"Sophie's the least of your worries, I'd be more concerned about you boss." Remedy tells her boss, pulling out a clipboard and pen.

"You had a shard of glass piercing through your back for crying out loud." Jules reminds him, helping Midas sit up.

"So, how long am I going to be staying in here?" He asks.

"With a bit of luck, you might be able to get outta here in 3 days time. That good?" Remedy answers, writing something down on the clipboard, then pulling out a roll of bandages from her pocket. "Sophie might be out by tonight considering her injuries weren't as fatal as yours."

"Well, at least she'll be ok..." Midas sighs in relief.

Some time later...

"Ok, that should do it." Remedy smiles, finished applying the bandages and pulling away from Midas' side.

"Thank you Remedy. Although, with my curse...I don't think I'll have to wear this long, right?" He thanks her, getting up from his bed.

"Well, if you say so sir." Remedy chuckles, putting the clipboard down.

She gives him a smile and a wave, leaving Midas to his thoughts.

"While I'm glad to be getting back to my office so soon, I must see if she's alright."

Getting up carefully, he leaves his part of the medical room and heads to where he thinks Sophie may be located. Along the way, he notices many other henchmen going under medical treatment. Although he's aware many of his men died during the battle, he's grateful for the ones who've survived and are continuing to help him and each other in this war.

"Ah, there she is." He mutters, opening the door and walking inside.

Sophie meanwhile is concentrated on playing a video game using a medium sized TV Skye had installed for her.

"Aw man! He's at 5 HP!!" She laughs, half annoyed, though still enjoying herself. It's just a game after all.

"Well I'm glad you weren't as hurt as I was." Midas sighs, relieved.

"M! You're okay!!" Sophie smiles, excitingly shuffling over to her friend.

"What made you think I wasn't?" He asks, pulling up a chair and sitting down, flinching slightly from his back.

"Jules filled me in with what happened between you, Tina and Brutus. Did you really do it? ...did you have to turn him to gold?" She asks, slightly nervous for his answer.

Midas is taken back by her sudden shift in mood and expression. He looks away from her, ashamed of himself, instead looking down at his hands.

"Boss...why? I thought you cared about us..."

Brutus' voice echoes through his mind.

"You led us to Shadow, only for you to leave us behind."

TnTina's voice joins in.

Memories begin to crawl back into Midas' head, all the people he's turned to gold. She's right:

Why DID he turn Brutus to gold?

Was is his greed for gold, or was is some kind of twisted thought?

"Midas?"

He opens his eyes to the sound of Sophie's voice, calling his name. He looks across his shoulder to find her anxiously looking at him, and that gold has made its way up to his elbows.

"I'm alright, just exhausted." He grumbles, his anxiety cooling down.

"I'm sorry. Forget I asked you anything." She sighs, feeling guilty about setting Midas' anxiety off.

Sophie gets up and suddenly runs off, and then comes back 5 minutes later with what looks like pillows sequenced with gold and the duvet, as well as a black shirt and grey leggings. "Did you get those from my room?"

"Remedy told me you'll be down here a while, so I brought you your things! I hope that's okay..." She giggles.

"Why is she always so nice to me? I feel horrible knowing I haven't done anything to repay her." Midas admits in his head, whilst replying to her with:

"Thanks Sophie. But you don't need to keep doing these things for me, no matter how much I appreciate it."

"But you're my friend! It's like I said before, friends have gotta look out for each other!" She complains with a small smile, a laugh escaping.

With Midas' help, they both lay the pillows down neatly and toss the duvet onto the mattress.

----------------------------

Stepping out of the room, I can help but blush. There's just something about Midas that makes me feel so happy.

Is it his serious but calm demeanor? It is his mysterious past?

Whatever it is, he's still one of the most amazing people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

At the exact same time, Skye rushes up to me, hugging me tight.

"I know it's way overdue but see? Didn't I say you and bossman would meet one day? I think he's even taken a shine towards you." She smiles, winking.

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean is... he's honestly treating you as if you were his kid. Like, jeez, he's so sweet and protective with you." She tells me, my face going a bright pink colour.

Is that how much Midas actually cares about me? To an extent, he treats me as if I was his kid?

Skye grins, ruffling my hair and running off, probably to retire for the evening.

Knowing everything she told me, I decide to grab a blanket and pillow and stay with Midas for the evening. Sitting down in a comfy chair next to him, I notice him already asleep.

He looks so...at peace... despite the bags under his eyes...

Perhaps he hasn't been sleeping well lately?
