《Into the Shadows》Chapter 8: The Langham Room 333 Pt. 3

Colby came down to the lobby to wake me up when they were done doing their investigation and had decided to go to bed until three am. Sam and Colby were exhausted even though they were incredibly jumpy. I told them I would stay awake since I wasn't very tired anyway and watch to make sure nothing too crazy and ghosty happened while they were asleep.
I tried to work on some editing stuff while they were sleeping and eventually with my headache getting stronger and my work getting kind of boring, I decided to sit and just listen to some music. Then, before I even realized what was happening, I fell asleep.
When Sam and Colby woke up to their alarm at three am, I was on the floor in front of the desk chair. I guess I had fallen off in my sleep.
We called Corey and Jake twice to see if they are awake and when they didn't answer, Colby and Sam went back to sleep. At 3:33am, Corey called, so we thought they had just slept through their alarms a bit. We called back but they didn't answer so we walked over to their room to check it out. I recorded that whole thing with the vlog camera since it was too late to be pulling out all the big equipment.
When we arrived, Jake and Corey had been sleeping. Corey had not called Colby and Jake had not done it from Corey's phone. There might have been an explanation because of the prank call app, but we were all too freaked out to care.
Sam confessed to having the same horrible headache as me, which only made us think that is was jet lag. We thought so even more when Colby said he had a headache too, just not as bad as Sam and I. Jake gave us some Advil to help, but I wasn't sure how much it actually could. It was nice of him though.

After a while, we all went back to our rooms for the rest of the night. Sam wanted to try and go back to sleep, but Colby was too freaked out to sleep so he sat in the desk chair while I took his spot on the bed next to Sam with a pillow between us. I was also super overheated so I laid on top of the covers.
I woke up a little while later when Colby grabbed my arm and scared the crap out of me.
"What the fuck were you doing?" he asked me. He seemed seriously freaked out.
"What?" I was so scared that I could barely process what he was talking about.
"In the video!" he yelled.
"What video?!" I yelled back.
"What the hell is going on?" Sam sat up rubbing his head with a hiss when he touched the back of his neck.
"Come look at this!" Colby help the camera up and walked over to Sam's side of the bed.
When Sam stood up off the bed to look at what Colby was trying to show him there was a crash in the bathroom.
"What the fuck was that?!"
The minutes after that were sheer chaos as I watched the two of them panic and pack up to leave. They'd had enough of Room 333. I, on the other hand, was completely confused and so groggy that I barely understood what was happening.
"Guys why are you..." I eventually tried to ask them a question but stopped, "Okay that was very funny, which one of you did that?"
"Did what?" Sam asked giving me the side eye as he checked to make sure everything was in his bag.

"Shook the bed. Were you trying to scare me or wake me up?"
"When?" Colby asked, barely giving me a glance as he checked his own bag.
"Just now."
Neither of them was touching the bed. To have done it, they would have had to kick it to reach it. When they realized what I had just said, their panicked looks grew worse.
"We need to get out of here." Colby grabbed my wrist to yank me off the bed to my feet so I could pack, but immediately the bed started shaking again. This time it was violent and visible to the naked eye, not just something you would feel if you touched it.
I screamed so loud and jumped off the bed. I grabbed anything of mine that I saw and threw it into my duffle bag and back pack, not caring if I had everything.
"Can we leave? Now please!" I was shaking. I felt like if I did anything but yell, fast and loud, I would only have a trembling voice and never be able to finish a word.
I picked up my duffle bag in my right hand to head towards the door, but I tripped over it since my shaking hands had barely been able to lift it off the ground.
"Let's go." Colby said, grabbing my duffle for me and pushing me with my backpack towards the door. Sam was right behind us and with his bag and the big camera's carrying case.
We rushed over to Corey and Jake's room and had them pack their things. I sat on the chair by window, taking short and shaky breaths with my knees tucked up to my chin. I could hear Corey talking to Sam.
"What the hell happened to her?"
"We'll tell you once we get the hell out of here, man, it was crazy."

T.R.E.E.S.E.K.A.I.
Get hit by a truck, die, get reborn, the same old. But what happens when you're reborn as a tree? T.R.E.E.S.E.K.A.I. follows the story of a dryad in a frontier town, watching civilizations get born, thrive, and die on her roots, under her branches. This is more of an ongoing scratchpad of writing experimentation rather than a cohesive narrative so I might do weird things with it from time to time.

The Designated: Out of Control
It happened quicker than anyone would have imagined. Multiple hurricanes were one thing. People had dealt with that in the past. But, like kids playing dominoes, one thing crashed into another. Areas affected by hurricanes needed resources all along the Gulf and East Coasts drew rescuers and resources away from other parts of the country. When wildfires lit up the Pacific coast and mid-west, those areas were already understaffed. Driven by hurricanes in the Pacific basin, uncontrolled wildfires burned through towns, destroying everything in their paths. Across the Pacific, Asia didn't escape. From the Philippines, across China, into Indochina, and Bangladesh and India. Typhoons and cyclones pounded the coasts and far inland. Widespread flooding forced millions from their homes and across international borders. Mexico was hit hard and thousands died in mudslides as Katia slammed into their East Coast. The refugees fled north and west. Rumours started that hundreds of thousands were headed for the US border. Instead of running out of steam in the southern US, several hurricanes tore up the eastern seaboard, devastating cities and renewing their strength before veering east across the Atlantic. Maria and Ophelia veered east and slammed into Europe, reaching as far as the Netherlands and Russia before finally dissipating. After that, too many weather stations were offline to provide any form of co-ordinated information or warnings. Wildfires in Portugal burned ahead of the storms, fanned by hurricane winds. They sparked wildfires leapfrogging across Europe, beyond any one country's ability to cope. Already uneasy from multiple terrorist attacks over the summer, anti-refugee groups seized the opportunity to stage protests across Europe. Some turned violent as they clashed with police forces. Several governments declared martial law to quell the rioting and enforce evacuations along the path of the storms. Rumour and speculation overwhelmed facts. Unrest spilled over into widespread violence. Then sickness broke out in the displaced populations. Within a matter of a dozen weeks, tens of millions died. In the coming winter months hundreds more would follow. The Designated Project was activated.

The End
There are five days left. The End is a miracle 10,000 years in the making that will free all from the confines of the world. The gods will soon be born. There is nothing that can be done about this. Not a webnovel, but a screenplay, submitted as my dissertation for my screenwriting degree. Sort of experimental. I have learned that I dislike writing screenplays, but all the same, I thought I'd post it anyway so it's at least worth something that way.

The Fundamentals
You hear of many tales out there. Some depict worthy heroes wielding tremendous power, noble personas that fight to save the lives of their close friends, family, and all the rest. Good triumphs over evil, that is simply the way the world works, no? While this premise is something inherent to nearly all stories, what exactly the heroes used to attain success can differ greatly. Perhaps they've trained themselves to the limit, pushing past boundaries nobody else could hope to achieve. Others still, have merely inherited the grand legacy of another legendary being, but what they have done with such a legacy would cause their names to be passed on for generations. Rowan is one of the heroes who have ventured beyond the horizon, tempering themselves on a perilous journey all the while and succeeding in attaining strength beyond measure. However, in an unexpected turn of events, this strength caused him to tear open and fall through a hole in the realm he resided in. Now he has ended up in a completely foreign realm, whose inhabitants utilized strange powers that eclipsed his own. Fortune would smile upon him this day, however, as he discovered that they were not hostile, and even offered to teach him their ways. Rowan could see that this was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and eagerly accepted their invitation to learn what would come to be known as: The Fundamentals.
