"Did you also realise that I, unlike some, have exams next week?"

"Oh, shut up. It's not like you were actually studying."

"How dare you assume the worst of me."

"Well, were you studying?"

"That's not the point!"

"See, I'm right."

"Back to this being the third time we're calling. Why are you calling me again?"

"I don't know. It just felt kind of weird that you weren't here today. When we were young I always thought we would do everything together. Then we lost contact and I knew it wouldn't be that way, but now that we're talking again, it feels weird that you weren't at my graduation."

"I would've gladly travelled all these miles for you, but school won't let me."

"I know you would. I actually saved you some cake, I have it here right in front of me. I'm going to eat it now, though."

"Harsh, but fair. Enjoy it for me, will you?"

"I absolutely will. It's that chocolate cake my mom always makes. You remember that right? It was our favourite."

"I only remember you always trying to steal mine, even though you already got the biggest part."

"That's so not true!"

"So you're saying you never stole my cake?"

"I didn't say that exactly."

"You thief."

"If you're waiting for me to apologise, I won't. You know me and food."

"Honestly? I knew you used to steal my food, I let you. You were just so happy about it. I liked to see you smile."

"I can't tell if you're kidding or not."

"Why would I be kidding?"

"Well, I like it when you smile too."

"I can't wait to see you again, El. It's been too long."

"Yeah, me too."

"You sound pretty tired. I'm sure you've had a busy day. You can go to sleep if you want."
