《The Alpha's Silent Mate》9

"It's time to get up! Get up! Get up!"
I awake to an excited Darcy jumping on my bed as if it's a bounce house.
I groan and throw a pillow at her. She hexes it away.
"Come on birthday girl!" She says and conjoures up a storm of confetti and streamers.
The sparkly colourful mess surrounds me and makes my simple bedroom look like a sea of glitter and rainbows.
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Chloe, happy birthday to you!" Mia, followed by Kaden, Anastasia and their parents all walk in singing.
A big grin crawls on to my face.
"Thanks all of you," I say with a smile, " now ! I need to get dressed!!"
Instead of leaving, they all crack up.
What's the joke?
"Darcy, get her a mirror!" Kaden says in hysterics.
Darcy fades away then reappears with my blue handheld mirror.
"What happened to my hair!!" I scream.
It was a sickly green colour. No offence to green haired beauties, but I look like a sea creature.
Everyone starts laughing all over again. I roll my eyes then run to my bathroom and grab the blonde dye.
I'd rather have a normal hair colour than look like I was a guest at a slime fest.
About an hour later, I exit the bathroom with my now strawberry blonde hair.
"Blonde is cute on you, Chlo! But it's my colour." Darcy says as soon as she sees me.
My bed is neatly made and there aren't any streamers and confetti bits on the floor.
"Then gimme back my hair colour!" I playfully scowled.
"Wait, here's something we can do!" Darcy exclaims then lifts her palms to face me. Her hands give out a faint blue glow and her eyes glow a shade of blue before returning to their previous green colour.
"Done."
I sprint to my dresser and gasp in awe at my new hair colour. It's still it's brown colour, but it fades to blonde at the tips, giving it an ombre look.

"Thanks Darce! Let's go down for breakfast." I say running out of the room still in my Minnie Mouse pajamas.
What? I may be a future queen, but I'm still a kid at heart.
The delicious smell of waffles and various fruits fills my nose.
I eagerly walk to the kitchen to find warm waffles with ice cream and chocolate sauce on top, with a side of fruit salad in peach yogurt.
Darcy appears next to me dressed in a waiter's suit paired with shiny black heels and her blonde and green hair in a tight bun.
"Breakfast is ready, Alpha princess Chloe." She says with a bow and a wink.
"Why thank yew!" I say in my posh British accent.
~
I slip on a pair of plain white Converse. If I'm going to be on my feet for about four hours, I at least need to be comfortable.
No one will see them underneath my ball gown anyway.
I reach for the gold tiara with sapphires on it. I take a few seconds to admire it before setting it on my head. The blue jewels brought out my eyes.
I look at myself in my full length mirror, almost being shocked by what I see.
My straightened out brown-and-blonde hair flows down my back.
I was dressed formally in a simple yellow silk ball gown with long sleeves and ribbons at the front. It hugs my arms, chest and waist like a second skin, then billows out at the bottom.
Bands of delicate white lace on the sleeves tickle my wrists.
I look like one of those Disney princesses in the movies. I grab my phone and take just one selfie. I decided to go natural on my face this time with only some lip gloss and mascara.
A gentle knock on my door grabs my attention. I quickly grab the short white silk gloves from my dresser and pull them on before opening the door.
Kaden looks me over and gives me a warm smile.
"You look stunning, Chlo."
I take in his white suit that did nothing to hide his big burly muscles. His brown hair is gelled back and neatly trimmed. I smirk, giving him a once-over.

"You clean up nicely too, Kaden."
"Let's go. Everyone's waiting for us in the First Hall."
The First Hall is basically a large room in the castle occupying the entire third floor. It's usually used to gather the First Pack members when initiating and welcoming a new pack member. It's also used to get the whole werewolf kingdom together for the King/Queen's coronation.
Luckily, since I'm only being coronated as crown princess, it is only the members of my pack that are attending. But it's big enough to accommodate thousands upon thousands of people.
When we reach the First Hall, what catches my attention is Mia, who's dressed in pure white, which causes a beautiful contrast with her skin, standing on the podium. Behind her, stand the Beta and Gamma pairs along with the council members all dressed in white.
During a coronation or welcoming ceremony, it is compulsory for all members present to wear white clothing and no shoes, with the exception obviously being the royal being coronated or the new pack member.
I slowly walk up the stairs and onto the podium. The head council member, Rowan steps forward. He places his left hand underneath my right one.
"Let us begin." He says.
I move to the front and address the crowd of just under a thousand.
"I, Alpha princess Chloe, daughter of the late Alpha King Aaron and Alpha Queen Aliyah, swear to the moon goddess Selene, with my pack members as my witnesses..."
I pause to take a breath.
"...to protect and serve my people to the best of my ability as your crown princess and future queen."
I step back and let Mia removes the tiara on my head and replaces it with a silver one bearing pure diamonds.
Rowan then hands me the slightly-heavy gold scepter with deep blue alluvial stones on it.
I remove the gloves and take the scepter in my right hand.
I remain as still as possible when Mia fastens the silky navy blue sash that goes around my left shoulder to the right side of my waist. On the sash, small patterns, barely visible unless you pay close attention, swirl around beautifully. The sash is lined with lace made from pure gold thread.
"Members of the royal pack, your Crown Princess!" Rowan exclaims and the crowd literally goes wild with cheers.
A big smile is plastered on my face.
I walk forward and lift the scepter, making it glow faintly. The faint glow grows brighter until it's light is converted into a strong surge of power. The power glows bright and spreads rapidly in all directions, creating a ripple effect.
Everyone's cheers stop and all their eyes flash golden. Their wolves surface.
They all tilt their heads up into the sky and howl. But it is not only the wolves of the First Pack that howl. More howls are heard from every direction.
Every wolf in every part of the continent is howling as they feel their new leader rising. Alphas included.
The scepter slowly glows dimmer and stops entirely. Everyone's eyes go back to normal and the cheers are brought back.
I descend the podium and lead the way to the banquet hall. Soon, all the wolves follow me.
I take my seat at the head of the royals' table with Mia to my left, the Gamma family to my right and the Beta family on Mia's left. The members of the werewolf council sit at their own table next to ours.
I smile to myself, listening to the happy chatter of the pack. I don't eat because I am not hungry.
I hold my scepter tightly, as if it would disappear if I loosen my grip.
"Crown Princess Chloe. Has a nice ring to it." Mia whispers in my ear.
Yeah.
Now all that's left is the gruesome dinner with the Alphas tomorrow.

NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY: The Adventures of The Creeping Bam (BOOK ONE: The Job)
TAO is a broken world held together with nothing but magic and the will of the gods who protect it and its people. Then thousand years ago THE SUNDERING struck and Tao was almost torn apart by a terrible magical cataclysm which resulted in the planet almost being halted in its journey through the cosmos. It took all the power the gods of Tao could muster to restore its orbit and set it turning again, but in their efforts it was forever changed – its axis was drastically altered, and it now spins in such a way that one face of the world is forever turned from the sun it orbits, leaving half the planet in perpetual darkness. The various humanoid races that survived and now thrive within the habitable parts of THE DAY LANDS have come to live in perpetual fear of what lives beyond THE BORDERLANDS that separate them from whatever dwells within THE NIGHT LANDS, but for ten millennia it has kept its secrets. The land of RUNDAO languishes under the rule of their warlike Northern neighbours, the TEKTEHRAN EMPIRE, while a small, ragtag band of motley adventurers ply their mercenary trade fighting monsters and protecting the common man from the various dangers that haunt the night and prowl the hinterlands on the edges of civilization. THE CREEPING BAM have amassed a modest reputation in their years together, but they’re still just a small-time party of sellswords, thieves, outcasts and mages. They’re also exactly the kind of underdogs the people of Tao doesn’t yet realise are needed to save the world from the encroaching darkness they doesn’t even know is coming … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.
