《Turning Larissa (GirlxGirl)》Chapter Thirty Four

"I think she's waking up!"
The muffled voice sounded relieved.
"About time, she's too old for naps in the day time," another voice said.
I tried to open my eyes, but the light that seeped through my eyelids was blinding, and forced them shut again.
I eventually managed to force my eyelids apart, but my eyes would not stay still. It felt like they were moving faster than should be possible. As they flitted around the room, I realised I was in a hospital. There were a few people in the room with me, but my eyes wouldn't settle on any of them.
Finally, I found something to focus on. The most beautiful woman I had ever seen appeared in my line of sight, and my eyes stopped rolling around. Her emerald green eyes seemed to have some kind of power over mine.
"Hey, Ivy. How are you feeling?" Her soft voice asked.
"I'm okay, I think," I whispered. "But... who are you?"
I watched as the colour drained from her face, and her relieved expression turn to shock and fear.
"You... you don't remember me?" She asked.
"Honey, I was joking," I laughed nervously, realising my joke was not appreciated by anyone else in the room.
"You're a dick," Rob sighed, sitting down next to Alice, who was laughing slightly now.
"That's really not funny, Ivy," Larissa said, with a frown.
"I'm sorry," I said, grabbing her hand so she couldn't walk away. "I was just trying to lighten the mood. You're all so serious."
"Because you bounced your head off a go-kart and knocked yourself out for four hours," Rob said. "I'm gonna get a coffee."
He stood up and walked out of the room, and I guessed he was a little pissed off with my terrible humour attempt. Alice stood up after, and came over to me.
"I'm gonna go with him. Liam and Dana are in the cafe, and we've called Tracy to let her know what's happened. She's gonna come pick him up soon."
"Thanks, Alice," I smiled.
She walked out of the room, leaving me alone with Larissa, who was staring at me. I couldn't work out if she was happy I was awake, or still pissed off about my joke.

"Larissa, I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean to-"
"You scared me, you idiot!" She said, raising her voice slightly.
Although I knew she was telling me off, I was happy with her reaction.
"Why are you smiling?" She asked, more annoyed.
"It's just... it's good to know you don't want me to forget you," I smiled.
"Why would I want that?" She asked, saddened by my words.
"Well, you said you wished we could go back to when we first met, before all the drama," I replied, recalling our conversation at the barbeque.
She sighed heavily, and pulled a chair up next to my bed.
"Ivy, I didn't really mean that."
"I think you did," I smiled. "But that's okay, we do have a fucked up story so far."
"But it's our fucked up story," she laughed. "So really, how are you feeling?"
"My head hurts. A lot."
"Yeah, that's what happens when you lose a fight with a go-kart," she joked.
"Shut up," I frowned. "Who even called you?"
"Nobody," she laughed. "I work here, remember? I saw you coming in from the ambulance, so I followed you."
"Does that mean you're my doctor?" I asked hopefully.
"Not really, but I do need to check your blood pressure and take your temperature," she said, pulling a small cart, with the blood pressure machine on, closer to her.
She fastened the cuff around my arm, and pressed a button which made the cuff inflate. While the machine was reading my blood pressure, she checked my temperature, then wrote down the readings on the chart next to my bed.
"Everything seems back to normal now. But you do have a concussion, so you need someone to stay with you for the next twenty four hours. Will Rob be able to stay with you?"
"Yeah, it should be fine. If he's not still mad at me," I laughed.
"Well, if he can't, or if he needs to work or anything, just call me and I'll come over," she smiled. "I've got to go now, Ivy. I'll get a nurse to bring you some medication to take home, and to discharge you."

"Thanks, Doc."
"Please, try not to injure yourself in the next few hours, I do have other patients," she laughed, as she left the room.
A few minutes later, a nurse came in with some pain relief, as Larissa had said, and told me she would be back soon with the discharge papers. As she was leaving, Liam came into the room, followed by Tracy.
"Hey," I smiled. "I'm really sorry I ruined go-karting."
"Don't be silly," Liam replied, bending down to hug me.
"The nurse said you'd be okay to go home shortly," Tracy said. "Are you feeling okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," I replied. "Just a little tired."
"Well, when you're up and about properly again, pop down to the home, and we'll arrange another date for Liam to come and stay again," she said. "Maybe just without go-karting next time.
"Good idea," I laughed.
"Thank you for this weekend, Ivy," Liam said. "I can't wait to come again."
"I can't either," I grinned. I was so happy to have him back in my life.
I said goodbye to Liam, and thanked Tracy for coming to pick him up, and apologised for my inconvenience. Hopefully, it wouldn't be too long before Liam came back to mine again.
When I was left alone again, I decided to try and get a little bit more sleep while I waited for the nurse to discharge me. However, my plans were ruined by Rob's sudden entrance.
"Are you seriously trying to sleep again?" He said, a little more cheerfully than the last time he spoke to me.
"Shhhh," I laughed. "I'm not feeling well, I'm allowed to sleep."
"You can sleep when you're home," he said. "Larissa said you need someone to stay with you tonight, so I'm gonna stay at yours if that's alright?"
"Yeah that's fine, as long as you let me sleep."
"Yeah, but I've got to work early tomorrow, so Larissa is gonna come over in the morning."
A massive smile appeared on my face, and he laughed.
"It's a good job you were joking, you know," he said. "She's been on edge, pacing around the room since we got here."
"Really?"
He just nodded and smiled, and I hoped he was being genuine. It was nice to know Larissa was worried about me.
It took another hour or so for the nurse to discharge me, so Rob and I had just watched TV to pass the time. Alice went to take Dana home, then came back to pick us up.
The nurse insisted that I needed to be pushed down to the car in a wheelchair, even though I could walk fine. So naturally, Rob pushed me as fast as he could, spinning me around in the corridors like I was a child in a shopping cart. We received quite a few disapproving looks from doctors and nurses on the way out.
"Rob! She's got a concussion, you moron!" Alice scolded him as she saw us turn a corner near to the exit, where she was waiting.
Rob quickly stopped messing around, and tried to keep a straight face while he apologised.
Alice helped me out of the wheelchair, and put her arm around my waist, leading me to her car which was just outside the doors.
"Thanks, Alice," I said. "But really, I can walk fine."
"You can't drive a go-kart, though," Rob laughed, opening the car door for me.
"Seriously, dude, fuck off," I laughed.
We all got in the car, and Alice drove to my apartment. Rob and I got out of the car, and he kissed Alice through her window, and said goodbye. I waved to her, then climbed up the steps and opened the door.
"You hungry?" Rob asked, when we were inside.
"Nah, I'm just gonna go to sleep," I replied, walking to my room.
"Okay, shout if you need anything."
He had already settled on the sofa and turned the xbox on. I walked in to my room, quickly changed into pyjamas and lay down on the bed.
Usually, my head was full of useless thoughts when I wanted to sleep, but tonight there was nothing, and I fell asleep almost immediately.
