It was somewhat early in the morning as Midas opens his eyes. Instead of getting up, he just lies there, looking up at the ceiling.

"You seem down, more than normal." A ghostly voice echoes in his mind, scaring him.

"Jeez, give me a warning before you start talking. Scared me half to death." Midas sighs, finally getting up.

"My apologies Midas. So, you're going to spend time with the child, aren't you?"

"Yes? Why, have you a problem with her?" Midas asks the voice that he can only assume is Oro.

"Not at all. Just remember what I said."

Midas lets out a sigh of annoyance, doing the buttons on his shirt up.

"I know. You're telling me to be aware of danger. You're not my parents, I'll be fine."

"Very well..."

The voice fades as Midas, having done his hair, grabs his jacket and leaves his room and heads to the kitchen.

"I know he's just looking out for me. The man who bares a portion of his golden power...but he doesn't need to act as my parents, he was just my guide when I had nowhere else to go..."

Midas opens the door to find Sophie already awake and reading a book with a cup of tea and toast.

"Oh, hey Midas! I wasn't expecting you to be up already." She greets him as he puts on the kettle to make a cup of coffee.

"Same to you kid."

He sits down opposite her.

"Listen, I thought about what you told me yesterday...I think you and Jules might be right. Maybe a day off would help me." He says, a small smile on his face.

Sophie's face lights up with a big smile.

"Great! Can I join you? With a bit of luck, the flood should have lowered enough for roads and land to be accessible again."

"Why, you're the reason I'm going through with having a day off. Of course you may join me." He agrees, patting her back.

While Midas finishes his coffee, Ocean is the next one to walk in with a yawn.

"Oh, good morning sir."

"Ah, Agent Ocean. I was hoping to see you, actually." Midas remembers, taking a sip of coffee.

"Really sir?"

"Yes. I will be gone for most of the day. You're in charge until we return."

"No problem M!"

With breakfast done with, Midas and Sophie head out of the Fortilla via motorboat.

"So, where'd you like to go Midas?" Sophie asks, excited to spend the day with whom she calls her friend.

"I heard Holly Hedges' garden centre was open again. Maybe they'll have the roses I like there?" He wonders, stopping the boat near the beach and hoping out.

"You like roses?"

"I like flowers in general Soph. Roses just happen to be my favourite." He explains as they both enter the little town.

Sophie takes note of this, noticing the rose thorns he has as tattoos near his neck. "I see, haha."

Whilst Midas goes into the store looking around, Sophie follows and pauses to skim over a catalogue going over the different flowers. When getting to the roses, one of the names catches her eye.

A rose named 'The Gold Strike'

'An extremely rare rose that is said to be a rose capable of bringing whoever finds it good luck. The gods of light and gold are said to carry one and are even able to conjure them into existence.'

"You find something interesting in there?" Midas' voice surprises her.

"I found this extract on a rare golden rose in here."

"You mean a Gold Strike? Y'know those are actually my favourite, although, I've never seen one before." Midas admits, taking her hand.

"Maybe we'll find one someday..."

"Hm, maybe..."

Over the course of the morning, the duo explored many parts of the island together. Despite the flood, the place was still thriving with life.

Many places were unearthed by the waters and were undergoing renovation and refurbishing.

They encountered a mysterious spaceship below the waters of Craggy Cliffs.

They even came across the destroyed remains of Midas' yacht.

"Huh. Even if it's destroyed, your yacht looks a lot different than I thought it would." Sophie had described it.

"It wasn't always like that. My bodyguard, Meowscles, told me he got kicked off it by this scoundrel with a black and red suit." Midas told her, folding his arms in disappointment. "I believe his name was..."

"That's right, Deadpool baby!!" An unwelcome voice joins in the conversation.

"That's the one." Midas groans, turning around to find the merc lying on the grass.

"Well hiya Midas! How've you been? Gotta tell ya, this is definitely one of the stranger fanfics you've been featured in." Deadpool chuckles, putting his arm around Midas.

"What the hell are you talking about? And get your arm off me!" Midas yells, breaking out of his grip.

"Oh c'mon, you're one of the most popular Fortnite skins out there! Seems like there's not much love for me. Oh, how terrible!" The merc laughs, his voice going dramatic near the end.

Midas and Sophie merely stare at each other, unamused by Deadpool's antics.

"Ok? Well, we're just going to be on our way."

The girl takes Midas' hand and they begin to walk away, only for Deadpool to appear in front of them out of nowhere.

"Aw, there it is! The classic holding hands moment! Just like every other Midas fanfic out there. Which, by the way, are much better than what this one is writing."

Deadpool nudges a very confused Sophie.

"I literally have no idea what you're talking about." She sighs.

"Oh yeah. The narrator's really leaning into my ability to break the 4th wall. That narrator being you might I add. Are you kidding? I only get a cameo appearance in this story?" He complains, throwing his arms into the air.

As he continues to ramble, both Midas and Sophie have had enough.

"You have full permission to turn him to gold."

"It won't kill him but it'll certainly shut him up." Midas agrees, grabbing Deadpool's shoulder and watching him slowly turn to gold.

"Damn, my cameo's already over? Oh well, enjoy the rest of the story fellow readers!" He shouts before the gold completely encases him.

The two of them let out sighs of relief.

"Thank goodness, I couldn't bare much more of him. Now I see why none of the agents or other residents of the island have talked about him."

Sophie mutters, lying down on the grass in between a bunch of pink and purple flowers, Midas suddenly joining her.
