《The Alpha's Mistake》-Chapter 21-

I was sitting in the guest room, just daydreaming about anything and everything really, when Gigi walked in. I sat up and greeted her, when she began talking.
Gigi's words startled me, but completely relieved me of my worries. I had been so worried about not seeing eye to eye with Gigi and upsetting her. That would've been terrible, especially considering how sweet she has been to me, taking me in when I had nowhere to go.
Gigi
smiled sadly but I could tell there was more to the conversation than she was letting on.
Gigi cried, and my heart wept for her. I'd feel terrible if Knox's mate didn't talk to me or see herself as someone who shouldn't have a mate.
I reassured.
Gigi began sobbing, tears trailing down her cheeks in seemingly never ending streaks.
Gigi smiled sadly.
I smiled back, not annoyed at the fact that I had lost a chance to be Luna. Lunas are women who are respected by the entire pack and how could someone expect to be respected by an entire pack when their own mate doesn't respect them?
Gigi hugged me.
Gigi wiped her eyes and questioned me.
I responded. I was quite hungry, even though I had eaten in large amounts throughout the day.
Gigi left the room, closing the door as she left, and I took my time in washing my face, applying moisturiser and brushing my hair.
Gigi and Balaj's house was quite big, and I couldn't remember where Gigi and Balaj's room was, even though Gigi had shown me around the entire house just yesterday. All I could remember is that it was in the Alpha corridor a few flights up the stairs, but there were loads of rooms in that corridor. So instead of hunting down Gigi and Anaxi, I decided to go to the dining room, where Anaxi was sitting, playing with a few of his Lego toys.

I cooed and picked him up, it had taken him a while, but eventually Anaxi had warmed up to me. He's such a sweet baby, I can't wait to have my own child. Babies are so cute, but also so much work.
I was playing with Anaxi when a large crash noise sounded, red lights started flashing, and the blaring noise of a deafeningly loud alarm resulted in Anaxi crying.
One of the maids instructed me, starting to pull me along with her.
Another maid spoke, practically steering me into wherever the shelter was.
Pleaded a maid but I needed confirmation that Gigi was alright. I should've checked for her before coming downstairs. At least that way I'd know she was safe.
Lena surfaced and bellowed orders to the maids, who complied, rushing off into the direction of the shelter with Anaxi. I'd go to the shelter too, but only after I found Gigi. Come to think of it, I can't remember if Gigi even showed me the shelter. Which is another reason why I should find her so she could lead us both to the shelter, safely.
I rushed back up the stairs to a floor that had a sign stating that was the Alpha and Luna floor.
I opened all the doors and didn't find Gigi. There was one door left, and I could hear Gigi shouting and trying to open the door.
Whilst maintaining conversation with Gigi, I looked around for things to help me open the door. In the corner, completely jammed behind the corner radiator, was a shiny metal key poking out. It was a hard task pulling it out of its space, but I managed to do so.
In between my rushed description of the maids, I managed to open the door to the room Gigi was in only to find her face coated in an expression of pure horror.
Well sh!t then.

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.

Dream Theater
Long casted shadows danced in the background, as a man squibbled and jotted words on yellow papers. A mere novelty, remnant and ghost that was left to age away along with the forgotten theater, a man grasped for inspiration to salvage what was left of his soul. Abandoned in the squalid room, Pxan was left hauntedly in the furthest corners of insanity that bubbled in his mind. No one would listen to his plight, denouncing him and claiming his mind was not right. Even though the world left him with nothing, turning their backs to him, he knew the books would never betray him in the same fashion. Faceless pages and books yet to be read ogled puppy eyes, ready to be penned by the madman. “Pxan! Pxan! Over here! To me!” Clamored the unpublished manuscripts. Pxan’s fingers quivered nervously, thoughts of failure flooded his mind. Wanting to surrender to the pressure. “No!” He cried. “I’ve had enough of writing.” Books with eyes all stared at him, begging for the tales to be written. Their pleaful eyes were all that Pxan needed to be moved to writing again. The man sighed and raised his pen again, stroking the first letters of inspiration that bore fruit from his mind.
