"Don't make a mess or break anything," my father says to me. I'm in the kitchen on the phone with him as the others chat in the cottage living room.

We just arrived about ten minutes ago and were about to assign sleep arrangements before my father called.

"Yes we've been over this a million times. I'm not immature. I'm not gonna throw a party."

"I trust you won't."

I hate lying. He doesn't know who's here. He knows Keanu and Leo are. However, it's Keanu, Leo, Mia, Liv, Gabe, Elle and I.

Gabe and Elle are going home tomorrow because they both have stuff to do so either he extra space I invited up Aleks, Julian and Talia.

So many people.

My father would kill me.

"Okay bye," he says. In the background I can hear my mom says wait and then she's on the phone.

"Hi baby, I love you and be careful. Especially with the boat. I don't want you guys in it too much just maybe one or two small rides."

"Yes I know."

I have a boating license and so does Keanu. Leo can't even drive a car.

"Okay love you darling."

"You too mom."

Then she hangs up and I return to where everyone is.

"Okay theres a king in the master bedroom, a queen in my room and a king in the spare room plus the couch."

Everyone nods.

"I'll sleep in my room," I say "and someone else."

Keanu puts up her hand but Elle immediately shakes her head. "Can we stick with genders? I'm not listening to anything at night if you know what I mean."

"We'll be too tired at that time. The cottage is exhausting," Keanu's says, clearly annoyed with Elle, whom she hates for whatever reason.

"We'll take master bed," Liv says pointing between her and Mia.

"I want couch," Gabe says.

"Two people in the spare room and two and someone else in mine," I say recapping.

"I'm sharing with Andrew I don't care," Keanu says. Elle shrugs.

"Okay so it's Leo and I," Elle says.

I can see something flicker across Keanu's face. I can tell she debates switching it so Elle or Leo was with me. However she's incredibly jealous and would never put Elle with me but she hates Elle too much to share a bed with her. Eventually she shrugs and stands up, clapping her hands.

"I'm going down to the dock to swim, who's coming?" Keanu says looking around at everyone. She doesn't know everyone very well and I know she doesn't really like them.

They aren't the spoiled mean kids she hangs around.

"I'll go," Liv chymes and Mia decides to as well. Gabe agrees to go down to the doc to read in the sun.

Elle and Leo say they're going to play cards up here for a bit.

I go down to the dock because Keanu drags me. So while they hop into the water I sit using a pump to blow up the floaty's that have deflated over time from being left in the shed. I'm surprised to see most still work.

I toss the donut shaped ones into the water and try to dive in the centre of them.

We're in the water for like an hour when Elle and Leo join us. At first Leo is reluctant to jump in but finally Liv and I convince him.

Elle sits on the end of the lounge chair Gabe is sitting on, reading under the tree and they chat.

I don't know if I like Elle. She always seems more serious then everyone else. Liv and Mia are so free spirited and unlike Elle who always overthinks safety and everything.

I'm sitting on the edge of the dock as the others swim out and try and race when Keanu joins me and sits beside me. She rests her head on my shoulder and her wet hair is refreshing from the heat.

I almost wait for Elle to mention something about us getting our hands off each other because we're like half naked in swims suits but Elle's too busy.

"I want to take the boat out but we can't all fit."

"Some people can stay I guess."

"Aren't you worried they'll steal?" I turn to look at her and she lifts her head from my shoulder. "What? It's not an outrageous thought."

I guess I don't know them well enough to leave them alone at my parents cottage but if I stick to that mentality of not trusting them this will be a boring weekend.

"Liv and Mia will be with us on the boat. We should be good," I laugh lightly.

Keanu smiles to me. "You're so cute all wet in the sunlight."

I laugh and turn away. "This is why Elle doesn't trust you."

"Stella can shove it up her ass. This isn't her cottage and she's only here for Mia's birthday not to be a cockblock."

I snort at her choice of words.

"Not that I want to do any of that while people are around but still that's not her choice." Keanu brings up a valid point.

"Only one night and her and Gabe drive home. Then you will have Talia."

I can see Keanu get excited. "That'll be so much fun. I mean she has a giant cottage but like, this is fine."

I raise an eyebrow but she doesn't notice so I just ignore her comment.

Money.

All she ever seems to care about. How much money does someone have? What do their parents make? What do they drive?

Interesting how her brother is the polar opposite.

More interesting that I always was on Keanu's side that Leo is a brat but the more I hang out with him the more I see his point of view. Keanu is just a spoiled girl who loves money and judging people.

Part of me thinks she likes that her parents don't focus on Leo. In a way she's an only child. She's always envied me having no siblings which I just found to be lonely growing up. One big mansion with no one in it till 6 when my parents got home from work.

"What're you thinking about?" She asks looking out into the water.

"Hm?" I look to her.

"You just seemed like you were in a deep thought."

"Just was wondering if we should take out the boat."

"We should," she says.

Keanu gets up and walks to where the boats tied up and calls out to Leo.

I lay back on the deck with my feet still in the water and my wet skin on the burning hot deck. I close my eyes and enjoy the sun, it always makes me so tired.

"You coming sleepy head." I open my eyes to see Leo looking down at me and blocking the sun with his head.

"Yeah," I groan rubbing my eyes. When I open my eyes again Leo is on the boat with Liv and Mia. Keanu is holding the ropes waiting for me.

Elle shouts out that shes too tired to go and is going to go start dinner, anti-social Gabe follows Elle.

"C'mon Andrew," Keanu says.

"Coming."

I quickly run back to the cottage to grab the keys and double check that the others are sure they don't want to come so they don't feel left out.

Once I'm back to the dock I get on the boat and start it up as Keanu undoes the ropes. She hops on and we drive slowly till we're out of the no wake zone.

It's been a while since I've driven the boat. I've always preferred sitting though. I can just close my eyes and feel the wind in my hair. Liv and Mia are at the back out the boat where it's lower to the water and you can lounge. Keanu is in the chair right to the drivers chair and Leo is at the front.

When he thinks nobody's looking he's grinning and hangs his arm over the side as if he could touch the water but his arms are too short by far. I smile to myself.

A bit later when I look to Keanu she's on her phone. When I look behind me Liv and Mia are laughing enjoying the ride. I didn't ask but this seems like their first time on a boat like this.

Every now and then I check the map to make sure I'm going the right way to this cliff we like to jump off.

Once we're there Keanu doesn't look up from her phone till the boats stopped.

"Where are we?" Liv ask.

"If you swim up to the land then you can climb to the top of there," I say pointing to the cliff. A grin crosses her face.

"Okay great," is all she says before shes dived off the boat. Mia is hesitant at first but she jumps off and swims behind Liv.

"Okay, I am not jumping off that." Keanu sets her phone down.

"Suit yourself," Leo shrugs walking past us. Before he jumps off he turns to me and smirks. "You coming Pollock?"

"Am I coming?" I laugh. "I've jumped off this cliff more times--"

"Hurry up," he cuts me off before jumping into the water.

"You hold down the boat don't let it drift into anything," I say to Keanu who looks offended I'm leaving her alone. I jump off and swim behind the others.

Leo and I race to the top. He's got a head start but I know the path.

I can't see him but I can hear him through the trees. I can also hear Livs screams then a splash.

Leo beats me to the top but we both watch Mia Plummet to the water below and resurface next to Mia. They giggle and swim back to the land.

"You ready?"

"Same time?" He asks.

"Three," I start but he counts down with me. "Two, one."

And we both jump.
