"So, why are you actually home?"
Alex asked her brother as soon as they stepped out the door of their home in La Push. Jordan and herself could only just get away from their parents now, they both wouldn't quit talking to Jordan about his Ohio adventures.
That was why it was slightly dark outside, the La Push sun starting to set. Alex had texted the pack to meet at Embry's considering he lived in the same area as Alex. She so desperately wanted them to meet her twin, the other most important person in her life. But it was getting late and Paul had specifically told her to stay inside due to the vampire that hung around their area lately—so going to Embry's seemed like the safest idea.
Alex only asked this question to Jordan because she knew the story he had told her parents wasn't the full one. Simply coming home for a holiday because the team didn't have a game this weekend may have caught on with the Santiago adults, but not with Alex. She could see the subtle change in Jordan's demeanour when he told them.
"Did you not hear what I told the rents?" Jordan looked at Alex now, his head slightly tilted in confusion.
"I heard you," Alex concluded as her feet walked down the porch steps. Jordan followed unknowingly in synch beside her. "Just didn't believe you. What else is going on?"
Alex didn't mention the weird conversations the pair had over the last few weeks or how the brunette could tell they had drifted away from one another slightly. They were implied though, and she knew Jordan had taken it into account.
"Just been feeling pretty homesick—you clearly have an awesome life here now and I love that you do. You deserve it, Lexi, but that doesn't mean it didn't make me slightly jealous. But I'm over it, seriously. I just wanted to come see you guys, I really have missed you. Like a lot."
Alex stopped in her step then and turned to face her brother. He hadn't changed much—his hair was maybe a little bit longer and his arms bulged out more due to his training, but other than that he was still Jordan. He was still her twin brother. He was still the person that had defended her when anyone in their grade would make even a slightly mean comment. He was still the person that held her night after night when Alex cried over her grandfather passing away. He was still the person that took the blame when Alex broke her mother's favorite vase she had inherited from Colombia before she moved here. He was still her other half.
And that would never change.
"You'll never stop being a part of my life, J. Ever. You're my brother and my best friend—I don't think there will ever be a point where I don't need you anymore. I always will, and that's not gonna change." Alex took one of Jordan's hands in her own and squeezed it gently. It wasn't very often that the brunette had to comfort her brother, for a lot of their lives it had always been the other way round. But for all those times Jordan helped her, Alex was more than happy to repay the favor.
Jordan had stopped walking too and pulled Alex into his side, an arm slipped over her head to wrap around her shoulders. Alex let herself be tugged into Jordan's side—a position she had come accustomed to over the years. "Thanks, Lexi. You'll always be a part of my life too, no matter what. We shared a womb, remember? Can't get rid of me that easily."

Alex rolled her eyes dramatically which made Jordan let out a short laugh. Her heart beat rather happily then—at seeing him happy, at seeing him in the flesh.
"Now we are done with the sentimentality for the night," Jordan asked as the twins continued to walk in the direction they were headed. His arm still enclosed Alex next to his side, the girl's arm wound around his back to grip his side. "Who am I going to meet right now?"
Alex's face heated up slightly at her brother's tone. He could tell something was up. "My friends. There is Embry, Jared, Kim and Paul."
Jordan eyed the girl curiously at what she had said. His dark eyes narrowed and Alex could only look back at him in confusion. "Paul, huh?"
Alex's face must have heated up even more then as she heard Jordan's small snicker of laughter. She imagined her cheeks were tinged a deep red at what her brother had so easily guessed. Alex remembered talking to Jordan a few times about Paul—but she had never confirmed anything. Was she that transparent?
"Could tell by the way you said his name," Jordan answered the unasked question he knew Alex had thought about. "It rolled off your tongue so sensually."
Alex shoved the boy away from her then as she laughed. He was obviously kidding but that didn't mean Alex could let him get away with it. "Shut up, I don't say it sensually. I don't think I have ever said something like that. You're so full of it."
Jordan now continued to walk in front of Alex, his laughter only just coming to a stop at his little sister's reaction. He turned so that he was walking backwards, his eyes still held Alex's. "But I was right."
The brunette shook her head slightly but the smile on her face didn't fly past Jordan at all. He quickly wore one to match hers—letting it take over the entirety of his face.
"I can't believe you have a boyfriend, Little Lexi. That's something I didn't see coming."
"You told me to live my life while you were gone!"
"And you took it very literally. Damn, hermana."
Alex didn't realise how much she had missed something as simple as this—the usual teasing a slightly older brother would give a little sister, and even the embarrassment that followed. Although her initial smile had been due to the mention of Paul, there was no doubt that the grin that beamed off her now was due to Jordan. Just like it always used to be.
"Does that mean you've had your first kiss?" Jordan asked clearly as soon as the thought came into his mind, his mouth gaped slightly at the thought.
Alex gave a simple shrug to her twin who continued to walk backwards. She could see Embry's house now only a few metres away.
"Oh my god," Jordan muttered at Alex's dismissal. That was all the conformation he needed. "¡Oh , Dios mío!"
It wasn't often that Jordan spoke Spanish—sure it was part of how he grew up and something their mother tried to get them to use more often, but Jordan was usually the least likely to use it. Saying oh my god in their native language must have meant he was finding it hard to believe, so much so that he said the phrase their mother always uttered in disbelief.
"How did I not know this?" Jordan said now, his face held a small smirk. "I texted you the day I got my first kiss. Literally a few minutes after it happened."

Alex scoffed. "Yeah, thank you for that. I loved hearing all the sloppy details of your moments with Jessica Stanley. My twelve year old self didn't need to know. Especially that it was with Jessica—why you did that to yourself, I will never know."
"She was the hottest girl in Forks at the time, alright? Let me live."
"And now she is the most annoying."
"Judgey," Jordan shushed the girl, giving her a disappointed shake of his head. The grin on his face deterred this however, it made Alex see that he agreed with her without saying it. "How was your first kiss though, Lexi? Any good?"
"Mine wasn't bad at all," Alex said and meant it. It really wasn't bad, in fact she rather enjoyed it, but maybe that was simply because it was Paul. And she was meant to be with him—forever. "Unlike yours, it was actually pretty good."
"I was twelve, lets not judge my kissing skills on what it was in middle school," Jordan warned the girl and stopped walking when he realised they had ended up right outside a small home. It was quaint like the majority of houses in La Push, with a massive porch and an obviously big backyard. "What about sex? You done that yet?"
Alex felt her cheeks heat up once again, already annoyed at how much Jordan had brought the habit back. Paul could no longer make her blush like he used to, which he commented on several times, yet apparently her twin could. "No, I haven't."
Her answer was in a small voice and Jordan let out a small smile at her embarrassment. Clearly his sister hadn't changed that much. "Brilliant. I'll be expecting a text when you do that, thank you."
The brunette scrunched up her face at that. Hearing about your sibling's sex life wasn't something she figured would be normal—there was no way Alex would be texting Jordan when she had sex. Not after something so intimate. It sent a shiver down her spine.
Jordan tapped her nose gently, which caused it to scrunch up further. "We shared a womb, Lexi. We share everything now."
Alex reached out to smack him across the chest, which caused Jordan to bark out laughter. Her measly attempts at hurting him was something he missed.
The pair walked up to the Call household after that. Alex easily knocked on the door like she had done multiple times before, but never with nerves like she had now. Butterflies swarmed in her stomach at the thought of Jordan meeting her friends—she pleaded that they all got along, although she didn't know if there was anyone Jordan didn't get along with.
And then there was the fact that despite their easy moment together on the walk here, Alex was still sure something else was going on with Jordan. He had acted so weird during his absence from the state, so much so that homesickness didn't cover it. There was something more and Alex would have to get to it eventually.
Embry flung the door open and Alex was more than ready for him to meet her brother.
But Embry hadn't once looked at Alex upon opening his front door. His gaze had been trained on the boy behind her, his eyes hadn't faltered from Jordan for a second.
Alex narrowed her eyes at Embry in an attempt to decipher what was going on. Jordan had done the same at the boy staring right at him, although he was actually reluctant to remove his eyes from his.
And then it all made sense to Alex—the gaze that Embry made at her brother was one all too familiar to her. One of pure intensity. He looked completely and utterly awestruck with Jordan, looking at him like the stars had finally aligned and all the worlds problems had been solved.
It was almost the same one that Paul wore when he looked at her. Like when Jared looked at Kim, and when Sam looked at Emily.
"Lex, thank god you're finally her—" It was Paul that came to stand in the small gap beside Embry. His words had stopped as he looked at his pack member. A look of amusement came to one of seriousness at the sight, knowing without much thought what was going down.
Alex desperately looked to Paul, and his face confirmed exactly what she had expected.
Embry had just imprinted on her brother.
---
The rest of the night actually hadn't been so awkward—not after the inital time at the door. Aside from Embry being rather quiet, everyone got along great and Jordan seemed to approve of the company Alex had been keeping—not that she ever wanted nor needed his approval.
"How are you holding up?" Alex spoke into the phone, with Embry being the recipient on the other end.
It was now the early hours in the morning and the wolves were just done with their patrol, it being Jacob's first one with the pack. That was how the conversation with Embry had started—asking about how the rest of his night after the imprint went. Alex stayed awake specifically so she could talk to her best friend, needing to know that he was okay after all this.
"I'm okay," Embry answered back, his words more quiet than usual—like he was tired. Alex assumed he would be, both mentally and physically.
"You can be honest, Em. It's me here."
"I'm just confused," Embry said after a slight pause on his end of the phone. "I'm not gay—well I never thought I was."
Alex snuggled down in her sheets, craving more warmth. Paul was supposed to be coming over after patrol and he had texted a few minutes ago that he had to go to his house first—so Alex knew he wasn't that far away. That made her nerves from what was to happen with all of this lessen slightly, a cuddle with her boyfriend would make them almost nonexistent.
"Clearly the universe has other plans," Alex answered, trying to lighten the tone of the conversation slightly. Imprinting wasn't something Embry should be scared of—it was one of the best things to happen to Alex. It got her Paul, although she thought she probably would have got him either way.
Embry paused again on the other line, his short breaths the only thing that filled Alex's ear. "What about Jordan?"
Alex knew what the boy was asking her and she replied easily, "Straight, the last time I checked. But the imprint is unavoidable, Em. You can get through it together."
It had been a surprise to Alex that Embry had been the one to imprint on her brother, but she had quickly gotten over it. She knew Jordan wouldn't have an issue with being with a boy, and neither would Embry. They would fall in love—now it made sense to her as she thought about it. They were similar, two of her favorite people on the planet, and they would compliment each other like no other.
Two social butterflies, both too protective for their own good.
Alex could see it easily now that the thought was in her mind. And she was more than excited to see her two best friends find love in one another.
"Do you want me to tell you about him?" Alex asked Embry cautiously, knowing that the boy wouldn't be one to ask this himself. She had talked about Jordan a lot to the pack, but Alex would tell Embry anything and everything that came into her mind if he wanted it.
There was a small hum of approval over the phone and Alex started immediately then.
She told Embry what Jordan was like as a kid, about the adventures they once went on together in Colombia when they were seven, about the one Christmas when they were fourteen where Jordan forgot to buy presents and had to handcraft them all.
Anything Alex could remember, she told. Embry patiently listened, laughed when necessary and asked questions when he felt so inclined. Alex answered them all.
She even continued to do so when Paul climbed through her window about half an hour later. They cuddled together and he listened just as avidly as Embry, loving the smile that grew on Alex's face when she talked about her twin.
Alex continued until she fell asleep on Paul's chest—more content than she had been in a while.

The Afterlife, And How To Survive It (Barely)
Larry Foulery's monotonous, directionless life changed drastically, when he got shot in the face. Reincarnated into a new world, where he has nothing to lose and everything to gain, and with the honor and dedication of an part-time fast food cashier, he is ready to face this adventure. Kinda. The story takes place in the cynical world of Afterlife, where status screens and are considered normal, and the rule of physics cry in a corner, because nobody cares about them, and they are alone and lonely, and their family hasn't called them in years. Anyways, have fun. BTW don't stare too long into the story cover. I get the feeling it stares back. I'm trying to improve my writing, so feel free to bombard me with criticism.
