CHAPTER THIRTEEN
EONGHAN walked through the coffee shop's door, the bell ringing as he entered. checking his watch he looked back up searching for soonyoung who had practically begged him to show up.
"jeonghan," his head snapped in the direction from where he had heard his name. there, frantically waving his hand, was soonyoung.
accompanied by seungkwan as well as jihoon. he made his way over to the table, the sunlight beaming through the wide window.
"I ordered you something already, since you were ten minutes late," soonyoung commented, pushing the cup towards his friend.
"why'd you wanna meet? what was so important that you made me cancel on seungcheol?" jeonghan said.
the three boys all looked to each other, sharing looks that were confusing to jeonghan. he sipped his drink as he waited for them to answer.
"so...you and seungcheol..." seungkwan questioned, the three boys leaning in closer to each other. their eyes drilling holes straight through jeonghan.
the older boy just raised an eyebrow, implying he didn't know what they were asking.
and so they went on; "he came back awfully happy."
and then seungkwan rolled his eyes and blurted out, "his smile was the smile of someone who got some ass. I would know, hansol always smiles like that afterwards."
jeonghan practically choked on his drink, while soonyoung's and jihoon's jaws hit the floor of the cafè. seungkwan earned himself a soft slap on the arm from soonyoung, all he did was mutter 'what'?
the room temperature suddenly rose, and jeonghan's face turned a bright red, "w-hat...I...im under no obligation to discuss that."
jihoon gasped, covering his mouth with his hand, "you guys did fuck."
jeonghan tried to grasp the situation his friends were putting him through, why were they so interested in this? he was too flustered to even answer.

"but I thought you were mad at him?" soonyoung skeptically asked.
"listen, I'm leaving—"
"no!" the three boys said in unison, leaning on the table as jeonghan began to stand up causing him to sit right back down out of embarrassment from their noisy voices.
"why do you guys want to talk about this? it's my personal life."
"because we're your friends, we share these things with each other duh." seungkwan rolled his eyes at the end, expecting it to loosen his friend up a bit.
instead he just shook his head while taking another sip out of the cup. he was planning on making a run for it, but he knew his shorter friend has a lot of speed built up inside him.
then soonyoung clicked his tongue and snapped his left hand, "it was make up sex."
the two other boys 'oh'd before turning their attention back to jeonghan.
"why are you so interested in this?"
"cause, were looking out for you. is it serious you know? jeonghan, I just don't wanna see you get hurt," soonyoung was now half smiling.
"we've known seungcheol since highschool, aside from you he's only had one other but she played him a lot," jihoon sipped the iced coffee.
"played?" the older boy questioned.
"yeah, he caught her and just always let it go. she was kind of a bitch." seungkwan confirmed. "he always just let it go, she like brainwashed him into thinking no one would love him. we tried convincing him that she's a piece of shit."
"I'm telling you. A B-I-T-C-H." jihoon commented.
jeonghan suddenly felt a pang in his heart, he never knew this. none of it, and he was realizing that he never even asked seungcheol about himself. not as much as seungcheol made sure to find out about him.

as a matter of fact, jeonghan did not know a lot about his new significant other.
"I didn't know she was that bad," he said.
"yeah, he never really talks about her, not as much as he talks about you. I swear this boy," seungkwan raised both his eyebrows and rested his chin on his folded hands.
"so are you serious about him?" soonyoung asked.
before answering, jeonghan thought to himself. was he serious about seungcheol? he assumed yes because all he wanted was to just be with him. constantly, he loved the way he made him feel.
like it was just them and no one else. no one else mattered besides each other.
and he enjoyed that security.
"all I know is that I really really fucking like him," jeonghan sighed while leaning his head against the window. "not to sound cliche but he makes my heart race and all that crap, more than jisoo ever did."
all the boys froze, their mouths hanging open. jeonghan realized he finally was able to speak his name without feeling like his own throats was enclosing itself.
and that is when they all knew, jeonghan was definitely serious about seungcheol.

Author's Note: As of right now the release schedule for Exodus | Book 2 of the Rise of the Paragon Series will be released weekly on Mondays, and Thursdays at 3:00 pm EST. Writing Rise of the Paragon is a personal experiment of mine in writing a grand-scale novel within the LitRPG genre. I have written some fiction in the past, but none near as ambitious in the content as I eventually envision Rise of the Paragon will be. So! Join me on my journey, provide helpful criticism, edits, or whatever suits your mind! I appreciate any and all feedback!!!! We also have a Discord for anybody who wants to talk all things Rise of the Paragon!! Genesis Discord Also, consider joining my Patreon! Fair Warning: Blue Screens, and somewhat overpowered protagonists! The main character's point of view is described in first person. Every other character is in third person. That's just how I've chosen to present my writing style. REWRITE/REVISE is currently in progress. Any suggestions? Comment on their respective chapters!

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!
