"My sister is getting married today!" Leo says, far to excitedly as soon as I walk in the door.

"It's been on the calandar for a year Leo, I'm aware."

"Aunt Kea is getting married today!" Ailani says running into the room.

"Why is she covered in paint?" I sigh. Ailani's curly hair isn't even in a ponytail but instead has chunks of paint in it. She also has paint on her cap that she refuses to wear anyway but backwards.

"We were painting a rainbow bird!"

"It's not really rainbow, the colors mashed into a brown," he says to me.

"Okay, you're both covered in paint. This is why I left early. You're late to everything."

"Buzzkill," Leo says. "Hear that Lani? Dadda is a buzzkill."

"Yeah!"

"Why do you teach her just absurd words? Last week she called me repugnant. I didn't even know what that meant."

"One, because it's funny. Two, so she can be smart and beat all the other kids in life."

"Okay, you go get cleaned up and ready and I'll put Ailani in the bath."

"Bath time!" If there's one thing this kid loves, its water.

Once I get her in the bath I coach her to call daddy vacuous.

An hour later we're finally at the venue. I awkwardly walk past Elijah, a.k.a Mr. Medero, who hasn't liked me since Leo and I started dating forever ago. That and to piss him off I purposely called Leo, baby around him. He did name Ailani though. The two are inseparable sometimes. Almost like how Leo was with his nana.

"Andrew!" My father calls. "Did you end up talking to Liz?"

"I got off work early today and the rule is, outside of work, we don't talk about work."

"That's not how things work when you run a company, son."

"Lucky for me, I still have a year before I completely take over, so till then I will abide by that rule."

I catch Gabe and ditch my dad. "Hey congrats," I say.

"Well, I'm not married yet."

"I am, loser," Leo says as he walks by. He won't ever grow up. Unfortunately, Ailani is his shadow and copies everything he does.

"Yeah, loser."

"Oops," Leo says. "Ailani, we only call dadda a loser. No one else."

She frowns.

"Have you seen the others?" I ask Gabe.

"No," he sighs. "I've been saying hi to every person at this wedding. How many people does Keanu know?"

Another thing, after Leo and I started dating, Keanu started to hangout with us. Eventually over time she became good friends with the group she had made fun of for years. Liv is actually a bridesmaid and Mia is the Maid of Honor. Gabe and Keanu had been off and on for years through out university, but hey, they're getting married today.

"Yeah I don't know. The awkward part is every now and then I see someone who recognizes me as her ex."

Gabe just laughs.

After chatting with him I go and watch Ailani while Leo talks to his parents. She's sat talking to Liv's daughter Audrey.

"Your dad is tall."

"No, he's gay."

I face palm. Children don't make sense.

"Oh okay. I wanna be gay when I'm older."

"Okay. It means you will marry a boy."

"Ew, cooties. I don't wanna be gay."

Aubreys brother, Jamie walks up now.

"Jamie, boys are gross. I'm not going to marry one."

"Okay so you're gay?"

"No! I said no boys!" She storms off and I chuckle to myself.

After the ceremony, Keanu grabs everyone's attention.

"Okay, some of you noticed, I haven't been drinking and that I'm not wearing the most flattering dress because let me tell you, trying to find a dress last minute that fit was a struggle. Anyway, Gabe and I just wanted to announce we're three months pregnant with two healthy little girls."

Everyone cheers happily, and I look to Leo who has the biggest grin. "We're going to be uncles! Ailani, you're getting cousins."

"Cool! What's that?"

"And not to be cheesy and sappy, but it is my wedding day so whatever... we decided to name them Andrea and Leah after our best friends after thirteen years."

More then anything, I'm so glad Keanu and I didn't work out. Even had Leo not been in my life, Keanu and I are so much better off friends. We joke and enjoy being around each other, just not romantically.

I spend a good chunk of the night talking to Keanu on a swing couch and watch Ailani drag Leo around.

"We're all grown up," I say to Keanu.

"I know," she sighs. "It's so weird. Nothing worked out like I planned, which I'm glad for."

"And somehow, we didn't become our parents."

"Over my dead body will I raise my girls to be the rich spoiled brat I was. I want a happy home not an empty mansion."

"No matter what, you're going to have two sassy little girls."

"Ugh, I know." She laughs. "I'm going to have my hands full with two me's."

"What if you end up with two girls like Leo?"

"Oh my god I wouldn't be able to keep track of them."

"They'll look out for each other."

"Oh they fucking better," Keanu says.

Leo and I take Ailani home and I read her to sleep because he passes out at the dining room table. I think it's hilarious but I let him sleep till I decide to head upstairs and turn out the lights.

"Hm?" He groans.

"Bedtime."

"What time is it?"

"Late, let's go."

"Ugh, you sound like my mom," he says standing up and following me upstairs.

"I mean feel free to sleep on the table."

He snorts.

"Ailani starts school in a week," Leo says sadly as he changes out of his suit.

"Which means you can't call in sick to work to paint with her all day."

"Hey, today I had a reasonable reason. My sister got married."

"And just somehow I managed to go and make it on time to the wedding."

"Yeah yeah." He flops face down on the bed. "How am I going to live without the tiny human."

"I don't know," I say untying my tie. "You just might die."

"I want another. Ooh I want a dog."

"Lani is allergic."

"Ah yes thats right. Another child it is then."

I laugh before turning out the lights and lying down.

"You going to make that one paint too?"

"Lani loves to paint. Lets just hope the next one is as boring as you," he laughs.

"A calm child would be nice. I already have to deal with you and Lani."

"She told me today she's going to play hockey and baseball but not baseball. She's debating on soccer still."

"You're going to become a soccer mom."

"Damn right. I'll embarrass her at every game, cheering her on."

"You'll be embarrassing me too," I chuckle softly.

"That sucks for you but you married me so I don't feel bad."

"Ah yes, you're number one argument."

"Okay okay, I'm tired now. Night."

"Goodnight."
