《Ghost of My Life》chapter 19

A few days went by before i started actually feeling better, but Danny was an amazing caretaker. It settled a bit of confidence that he'd be a good and attentive father to our baby. He was obsessed with petting and holding his hands on or around my stomach anytime he laid down with me, which sent warm butterflies through my chest.

I was finally well enough to walk around on my own, and the nausea had subsided for the most part, no longer intensified by the flu and only brought on by the pregnancy.

"Y/n, darling~!" Danny called from downstairs in the kitchen. The smell of something cooking set the hunger in my stomach as i followed the smell. Danny was in the kitchen spreading peanut butter over toast, he looked at the stairs as i hit the bottom and he smiled at me.

"Here you go, eat up." He slid the plate of toast my way.

"Peanut butter?" I raised an eyebrow at him, his smile turned into a goofy grin

"Its good, trust me. Its also alot healthier for you." He eyed my expression out of the corner of his eye as i sighed and rolled my eyes in defeat. I didn't want to argue with him about it, and nibbled on the corner.

"Still not feeling better?" His smile faded and he reached a hand out to rub my back. I shook my head.

"No, i am. I'm just thinking.." my mind wandered off as i pictured Joseph, slick with blood.

"Hon...don't worry." He sighed, scooping his arms around my shoulders and pulling me into him.

'We're going to get him tonight." He said darkly, carressing my chin. My chest warmed and I couldn't help the smile that broke out on my face.

"The sooner the better." I kissed his jaw and neck, he shuddered and his arms tightened around me.

"Get washed up, we're heading out in a few hours. I have it on good authority that he'll be home alone tonight."

"How'd you find that out?" I took another bite of toast, he was right. This was good.

"I'm a stalker, remember?" He shrugged nonchalantly, taking a bite of his own toast.

"Oh, right. Forgot about that bit."

"These latest murders have been outside my usual M.O." he hummed, amused to himself as he picked up his cup of coffee and took a long sip.

"I hope you're prepared to deal with me without caffeine." I joked, looking up at Danny. The doctor had explicitly said no coffee or caffeine.

"Just promise you wont attack me. I'm not to blame for the inability to drink coffee while pregnant." He chuckled, kissing my head as he set his cup back on the counter.

"No but i am pregnant because of you." I nudged his ribs with my elbow playfully and he chuckled.

"Touche, darling." He said, smiling down at me.

"Are you gonna tell him?" He raised an eyebrow at me as i took the last bite of toast.

"Wasn't planning on it, i didn't want to give him any sense of a weak spot on me." I said, chewing thoughtfully.

"Smart, but we could just restrain him. Draw out the satisfaction."

He does have a point....

"Do you have anything to do that with? All i have is plastic wrap." I looked up at him thoughtfully, only to be greeted by surprised, wide eyes.

"Plastic wrap?" He asked, clearly taken aback.

"I mean its durable, its easy with clean up, it makes for a really good sterile environment set up. Its got alot of uses.." i picked up my second piece of toast and picked at the flakey crust. He shrugged, tensing his lips into a "not bad" kind of expression before he picked up the cup of coffee and took another drink.

======================================

The hardest part about preforming any murder was the waiting. Waiting for the moment to strike. Danny and I had donned our matching Ghostface gear, i had a hard time breathing in the mask so i kept it to the side for now. He watched into the house with binoculars, looking like a real creep doing so. I rolled my eyes and shook my head, i wonder how he came to doing this.

"Ready, my love?" He asked, putting the binoculars down and turning his head to look at me through his mask.

"I'm ready." I said, slipping on the mask finally. He chuckled softly, and petted my head.

"Be careful, i dont want anything to happen to you or our baby." He said, stroking the fabric smooth.

"I will." I said as he took his hand off my head and slipped it into my hand, and leaned down to pluck a dark canvas back off the ground. He lead us through the grass and treelines to a dark and obscured side of the house, the sole window was popped oh-so slightly opened. He jimmied the window open carefully, the creak of the old wood set him on edge. He opened the window just enough for the both of us to slip through, and hopped inside. He carefully helped me slip inside and brushed off any dust or dirt i had collected on my cloak.

We quietly crept through the dirty and smoke-infested house. Danny made a point of going ahead of me, and turning around every possible corner. He caught Joseph sitting in the living room, and it sounded like he was sobbing.

Danny looked at me and gestured for me to stay there with an open hand, and he turned the corner to stand behind Joseph, and pulled his knife from his jacket.
