《Melissa Shield X Male Reader: Advancements of the Heart》Epilogue

It had been about 4 years since you and Melissa had fully developed the Full Gauntlet. And boy, since then, things have been absolutely crazy. From you guys getting a variety of different patents, trademarks, and other legal issues out of the way, to some minor villain attacks and people trying to kill...well all of you. Had to thank All Might and his students for saving several times. Regardless, you two grew closer and continued on your journey, and work on developing new pieces of tech.
Some of these new technologies were a holo-shield, tactical goggles, quirk scanners, and so on and so forth. But aside from all of that, you two were happy. You guys had founded your own lab, got Adrian involved, and exploded in popularity. You guys got more and more work, signed with some support companies, and got even more exposure and more work. But still, you guys had graduated and moved to sunny California. Not the best place to live, and a massive change from Japan to say the least.
But aside from all that, things were going fine for you both. You were currently inside your at home lab, working on some new tech for you guys. Drone technology to be more specific. You were trying to improve security drones for the government and other corporations while also working on delivery drones. As you were working on things, you heard the door to the lab open. You smiled as you knew who it was. You silently allowed her to walk up to you as you kept doing some wirework. She wrapped her arms around your neck and placed her head on the back of your head.
You both smiled and you heard her sigh. You kept doing some wirework as you both continued to stay in your positions and remained almost still. You felt her hair flow around your neck as her head turned and she pecked you on the back of the head. You chuckled a little as she kissed along the back of your neck a little. You raised your arms and stopped her a little as you laughed some more.

(Y/N): Alright, alright. You got me, ok?
You turned around and saw Melissa standing there. You smiled at her and she did the same for you. You glanced down and saw the ring on her finger as well. You smiled a bit wider as you looked back up at her.
(Y/N): So, what's going on with you today?
Melissa: Nothing much. Just got back from a conference with Adrian.
(Y/N): Oh yeah. How's he doing?
Melissa: Alright. Pretty nervous about this upcoming deal.
(Y/N): I mean, we are working with Hawks and Best Jeanist. What did you expect? A walk in the park.
Melissa: Hey. My uncle.
(Y/N): Hey...good point actually.
Melissa giggled slightly and walked up and leaned against your workbench. She looked down at your task and smiled a bit and reached over. She turned the prints and looked them over as you continued to work on the drone. She reached behind the drone and grabbed a socket wrench and handed it to you. You took it and tightened the bolt along a socket for some plates.
Melissa: Military or commercial.
(Y/N): This one is military. The one over there is commercial-based.
Melissa: Want me to get started on that one?
(Y/N): Nah. I can get it no problem.
Melissa: If you insist. I'm going to get some of my own work started.
(Y/N): And what work is that?
Melissa: I'm thinking of making Full Greaves.
(Y/N): So, the Full Gauntlet but for feet?
Melissa: Yep.
(Y/N): Want me to do framework for it?
Melissa: Nah. I got it. I still have our designs from 3 years back.
(Y/N): Alrighty then.
You and Melissa sat in silence for the next few hours. Neither of you wanted to disturb the others, especially when there was work to be done. You were able to finish constructing the drone for the military within the hour. The commercial drone was much easier compared to the military drone. Mostly because you didn't need to worry about weapons and backup procedures. From that, you were able to look it over for a final review.

You walked over and did the same with the military drone. After looking through the boot, you looked at the backup for the drone to make sure all measures were in place. Once they were in, you walked over and saw Melissa 3D printing some parts for the greaves. You looked them over and smiled a bit. You looked over and saw the parts already welded together. You took off your goggles and began to work a bit on the framework.
Melissa: I got it.
(Y/N): Worry about the printed. Then we can talk.
Melissa: Don't be that guy.
(Y/N): Nope.
You ignored her and continued to work along the frames. She pushed the prints for said framework onto your side of the desk. You grabbed them and walked over to your workbench and continued to work along with everything. As you tightened a few bolts here and there and got the whole thing together. You got most of the framework done the time Melissa finished the printing and released a yawn.
(Y/N): Maybe you should go rest up a bit.
Melissa: Maybe later. Want to go and just hang out?
(Y/N): We can. But I still think you need to go and rest up.
Melissa: I will shortly.
(Y/N): Alright then. Come on.
You and Melissa walked from your basement and crashed down in the living room of your house. You turned on the TV and found a nature documentary on the plains of Africa and chilled out. Aside from all that, things were alright. Pretty boring.
(Y/N): So, tell me again the point of just "chilling" out?
Melissa: Relaxing.
(Y/N): I know that. I meant, we are pretty backed up on work.
Melissa: I just wanted to relax from that meeting.
(Y/N): That bad uh?
Melissa: Wasn't bad. Just tiresome. And I've been feeling...out of it for the past few weeks.
(Y/N): Well, is there anything I can do to assist you?
Melissa: Not really. But...
(Y/N): But?
Melissa: It's nothing. Coffee?
Melissa quickly got up and walked into the kitchen. You reached out a little to her but she was halfway there the time you fully reacted to anything. You stood up and walked over to her. Melissa continued to look away from you as you walked over to her. You placed a hand on her shoulder and tried to get her attention.
(Y/N): Melissa? Did I do something wrong?
Melissa: What? No. There's just...no real easy way to say this.
(Y/N): To say what? What happened? Is the lab going under?
Melissa: What? No.
(Y/N): Is Adrian dying?
Melissa: Also no.
(Y/N): Then what is wrong?
Melissa: It's just...
(Y/N): Melissa. You can trust me. There is no reason to keep anything a secret from me.
Melissa: I know. I know. It's just...(sighs; to herself) Ok, ok, ok. (Projecting) We love making stuff. We plan everything out, give it our own special touches, everything. We just...do it. And I want to keep making all these cool things with you for years. But what if...what if we made something together without THAT much control.
(Y/N): You're-
Melissa: Pregnant.
Your eyes widen. You let reality settle in and are in utter shock and awe. You lose all source of words and just let the gravity of the situation hit you.
(Y/N): H-How?
Melissa: Birthday.
(Y/N): Birth-Oh, crap. Well, what do you want to do with it?
Melissa: I want to keep it. Make it better than me, that's for sure. What about you?
(Y/N): Don't think I have a choice then. And- we have well-paying jobs. And, and-
Melissa silenced you with a kiss. The two of you made out for a little bit and you picked Melissa up and placed her on the table as the two of you continued to kiss.
Melissa: I love you!
(Y/N): I love you too, Sweetcheeks!
That night made your girlfriend one of the evilest things around...a pregnant woman. And it was all so worth it.

The Heart Grows
Dungeon games? Yeah, they're a good way to waste a few hours. The trick is to know the map and plan appropriately. Of course, it doesn't matter if you get beaten. You revise your plan for that map and do a bit better next time. Man, it'd really suck to wake up as a dungeon heart in a fantasy world you know nothing about, barely able to even work out how to control your dungeon. Lucky that wouldn't happen to anybody, huh? What with only having one chance at getting things right, you'd have to plan extra-defensive. This story should be getting chapters published weekly. I have a comfortable buffer set up and on top of the weekly writing I am committing, a commissioner has donated two monthly writing slots to ensure this remains on a weekly schedule. There will be a stat block at the beginning of every chapter bar the first, and a handy map at the end. All my works come with a CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license. This means you are free to download, publish, and even make derivative works of my writing so long as you include this license, attribution, and don't sell the works. Keep it free!
