"Hi" Aquamarine whispered back, Beverly stood there for a few seconds just exchanging an intense tension with the girl

Aquamarine broke eye contact to glanced at Allie. The red hair girl nodded, immediately knowing what to do

"I'm on it" Allie said, she stood to her feet and quickly made her way over to Raymond who was walking towards their table

"Alright, down boy" Allie said as her hands gripped his shoulder

"Bu-But we're on a date" Raymond mumbled

"Not anymore bud" Allie chuckled, with one move, she spun the boy around and walked him towards the exit

"Huh?" Raymond questioned

"I'll explain" Allie smiled and pushed open the restaurant door

Now, back to our girls.

"Sit with me" Aqua said as she patted her side of the booth, Beverly slipped right in but made just enough space for the girl

"Your shirt's a mess" Beverly whispered, Aqua chuckled as she shook her head

"Yeah, I get a little clumsy when I'm distracted" She said

"What distracted you?" Bev asked, Aqua's eyes locked with the girl

"You" she whispered, her eyes flickered down the girl's lips.

"Oh-" Beverly whispered, a blush crept onto her cheeks

Beverly grabbed a tissue from the table and brought it to the girl's shirt, quickly applying light pressure in attempt to remove the extra layer of sauce on the fabric

"What happened to your date" Aqua whispered

"I..... I don't think he's the ones I want" Beverly whispered

Aqua could tell that there was an intense tension between the two of them since she stepped foot into the restaurant. But now, now was making her heart race. The soft whispers between them, the lingering stares into each other's eyes. It was building something in her that she's never felt before.

"And who is?" Aqua mumbled, her eyes met Beverly once again.

"Someone very special" she smiled

"Look at that, all done"

"Damn, you spreaded it even more" Aqua chuckled as she loooked at the stain

"Hey! Atleast I did something" Bev pouted

"Yes, and for that I'm thankful" Aqua smiled, she hasn't noticed that Beverly actually moved closer to her when she tried to remove the stain

Their faces were just inches away from each other, butterflies swarmed both of the girl's stomach as their eyes locked again. The lights above them produced such a glistening look in their pupils.

Aqua turned her head slightly and placed a soft kiss on the girl's cheek. The sudden contact caused Beverly to stay frozen in place but blush nether the less.

"You're cute" Aqua chuckled

"Oh- thank you?" Beverly smiled

Aqua's hands snaked their way up the girl's body as they rested on her chin. Aqua smiled and her fingers took a few of Beverly's locks between her hands as she twirled them.

"What are you doing" Bev giggled

"I like your hair" Aqua mumbled

"I like your smile" Bev said

On cue, the mermaid smiled widely. Her smile was one of happiness growing, much as a spring flower opens. Beverly could see how it came from deep inside to light her eyes and spread into every part of her. A person smiles with more than their mouth, and she heard it in her voice, in the choice of her words and the way she relaxed. It was beautiful. Beverly matched the girl's smile as their eyes locked for a few seconds

"Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you were a bird?" Aqua asked

Beverly furrowed her brows but chuckled at the randomness of Aquamarine.

"What?" Bev laughed

"I'm serious, would you build a nest?" Aqua giggled

"Hmm" Beverly lightly tapped her fingers against her chin as she thought for a few seconds

"I'd probably fly far away from my nest, build another one somewhere near the ocean so I could stare out onto the horizon. Melt in the sunset, bathe in the rain"

"Maybe you'll see me flapping my tail close to the surface" Aqua laughed

"I wanna see your tail" Bev pouted

"You saw it when I was bleeding out on the beach" Aqua chuckled

"So you were injured!" Bev gasped

"Yes, and my powers heeled the wounded flesh" She whispered in the girl's ear. The hot breath lingered against Bev's skin sent goosebumps crawling along her arm

"Sometimes I forget you have powers" Bev mumbled

"Well, I have many powers" Aqua whispered, her body was facing the girl's and they locked eyes

"What's that?" Bev questioed, her eyes fell onto the girl's lips as she bit her nervously.

"I have the power of manipulation" Aqua whispered, her fingers then gripped a spoon

Beverly's eyes drifted in the direction of the girl's hand. Aqua smiled as the metal slowly drifted away from her skin and floated inches above her hand. Beverly smiled as she recalled the first day of seeing the girl's powers.

"I have the power to move something" Aqua mumbled. Her eyes landed on Beverly and flickered white

Suddenly, Beverly's body slid inches closer towards Aqua, a small squeal left her lips but was replaced by a giggle. Their chests were facing each other as their eyes locked

"And I have the power to make you melt" Aqua smirked

And with that, Beverly's heart raced and a blush crept onto her cheek. It was the blush of roses, that peek of champagne pink. The colour infused cheeks dimpled with the blossoming smile and her eyes shone in a way that only deep happiness can bring.

She leaned forward and buried her face into Aqua's chest, desperately hiding the blush she didn't want the girl to see. Aqua chuckled and wrapped an arm around the girl's back.

They sat there, arms around each other as they embraced each other's heat. The tension between them was still there but it was clouded by the comfortable silence between them.

"You smell really good" Aqua said

"Oh my God, are you sniffing me"

"What? I can appreciate a human's scent"

"I can't believe it took you a month to stop smelling like fish" Bev laughed

"I. Am. Offended" Aqua said

"I'm sorry" Beverly giggled into the girl's chest

Aqua smiled and she continued to stroke the girl's short hair. Beverly sighed into her embrace and held the girl tighter. Neither of them cared for the stares of the other customers. Jackie made sure no employees disturbed them either.

"What are we doing Bev" Aqua whispered

Beverly felt her heart flutter in her chest, she took a deep breath in before pulling away to face the girl

"I can't do this here" she said

"Do what?" Aqua asked

"Something I've wanted to do for a really long time" Beverly giggled

"Wanna take a walk down the beach?" Aqua asked

"Will I get to see your tail then?" Beverly chuckled

"Maybe" Aqua smiled, her hands held out towards the blonde girl and she intertwined their fingers

The familiar electric charge coursed through their veins, it wasn't intense but it was still enough to make them flinch.

"Allie left her keys" Aqua chuckled and held the car keys before shoving it into her pockets

"How's she gonna get home" Beverly asked as they slipped out of the booth

"Oh don't worry about that at all" Jackie chuckled

"Can I trust you to take my friend home Jackie?" Aqua asked

The dark skinned girl held her phone up towards her. Allie's face appeared on the screen with a smirk

"Oh believe me, I'll be in good hands. Just don't wreck my car before I wreck your asshole" She glared

"I just might crash it to see what you'll do" Aqua smirked

"Nope. You're Beverly's girl, I can't do that" Allie smirked when Beverly blushed deeply again

"Alright, run along you two"

And with that, the two girls were out the door. The beach wasn't far away, just a street down. The soft sounds of the waves washing to shore could be heard.

"Are you okay?" Aqua asked the girl as they stepped foot onto the sand

"Never been better" Beverly smiled sweetly

The cool water laps at their feet, fizzing and bubbling like brine. Aquamarine couldn't help but smile as the wind caresses her face. Waves ahead roar and roll down, crashing onto the shore with a soft hiss. A chill surged through her.

Beverly whispered into the breeze, her eyelids fluttering closed as she breathes in the briny aroma. Scrunching her toes, she feels the softness of the sand, still damp from the retreating tide. She wiggled as a shiver cascaded down her spine and her eyes burst open.

The sand blurs out in a blissful trance. Her pale lips curve upward. Beverly bestows her gaze to the far off horizon, the soft sounds in a distance calmed her. Through narrowed eyes she watched as each wave overlaps one another, sending the white bubbling crests descending, masking the shore with the transparent fading water.

Aqua pulled her shirt off her soft skin, Beverly's eyes went wide as they came into contact with the girl's bare chest.

"Oh- you're actually going in" She said

"Yes. And you're coming with me" she smirked

"No no I rather watch from the dry end" Beverly smiled

"Come on Miss Hills, take a dip in the pool of earth's backyard" Aqua smiled.

She held her hand out with a smile on her lips, there no way Beverly could refuse

"Fine. I'll swim with you. But only because I wanna see your tail" she chuckled and started to peel her clothes off her body

Once she was stripped down into her underwear, Aqua's eyes trailed down her body. A smile pulled across her lips as she eyed the girl. Her supple breasts hung perfectly above her flat, toned stomach. A heat was rising within Aqua, a certain spark played around in her stomach. Aqua tried her best to look away but she was too captured by the girl's body.

"Ready?" Bev asked

"Ready"

The two girls dipped their toes into the water. Beverly sequeled when her skin came into contact with the cold temperature. She ran even further out and allowed it to invade her, sucking the warmth out of her body and replacing it with its own.

"Don't be alarmed but my tail is twitching" Aqua chuckled

Beverly turned to face her, Aqua smiled sweetly as she floated above water on her back, the light green tip of her tail was now visible. It wiggled her way through the water before dipping down below

"Oh my God...IT'S SO PRETTY" Beverly smiled

"You aren't freaked out?" Aqua asked

"I met you as a mermaid, seeing you with feet is what freaked me out" Beverly laughed

"You're so weird" Aqua smiled

"Says the fish-"

"I swear I would kick you!" Aqua hissed

"With what foot?" Beverly smirked, Aqua's jaw hung low as she glared at the girl

"Ima kill you, get over here!" Aqua hissed, Beverly laughed as she attempted to swim away

Child, why? She's a mermaid with powers for hell sakes.

With one swift move, Aqua built pressure in her tail, her body weight shifted and placed all energy below which caused her tail to whip around rapidly until it sent a massive wave in Beverly's direction.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

"Oh my God! AHH" Beverly screamed as her eyes met the wall of water coming in her direction

The cold water rushed over the girl's body, she gasped when it touched her skin, the pressure sent her down but she appeared above water right after it passed over.

The second her head came back up, her eyes locked with Aquamarine. The two girl's faced each other. Their chest were pressed against each other and the water reached their collar bone.

The moonlight was a diffuse ocean above them, lessening the inky blackness of the night, but not so bright as to dull the stars that speckled and glittered in the heavens above. It reflected onto the water and looked like a spill of milk.

The starry night above was better than any software imitation. There were lighter patches, clusters of faint and bold light, the constellations altered according to the time of year.

They twinkled in Aqua's eyes, Beverly smiled sweetly as she admired the silver reflection in the green orbs of the girl she was falling for.

Her hands held Aqua's from under the water as she intertwined them. The electric currant ran through her veins, her toes curled to distract from the energy's charge.

"I'm done" Beverly whispered

"Done with what?"

"Everything" she mumbled, Aqua could physically feel her heart drop

Her mind went to somewhere else, did that date really bring something out in Beverly? Was she about to drop Aquamarine because she was starting to have feelings for Raymond?

Nah I'm just kidding. Happy pride month bitches.

"What are you talking about?" Aqua asked

"I'm tired of hiding what I want to do, who I want to be. I'm so sick and tired of pushing it behind me and shrugging it off like it doesn't matter... Because, you matter Aqua. You matter to me" Beverly mumbled

Aqua's heartbeat sped up as the words fell from the girl's mouth. If it wasn't possible, her heart was smiling. A warm sensation found her cheek as she listened.

Beverly moved closer, her arms wrapped around the girl's waist as she leaned her forehead against hers. Butterflies swarmed both of their stomachs as the anxiousness crept in.

Beverly's heart fluttered as she grew even more nervous. She knew exactly how she felt but didn't know how Aqua would react. She closed her eyes and leaned her head against the girls'. Beverly's hot breath lingered against her skin as her heart pounded against her chest.

It was the first time she's felt so, comfortable. So at peace with what she was feeling. But it didn't stop the tears from filling to the rim of her eyes. It washed away with the ocean.

"Everyday that I wake up, you're the only person on my mind. Hell, you're always on my damn mind. When I think of you, I feel so much warmth, its like a field of butterflies in my stomach that wouldn't go away. And when I see you with someone else... It hurts Aqua, it hurts so damn much. And I get angry with myself because it's my own fault. You had to see me walking around with Raymond and I'm sure you hated it the same way I hated seeing you with anyone. I'm so sorry Aqua. I'm so so sorry for putting you through that. But right now, I can't bare the pain of seeing you with someone else... Someone who isn't... Me. I just can't get enough of you. I miss you when you're not there, I miss you when you ARE there. It's so frustrating because I tried so hard to deny my feelings but I just can't help it. I like you Aqua, I fucking like you." Beverly muttered

It felt like something erupted within Aqua, a warm feeling climbing it's way up. It created the warmth in her soul, it filled her full of love and keept the fire burning in her eyes. If that wasn't happiness I don't know what is.

She brought her hands up to the girl's face, softly stroking her cheek. Her palm gripped the girl's chin and she brought it towards her face.

"Who would have thought that I'd actually get the girl" Aqua smiled

Her lips lingered over Beverly's as they locked eyes. Beverly leaned in, her lips brushed against Aqua's but the mermaid pulled her head back with a smirk.

Bwevly leaned in again, this time Aqua allowed their lips to touch for a second before she pulled away again, teasing the girl.

"Ugh Aqua. Kiss me" Beverly groaned

"Say please" Aqua smirked

"I'm not gonna sa-"

"Then I won't kiss you then" Aqua chuckled

"Are you really gonna do this to me right now?" Beverly questioned, her brows furrowed and she crossed her arms against her chest.

"You look so hot when you're angry" Aqua smirked, a blush crept onto Bev's cheek but it was hard to tell since she was already red from anger

"Don't you dare" Bev glared

"Come here" Aqua chuckled, she snaked her arms around the girl's waist and pulled her closer.

She leaned down and captured the girl's bottom lip between hers. Damn, first time Aqua's made the first move.

Aqua's lips brushed hers softly, delicately like butterfly wings. Just long enough that she could inhale her breath, feel the warmth of her skin and the taste of her lips.

It was so moist and breathy, they weren't fighting a battle, but seeking union and the sharing of one breath, one sensation, one timeless and passionate moment. The heat rose in her cheeks as her tongue touched the other girl's tongue quick and electric.

So they kissed under the moonlight in the ocean. A heat layered between them, their mouths moved aggressively against each other, seeking to chase down that elusive liquid lightening that reached through both of them.
