《Strings of Fate - Avenger's Soulmate Story》Chapter 2

"Is this a joke ?", said Steve.
"Wha..what?", asked Peter. Suddenly he felt self-conscious and scared of the Captain.
"Peter, is that really your soul mark? I want you to be completely honest with me.", said Steve with an aggression that surprised everyone. His soul mate was the only one for whom Peter would stand up against anyone, not liking the way Captain addressed his mark Peter replied, "Of course it is! Why would anyone lie about their soulmate?" Steve sat down, shocked, too numb to say anything. Sensing the tense situation, Wanda asked Steve why he was questioning Peter about his mark. "Because I have the same mark!", replied Steve, still in shock that he has to share his mate with another.
Suddenly five voices spoke together, "me too".
To say that they were shocked is an understatement. Seven avengers had one mate. Top that with the fact that two of them almost killed each other few days ago.
"I am not sharing my mate with anyone, at all", yelled Tony. Call him selfish but this was his one chance at true happiness, if his mate accepts him. All hell broke loose, as the rest five too got up screaming their thoughts at each other. Bucky realized that this would lead up to nowhere and tried to settle everything. "Maybe we should first meet her, then we can come up with a solution together", he said. "And what makes you think she would accept YOU? The man who murdered one her mates' family!", yelled Tony. Everyone gasped . You could literally see Bucky's heart shatter, even Tony stood there frozen. Shoulders slumped and with a lost expression, Bucky turned around and walked towards his room.
I stood still.
I regretted the words the moment they came out. I had no idea why I said it.

I don't even blame the man anymore. I mean I was mad at first, but I understood the situation. It wasn't his fault at all. From what I've heard from J.A.R.V.I.S. , he punishes himself almost everyday for what happened, and I just added fuel to an already high flame fire.
I started walking towards his room, not caring about others. I knocked twice and heard a soft," Come in".
I walked in and my mind went blank when I saw James with tears in his eyes. "You are right y'know. She wouldn't want a monster. I don't why I get so hopeful every damn time!"
"I am sorry", I said . " I shouldn't have said that, I was being an ass!". He opened his mouth to interject but I stopped him by saying, "No hear me out first. I was jealous and insecure and I wanted to hurt you. I don't blame you, no one does you know....I am pretty sure our soulmate would understand everything. We'll make sure of it! Look at the rest of us, we've all done wrong things in the past, but we all are trying to better ourselves and I know you are too. Look man, you were right, we should all look for her together and then talk to her about this situation."
Bucky looked up, with a hopeful expression ,"then what?"
"Then we pray to whichever God that would listen and wish she accepts us all!", I said, chuckling. At this Bucky smiled, finally, and together we walked back to the common room to further discuss this with the rest.
