《My Sonnets and Poetry》Not So Perfect

June 2, 2011

Okay, so today for an English assignment, we had to compose a sonnet in iambic pentameter form. It's like Shakespearean sonnets. We had to have ten syllables in each line and fourteen lines following the abab, cdcd, efef, gg layout. Anyway, we were given a list of words that had to go at the end of each line. So, here's mine:

Lips are sealed in suffering quiet.

Wanting, needing that long overdue kiss.

Having an internal, erupting riot,

Lead me into the never-ending abyss.

Needing, wanting to escape through the trees.

Leaving at sunset in late summer's June,

With the flourishing of the smooth green peas.

Yet beneath having wrinkles of a prune.

Only being a cheap plastic crystal.

And please just take me to that lonely bar.

In my hand you place a lovely pistol.

Hearing the soft strumming of your guitar,

No thinking, regrets, having not brooded,

Song ends, suffering stops, life concluded.

Well, there you go. That’s my sonnet. My friend really liked it. I hope you all do, too.
