《Moon - The Guardian Raptor {Jurassic World; Fallen Kingdom Fanfic}》Chapter 6

"They're all dying" Claire spoke, my eyes trailing over all the Dinosaurs still in the cages.
"The blast damaged the ventilation system. We did everything we could" Zia explained, her eyes dropping.
"You tried, that's all we can ask" I murmured, an arm wrapping around her shoulders and comforting her.
"I can open the gates from here" Claire stated, hitting a few buttons on a large control panel.
"Claire...Be careful" Owen said, a sigh escaping me as more of the dinosaurs tried to free themselves, "We're not on an island anymore".
The whirring of all the gates made he step forwards to watch all the cage gates lifting, the Dinosaurs all barging out before being prevented from leaving by a large steel door.
I watched as Claire lifted up the clear protective casing over the red button that opened said door, hesitating as Owen's word made her realize the situation.
"Claire, you press that button and there is no going back" He added.
"I can't let them die" She whispered, her hand still hovering before closing the casing.
A tear fell from my eye, the dinosaurs beginning to quieten, before I felt something wrap around me.
Looking down, I was met with the eyes of the young girl, Maisie, who was tightly cuddling my stomach, tears flowing from her eyes.
The others all watched as the Dinosaurs continued to struggle, my purple eyes on the button.
Before I could stop myself, my hand as well as Maisie's had hit it, the door beginning to open.
The others all spun, Maisie and I still looking at the button.
"We had to, they're alive, like us" Maisie spoke, hiding into my stomach again as I stood up, turning to Claire and Owen.
I sighed deeply, my arms wrapping around Maisie before lifting her to sit on my hip, noticing how tired she looked.

"We better leave before the cavalry arrives" Owen spoke, myself nodding before we all followed him outside.
As we were walking down the stairs outside, a quiet purr caught our attention as we noticed Blue make her way over.
"Hey Girl" Owen spoke before he calmed Claire.
Owen moved towards her, his hand reaching out before he stopped, Blue resting her snout in his palm.
"Blue, come with me" He said, Blue rubbing her head with Owen's hand making me smile, "We'll take you to a safe place, okay?".
I looked over to an empty cage that Owen glanced at, Blue noticing as well before she stepped back, going to turn away before she looked up at me with Maisie still cuddled into me.
"Moon..." She purred, a small smile gracing my lips as I made my way down to the female raptor.
Maisie whimpered in my hold making me shush her calmly, "It's alright, she wont harm you, I promise".
"Hello, little one" Blue smiled, Maisie looking up at her before noticing the blue stripes.
"Y-You're Blue" The young girl whispered in awe making me and Moon laugh quietly before Blue gently nudged Maisie making her giggle.
Once Blue was happy with Maisie, she looked up at me with relieved orange eyes.
"I am glad that you are alive, Alpha" She spoke, my eyes widening in surprise before turning to disgust as she licked up my cheek, turning and slowly running away with a bark of laughter before disappearing into the treeline.
"Troublesome Raptor" I muttered, Maisie giggling in my arms making me turn to her with a smile, "Don't you agree?".
-Time skip-
Owen had argued that I spend the last 3 weeks of my holiday with Maisie at his 'Cabin', Claire agreeing with him saying something about me being too young to look after Maisie.

Despite my disagreement, it was Zia who had convinced them.
I was a Raptor hybrid, the instinct to look after the young girl would make me the perfect candidate.
Gray was distraught at first, both his brothers moving out, before I introduced him to Maisie.
They became friends instantly, even though Gray was a couple of years older than Maisie, they didn't care.
My parents were proud that I was taking care of the young girl, offering to help me put her in school.
Clair and Owen, begrudgingly, took us all on adventures now and then, baby-sitting when my parents couldn't.
It was also Zia who came clothes shopping with us and then house shopping.
After all, she'd be living with us too.

Good Guy Necromancer
Necromancers are murderous, repulsive, utterly ungodly creatures. And then there's Jerry. Jerry is a novice necromancer who treats his undead warmly, seeks to befriend people instead of harvest their bodies, and doesn't mind cracking a skull or two when needed. He genuinely is a good guy—too bad nobody believes him. Jerry tries to settle down, wanting nothing but a peaceful life for him and his undead—and, when that doesn't quite work out, he sets out to adventure. He will make friends, each unique in their own way, and together, they will travel through a variety of striking environments; from a tiny village, to the land of the dead, to a jolly archipelago, to a kingdom on a beanstalk. To save a world that shuns him, Jerry must stand against a large organization of arrogant, mighty wizards. He strives to become stronger while maintaining his kindness, only to realize that, maybe, gentle hearts make the greatest necromancers. This is the story of a delightful man in a harsh world—full of warmth, action, and wise-cracking bone puns. Chapters are usually 2-3k words, and updates are 3/week: Mon, Wed, Fri. If you're looking for another fun, action-packed adventure, check out Cultivator vs. System by yours truly, available on Kindle, KU, and Audible. But read Good Guy Necromancer first.

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.
