《Into the Shadows》Chapter 17: The Castle Pt. 2

I didn't want to be in the room while they finished setting up for the seance and I certainly didn't want to be a part of the seance either, but it was for the best. If I left the group again, who knew when that thing would reappear and if they tried something without me, they might accidentally give it some sort of power.
"Lia," I looked up at Colby, "We're ready to start."
"Okay..." I stood from my seat in the corner and took a look at their set up.
The salt line was thin, the dowsing rods were practically sacrilegious, and the elements were just asking for trouble. The only devices and method of communication that I approved of in that room was the K-II .
"Give me the salt." I held out my hand to Jake who still held the bottle.
"It's empty." he shrugged looking over to Sam.
"That's it? That's all the salt you brought with you?! That dingy line isn't going to do shit to help you!" I panicked a bit. If they went through with this without the necessary protection we were all pretty much fucked.
"There's more salt in the guesthouse, we'll go get it." Corey said, dragging Jake along by his hood.
"But why do I have to go?" Jake asked trying to escape the extra exercise.
"No one goes any where by themselves! That way there's someone to get help if one of us gets jumped." Corey
"By what? A dog?" Jake raised his eyebrows.
"The demon, moron!" Corey gripped onto Jake's hoodie even tighter and left the room.
"This is a mistake, isn't it?" I asked, "It's going to get attached to one of us and something awful is going to happen and I'm not going to be able to stop it! Maybe we just shouldn't do this at all!"

"It'll be okay, Lia, I promise! If something bad happens we'll call a priest and we'll take care of it. There hasn't ever been a case of someone being seriously injured by a ghost or demon, so it's unlikely that we'd be the firsts now." Colby put a hand on my shoulder and tried to calm me down.
"Yeah... You're probably right. I just need to stop stressing over this so much."
"Well, think about it this way, Lia," Sam said, "We're actually closer to the Vatican here than we were in Los Angeles, so worst case, we take a train or something and get help there."
"But this is an island right? We'd have to take like a boat and a train or a plane." Colby argued.
"Actually there's this thing called the Channel Tunnel that goes under the water of the English Channel and brings trains across from England to the point of Calais in France. " I explained.
"Oh, wow," Colby seemed shocked, "that's actually wicked cool. I kind of hope someone gets possessed now and we have to go to Italy."
"But imagine this," I said, "The demon collapses the tunnel and we all drown."
"Okay, maybe not a possession then..." Sam sighed.
"Yeah, I second, no possessions please," Colby clasped his hands as one would during a prayer and squeezed his eyes shut.
"We're back!" I heard Jake yell down the hall.
"Finally!" I stood at the edge of the flimsy salt circle and waited for him. It was barely there right now, but it was more protection than the rest of them had currently.
Jake gave me an enormous container of salt, probably used to refill the shakers for the dining table, and I made a thick, solid white line. It was about an inch wide and a centimeter tall with a 15 foot diameter. I didn't want there to be any chance of something getting to us.

I pulled my rosary beads from my pocket and knelt by the edge of the circle as I closed it.
"Ave Maria, gratia plena, dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus frutus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, mater dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen." I prayed laying the beads just within the line.
I looked at the boys and motioned them over as I sprayed each of them with some holy water.
"May the lord your God protect you from the temptations of his devils and strengthen your tether to heaven, his righteous kingdom." I sighed with a quick nod, "Alright, I think that's about all we can do. Let's begin!"
We all took our seats around the table and the boys joined hands for a quick moment of focus and silence before beginning.
"Is there anything here that would like to communicate with us?" Sam asked.
The K-II immediately spiked to red.
It's going to be a long night.

Generic Zombie survival Wuxia Cliche story
Same old same old. Zombies attack. Zombies Evolve. Humans evolve. Humans gain superpowers. No deep plot, no plot planned out at all actually. Writing it as I go and because I'm a sad boi trying to use stories as a form of escapism. Not going to proofread, not going to check for grammar or anything. Will definitely read like a machine-translated Chinese amateur web novel. Have a nice day. (The cover is from one punch man, no this is not a fanfic) (I don't actually plan/think anything in this will be too gory or "traumatizing" but since its a zombie survival story I thought I might as well add it, plus the fact that the MC does some pretty messed up stuff. He's the stereotype Wuxia villain so to speak, expect competently and not dumbed down to make the hero look smart.) I will add warnings in author notes before chapter starts if anything particularly "gory" or trigger events happen.

Grey [HIATUS]
I was originally fueled by anger and disdain to write this and looking back, most of what I wrote for this story was unplanned and a bit trashy. I kinda stopped having ideas for this, so I stopped in the end. If you're looking at this right now, you probably shouldn't read this because it's only 12 crappy chapters in and yeah... Sorry to the people who might've liked this. (Maybe one day I'll continue this, but for now, I have other plans) Grey, a prince, is unsure about what to do when he starts running away from an enemy beast tamer. He's unsure on what to do now that his father, the king, is dead. In the forest alone, he'll discover a small companion and a rogue. Together will they figure a way to take back Grey's kingdom? Or will they just die in vain? Let's be honest here, most of you probably like the fox aspect of the story the most. (BTW the cover design is made by me. Terrible, I know) I'm kind of done with writing bs descriptions that I might change in the future, plus I'm not very good with being thoughtful with quotes and stuff like that. I just write what pops into my mind, which is usually stupid things. So the description may or may not be accurate so I've changed it to being very vague.
