《The Girl in Red》13

I felt something brush against my cheek and I slowly opened my eyes. On my right side, I saw Silas sitting on the bed stroking my face.

I quickly jumped up from the bed and looked around the room. The last thing I remembered was falling asleep in Caspian's room, but this room was different.

I turned my head to Silas and asked, "Where am I? And what are you doing here?"

"Relax sunshine, you're in your room and I'm here to wake you up but you looked too peaceful sleeping I couldn't find myself waking you", he replied with a wink.

"Oh," I said, my cheeks turning red.

'No, Stop reacting like this Aloia!' I scolded myself in my head.

"Since you're awake I thought I would let you know that tonight there is a gala for a charity in the kingdom. Unfortunately, you will have to attend. I will send your gown down tonight. You have two hours to relax but at 3 p.m. you will have to get dressed and prepared. The gala is at 5 p.m." Silas said walking up to the window out of my room.

"What do you mean prepared? I just need to put on the dress, that doesn't require 2 hours." I asked him.

"Ah, but this time your face won't be covered by a mask, Aloia. I will send up a servant to help you with your makeup and make you look...presentable"

"What's wrong with me now?" I asked him, looking down at my attire. I realized I was still wearing the bloody dress from my fight yesterday.

"Oh," I said with a pause, "I understand".

"Perfect, now you are allowed to go anywhere except the basement of the castle. That is for royalty only. You can say we have treasures of sorts there." He told me moving towards the door.

"Wait", I told him stopping him in his tracks "Is there anywhere I could go to train?" I asked him not facing him.

"Train?" Silas asked with raised eyebrows.

"You know yesterday, I could've blocked his attack with his dagger but, I was too slow," I said looking at him." I'll wear a cloak when I walk there, and I'll make sure no one is training there before I enter."

"Fine" Silas said with a sigh, "You can use the Captain of the guard's training area. I doubt he is training now, so you will be safe there. Make sure you wear a cloak when you walk there. The training area is at the end of the hall to the right, the first door you see."

"Thank you!" I said smiling and jumping up excitedly. I expected him to tell me, no, but I am more than happy he said yes.

I saw Silas staring at me with a smile as I celebrated my win.

"Alright. I have to go to a meeting with my counsel but make sure you are ready by 5, alright?" Silas said.

"Don't worry your highness", I told him with a royal bow sarcastically "I will be perfectly proper."

He smiled and gave me a kiss on my forehead as he left.

I froze. 'Why did he kiss me?

Weren't we just pretending to be mates?

Did he think there was actually something going on between us?'

A hundred questions went through my head, but I decided to push them away and get ready to train.

I opened the closet and saw the different assortments of clothes, both men and women.

I took out the smallest pair of male trousers and blouse and quickly put it on. The shirt was a bit big, so I tucked it into my pants.

Next, a pulled out a giant brown cloak.

"That should do it", I said to myself looking in the mirror. I looked nothing like a woman in this attire and no one would recognize me.

'Perfect' I thought to myself as I closed the door and walked to the training area.

Before I walked in, I made sure Caspian wasn't there. I opened the door a bit and peeked through.

It was beautiful. The best weapons you could get your hands on were lined up against the right wall on hooks. On the left, there were rings for archery. And in the center, there was a padded area to practice fighting.

There was a giant clock on the center wall that showed the time. I made sure to mentally tell myself to check the clock periodically, so I don't end up late.

I giggled to myself as I slipped in and closed the door a bit too loud.

'Whatever', I thought to myself 'No one is here anyways'

I slipped off my cloak, dropping it to the floor, and got to work. I decided to start with stretching.

After I felt warmed up, I threw a punch with my right arm.

"Your body isn't in the right formation," someone said behind me with their hands on my waist.

"Caspian let go of me", I said with a strong voice.

"Now princess, why would I do that?" Caspian whispered into my ear.

I threw up my elbow and brought it down on his stomach with all my strength. He stubbled back but regain his balance after a few steps.

"That's why," I said with a smirk. For the first time, I felt like I had bested him. I twisted my body around and got into a fighting stance.

"Relax, I'm not here to fight", Caspian said looking exhausted.

"Then, why are you here?" I asked him, crossing my hands across my chest.

"Because", he said moving towards me "I'll help you train. I'm way better than you and you know it. Let me show you how to properly throw a punch. Or how to properly dodge one"

"And you won't try anything?" I said raising my eyebrows.

"Not a thing until you're ready," he said with a wink. "Now get back into your stance"

I went through all my stances with Caspian and he decided I was ready to fight him.

"You have the first move", he said with his fists up.

I threw a punch with my right fist, but he easily dodged it. That's when I twisted my body and kicked him with my left leg. He stubbled back but quickly regained balance.

"Good but not good enough", he said with a smile.

He threw a punch at my face which I dodged and but used his elbow to punch my gut.

I fell on the floor doubling in pain, but I grabbed his leg as I fell causing Caspian to fall with me. I made sure not to give him an opening and pinned him to the floor with his face facing mine.

"I won", I said with a smile.

He leaned forward and kissed me on my lips, it made me freeze causing me to release my grip on him. He used this opening to flip our position around.

"Good try, but I won," he said with a smirk releasing his grip on me.

"But you cheated!" I exclaimed pushing him off me.

Caspian twisted and fell beside me. "An opening is an opening, there is no cheating in fighting," he said.

I turned my face to the center wall. It was 3:20.

"Shit!" I yelled out, quickly getting up and putting on my cloak.

"What?" Caspian exclaimed, "What happened?

"I'm going to be late for the gala with the prince," I told him running towards the door.

I turned to say bye to Caspian but the look on his face made me want to not distribute his thoughts. He looked like he wanted to kill someone.....
