M A R N I E

I feel like I'm going to throw up.

My leg is bopping in nervousness and my hands are clutching my overalls.

The show ended about 15 minutes ago, and to say that it was good would be a vile understatement.

Badlands, the band performed covers after covers and they were all fabulous. I don't think I have ever heard such talent in one night. But here I was sitting on the stairwell at the 2nd level because Val decided to dance and I could not be more bothered when a guy asked me to dance with him. So I simply ran.

"Yeah, you cunt. Avremmo mandato la droga a sud, non a est. E l'hai perso, cazzo?" A female voice asked, but when I heard no response I guessed it was because she was on the phone.

Translation: We were going to send the drugs south, not east. And you fucking lost it?

"Allora, la droga arriverà stasera? Sì? Stanno meglio perché se non lo fanno ti ammazzo, cazzo." Another voice said, this time this voice was masculine, my eyes widened as I decided to not stay here any longer

But just like my luck is always so shit the door opened right as I got up.

"Hey!" A feminine voice was heard, the same voice on the phone and I turned around to see a girl about Val's age. She was the drummer of Badlands.

"What are you doing here?" She asked her voice stern and I tried to look anywhere but her boobs that were simply covered with a sticker.

"I- I was just-" I was interrupted as the door opened again and we both turned our heads to see who it was. Me out of curiosity.

Oh, fuck me.

"What the fuck is happening here?" Arthur said, her tall and lean body moving towards us. Her eyebrows were furrowed due to annoyance.

"This chick was just standing here eavesdropping to put conversation." The girl put one hand on her hip and gestured with the other one to me. A guy joined her, winking at me and then sliding an arm around her shoulders they left. He was the bassist.

"Leave, I'll handle it," Arthur said taking out a knife, her voice cold and I suddenly lost mine. My eyes widened and my throat felt like the Sahara.

"Wait- no the fuck I wasn't eavesdropping," I said my voice shaky, I looked between Arthur and the girl who was now walking back, her grin saccharine.

"Yeah, we'll see about that," Arthur said before nearing me.

No.

I took a step back, my eyes widening even more. I put out a hand in front of me to stop her from nearing me. I shook my head multiple times, words leaving my vocabulary.

"I-I-" I was interrupted by her chuckle and her looking down at her red boots and shaking her head. When she looked back up at me her smile was deranged.

"What's wrong baby? Only know one letter in your alphabet?" She smirked, my back met the glass doors leading to the terrace and I sucked in an inaudible breath.

"I wasn't eavesdropping, I swear. I just- decided to come here because it was quiet." I said, patting myself on the back for not stuttering, her dark eyes slithered down my body and then slowly back up and met my eyes. She licked her blood-red lips and chuckled.

"What? Baby, doesn't like loud music?" She mocked and I shook my head, my hand went behind my back to look for the doorknob. I placed my hand on it as she neared me even more.

I was ready to book it and bolt as my hand clenched around the knob and twisted it but the door didn't budge. But it did make a huge noise.

Bravo.

In a second her eyes flew from my face to my hand and slowly a grin formed on her face.

"Trying to escape? Oh don't worry little lamb, I won't hurt you. Well, not too much that is." She grinned her eyes still on my hand and I could feel tears forming in my eyes. I blinked them away as she flipped the knife, playing with it.

My breaths came out shaky as she neared me, the warmth from her body hitting mine. She was taller than me and towered over my small frame. My hand was clammy but still clenched on the knob. I continued to look at the floor, my jaw clenched to not let my teeth quiver and give away the fact that I am, infact, shitting my pants.

Arthur's knife met the aluminium frame on the glass doors behind me as she trailed it. The high pitched sound made me wince as I gritted my teeth.

"I want some fresh air." She said out of the blue and my eyes flew to hers and peered at her serene face.

"What?" I asked quietly, my brain was going haywire.

"Yeah, join me?" She asked and with my eyes still, on hers, I stared at her. She grinned before offering me a hand. I flinched back as I saw the knife still in the same hand offered to me. I glanced at it to her and then back.

"Oh sorry. Habit." Her words scare me. What fucking habit? Do you go around stabbing people as a hobby? What the fuck?

Arthur switched the blade from one hand to another and I look at it for a few seconds, contemplating grasping it.

How would her hand feel? More rational question is, I was just planning to book it, why am I accompanying her for fresh air? What the fuck?

"What's your name?" She asked nonchalantly, had she not known my name? She did make me feel like a fool this morning.

"Marnie," I said taking her hand, wanting to cower back at the calluses brushing against my soft hands.

"I know, I'm Arthur, call me Art." She grinned and I swallowed the lump in my throat.

Why the fuck did she ask?

"Hi, Art," I muttered as she lifted her other hand and placed it above my head on the glass doors. I flinched in surprise at the loud sound of her metal knife and rings clanging against the glass.

"Hi, Marnie." She grinned, amusement coating her flat tone and my face flushed my embarrassment.

Her hand slid down and slid behind me. While doing so touched the silver of skin peeking where my top ended and the overall pant started. I flinched at her cold rings and accidentally stepped forward and crashed into her.

It just keeps getting worse and worse.

Arthur looked down at me before pressing her finger on the screen I failed to see as the door beeped. I looked back and twisted my hand still gripping the cold metal knob that was now warm and clammy and pushed the door open.

The door was heavy as when I pushed it didn't move much quicker as when she placed her hand above the door as she pushed it open. I forced myself to feel indifferent and not be bothered by her body being so close to mine as fresh air finally hit me.

Now the only thing I was worried about, was what the gell was she going to do to me?
