I had a request to write a sonnet about a happy family. I'm not always the greatest at writing things about happiness because I believe that happiness is something that comes in bursts and fleeting moments. To me, it's difficult to be happy all the time. For a group of people living under one roof, it's nearly impossible.

So here is my take on a happy family.

Happiness is a series of moments

It is not something that is definite

Take family; its working components

It's a balance that is so delicate

Father and mother seem to be in love

But love is not easy; it takes effort

Screaming and fighting can be heard above

Despite that, you are each other's consort

And then siblings fight more than mom and dad

There will always be constant bickering

Yet family survives the good and bad

Family's love is never withering

A "happy family" is never sustained

Though family's love is always obtained
