《Just Friends》PROLOGUE

"What the hell?"
Jade raised her head, the cacophony of the ringing cell phone bringing her out of her immense concentration.
When Jade Tucker was in her writing mode there were very few people who dared to disturb her. Normally, as a rule she never picked up the cell phone while she was in the middle of a story. Not even if it was the president calling. But the caller id indicated that the call was from Mrs Carter, the mother of her best friend.
Jade pushed herself away from the table where she had been busy clicking at her keyboard and picked up the cell phone which was ringing shrilly on her bed.
"Hello, Jade is that you?" Mrs Carter's voice was still had the sweet edge to it that Jade remembered.
"Hi, Mrs Carter! How are you?"
It had been ages since Jade had last met Mrs Carter. 3 years atleast. Julia's wedding was the last time they had met.
What with Mrs Carter alternating between her house in the suburbs and Julia's house in the city, and with all the writing Jade had been doing it had become quite impossible for them to find time to meet each other.
And the main person holding them together was also missing.
"I'm great, Jade. It's been too long since we last met." Mrs Carter said.
"What with you being such a busy body, always on the go!"
Mrs Carter laughed, "You have been quite busy yourself Miss Jade Tucker. 4 novels in 3 years is a big achievement I believe. Mind you I read all of them."
It didn't matter if any other people in this world read her books or not, but Jade was sure of one thing, her mom, Mrs Carter, Julia and Nicole would always read her books.

"And did you like them?"
"Do you need to ask? I loved them! And don't you think I didn't notice that you used my dialogue in 'Static'."
Jade laughed. She never thought that it could go past the sharp eye of Mrs Carter.
In a way she actually wanted her to read and know that she was thinking about her.
Mrs Carter had always been like a second mother to her, taking care of Jade as much as her own children.
"How is Julia?"
Julia was Mrs Carter's elder daughter, and one of Jade good friends and avid readers.
"Julia is good, very excited for Alec's return though."
"Alec's return?"
Jade who has been balancing on the edge of the bed plopped down onto the floor on getting the unexpected news.
"Yes, sweetie. That's what I called to tell you. Alec is coming back. On this coming Monday. I thought I'll let you know. Isn't it great news?" Mrs Carter sounded as excited as a child going to Disney world for the first time.
"Yes.... Uh... Great news!" Jade tried to sound enthusiastic.
They spoke for some more time, Mrs Carter asking about her mom's health and inviting them for dinner to celebrate Alec's homecoming.
After saying her goodbyes, Jade kept the phone and just sat on the floor staring at the screen.
Alexander Carter was coming back.
Her best friend in the whole world was coming back.
And surprisingly that was the last thing she wanted.

Wander West, in Shadow
BOOK 1 COMPLETED A young wizard journeys west, through dark forests and dangerous lands, searching for something. Accompanied by a wild witch who has secrets of her own, they come across terrible creatures, hauntings, cursed villages, and memories from their past. Who else will they meet along their journey, and to find what he is looking for, how far will the wizard have to wander west? NOTE: The above synopsis is intentionally written to be as spoiler-free as possible. If you would like a more in-detail synopsis, one that contains minor spoilers, please check out the "Synopsis" chapter at the beginning of this fiction. If you read and enjoy, please leave a rating or review! FORMERLY TITLED: THE GLIMMERLING This story was formerly titled "The Glimmerling", because the first part was a short story of that title; it has since been expanded upon, thus the title change. Chapters 1-8 (30k words) are the first 'arc', if you want to get a feel for the story. To give some context on the setting: Magic is a bit weaker in this story than you might be used to, and we start off following some relatively new magic users. For some perspective, being able to light a campfire with magic is considered relatively advanced for someone who is the age of the main character. Magic can become very powerful - and there are some examples of powerful wizards within this story - but it's not where the main characters are yet. Part of the story is about following them as they learn more about magic. Enemies are also very dangerous, and running, hiding, or trying to talk their way out of a dangerous situation is often a better choice than fighting for the characters. While I have added tags for traumatizing content, sexuality, violence, swearing, etc. I try to avoid super-explicit descriptions of these things. But they are part of the story.

Dimensions intersection
The 100 years war.Countless gods, devils, heavenly demons, dragons, beast emperors and many more supreme beings fought for supremacy.Due to the war space cracks plagued the dimensions causing them to intersect almost making them destroy each other. After countless efforts the dimensions finally stabilized making a whole new unique dimension.Note: some of you may not like the reincarnation tag so this is to explain some details coming in the plot (NO SPOILERS).the mc will come from earth but unlike lots of novels it will play a major role in his power and character development, i am always open for criticismIt will all be cleared up in the future with lots of fun. IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!: this was supposed to be surprise but as i went more deeply through the rules (in wuxiaworld) i found it will really be hard to be added to the front page, i like when i start something that i must finish it in the most efficient and best way possible with no regrets, so i added this, don't worry it won't be a spoiler, i am just giving a hint, as you already know from the title this novel features dimensions, and since this novel is made on wuxiaworld it must have something related to it, so figure it out a novel about dimensions and wuxiaworld which is full of fantasy novels. I hope you can support me in wuxiaworld so i could reach the main page, if you genuinely like the novel just look it up in original novels in wuxiaworld fourms and click it just for a view, thank you for the support. Thank you for reading.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
