such a shame he's so dark and sad because he is quite handsome" Henley winks. "And his bed buddy is a real bitch" she adds shuttering at the thought. When she said the last sentence a shutter of jealousy ran down my spine but I knew it wasn't my place to complain, I'm the one who ran away.
"I think I met his bed buddy earlier" I said thinking of the blonde. "Do you think she's more than a temporary conquest?"
"I hope not. Dominic doesn't even act like he likes her. But then again he acts like that around everyone. Charles keeps telling me to give him a chance and that he wasn't always like this. I find it hard to believe" she says making my guilt grow for turning him into this man. Hearing his name after so long sent a shock down my spine and I held back a weak and shaky breath.
I remembered how he used to be, the man that I'd vowed to love forever. I hadn't broke my vow but I wouldn't blame him if he had.
"Keep up" I teased spinning around and winking at him as we ran through the trees. Turning around I jumped in shock and he caught me before I fell.

"What was that again?" He whispers into my ear with a smirking grin.
"Very funny" I teased rolling my eyes and he spun me around gently placing my back against a tree and drawing my lips to his.
"I can't believe you've felt this free your whole life" I commented with complete wonder. It wasn't much longer after he'd changed me that I'd learned how fast you can run, how high you could jump and how much better everything seemed.
"It didn't always feel like this before you. But together we can feel this free forever Vienna" he smiles down at me and I felt like nothing could ever change us. How wrong I was.
"All the men went out but I hope your hungry because the chef is making us Chinese food for dinner" Henley says breaking me out of my flashback and my stomach grumbled making her laugh.
"I love Chinese food" I say laughing. Back in America Henley and I lived above a Chinese shop and ate their almost daily. It never got old.
