《Worth The Risk》Something In The Water

The car ride had been completely silent. Emma's mind was racing. The phone call between her and Delilah dropped and when she tried to call her back, she didn't answer. Emma was worried, scared, and pissed the fuck off. Who would do this? Delilah was a responsible person. Emma couldn't imagine her leaving her drink unattended and on the off chance that she did, she wouldn't go back to it. She knew better. Unless, of course, she trusted the person handling her drink. A blaze of fury engulfed Emma as she realized Savannah may be responsible for this. She started driving even faster. Her heart was ricocheting off the walls of her chest.

Cyn didn't know what was going on but she was scared. This was the first, and hopefully last, time she saw Emma look so angry. She didn't even look this mad when Cyn refused to eat her dinner. "Mommy?" Cyn said softly.

Not that she was trying to, but with everything else floating through her head, Emma forgot that Cyn was in the passenger seat with Hopper and Legs hugged to her chest. Emma forced herself to calm down for Cyn's sake. "Yes, baby?"

"What's going on?" She asked.

"I need you to be big. Can you do that?" Emma asked.

Cyn didn't want to be big but it must be important if Emma was asking her to. She steeled herself and nodded. "Okay."

"Someone drugged Delilah." Emma said.

"What!!" Cyn yelled. She understood why this was so urgent now. "Is she okay? Is she alone?"

"I hope so. She's not supposed to be alone. She went to this stupid BDSM club with her "friend" Savannah."

Cyn could tell by the way Emma said her name that she did not like Savannah. The car slowed down and Cyn assumed this was the club. It didn't look like a BDSM club. Then again, how exactly was that supposed to look?

Emma tried to call her again but still no answer. She would have to go inside. She was hardly dressed for the type of crowd but it didn't matter. "Cyn stay here. I'll be right back."

"No way." Cyn unbuckled her seatbelt and hopped out of the car.

Emma started to argue with her about staying in the car but she decided it was better not to waste time. Anything could be happening to Delilah. The two of them hurried to the door and was greeted by a larger bouncer.

"Hi, we need to get inside." Emma said in a rush.

The bouncer looked down the women. They weren't really up to dress code and the smaller one didn't exactly look old enough to be in the club anyway. "ID's" he barked in a deep voice.

"I don't have my ID. We left in a rush and I just... I need to check on my girlfriend." Emma said. Her temper was flaring.

He chuckled. "Miss, if your girlfriend came here without you, I can guarantee you don't want to see whatever she's doing. Get out of here, freak." He shook his head.

"Shut up!" Cyn shouted at the man. No one talked to her Mommy like that.

"Excuse me?" He said as his brow furrowed.

"Listen," Emma stepped closer to the man and narrowed her eyes, "I am a lawyer and my girlfriend has been drugged inside of this establishment. Let me in or I'll sue your ass for aiding and abetting in the sexual assault of my client."

The man threw up his hands. "Hey relax. I don't know anything about drugging anyone. Go. Find her." He stepped to the side and opened the door for them.

Once upstairs, Emma and Cyn looked all around for Delilah. They didn't see her on the dance floor or in any of the booths. Emma checked the bar. She got the bartender's attention. "Excuse me!"

The bartender smiled. "What can I get you?"

"I'm looking for someone." Emma showed the woman a picture from her phone. "Have you seen her?"

"Yeah, the really tall hot chick. She was here with her girlfriend. They were both pretty messed up."

"That's not her..." Emma took a deep breath. It didn't matter what this stranger thought. "Do you know where they went?"

"I think I saw them head downstairs. I don't know though."

"What's downstairs?" Cyn asked.

"I could show you sometime." The bartender said flirtatiously.

Emma had been to enough clubs and dungeons to know what was downstairs. She grabbed Cyn's hand and pulled her away from the bar. "We have to go downstairs. Um.. you might see some things that make you uncomfortable. If you want to wait in the car, it's okay."

"I'm fine. Come on. We have to find Lilah." Cyn said.

Emma nodded and they traveled downstairs. It was darker down there with only cool blue lights lining the walls and floors. Emma and Cyn peeked into every room and around every corner trying to find Delilah. Still no luck.

"The bathroom." Emma mumbled more so to herself. She ran to the bathroom but it felt like something was blocking the door from opening. Emma didn't care. She wasn't leaving without checking every crevice of that damned building. She pushed the door open enough for her to slide in. Cyn followed her inside. Delilah's body laid there on the floor. Emma started freaking out. Cyn kneeled on the floor and placed Delilah's head in her lap.

"Delilah! Wake up!" Emma said.

Cyn looked up at Emma. "Babe I know its hard but you have to stay calm. Wet a few napkins and hand them to me."

Emma did as she was asked and watched as Cyn put them on her face.

"Delilah, baby. Wake up. Open your eyes for me." Emma said. She shook her a little. Then shook her harder.

Cyn checked Delilah's pulse. "Emma, cup your hands under the cold water and splash it on her." Emma gathered as much water as she could and threw it on Delilah's face. She accidentally splashed Cyn too but it worked.

Delilah opened her eyes and gasped. Her mouth felt dry and she was so confused. She still felt drunk but hungover at the same time.

"Delilah. Oh my god." Emma said. She wiped her own tears. "Come on. We have to get you to a hospital."

"Why?" Delilah asked.

"You called me saying... you know what? I'll tell you when we get in the car." Cyn and Emma helped her stand up and got her outside.

"Hey!" Savannah yelled out from behind them. "Where are you guys going? Party's just getting started."

The hairs on the back of Emma's neck stood straight. If she was a cartoon character you'd be able to see the steam from her ears. The three of them turned around to face Savannah.

"Holy fuck. What happened to her?" Savannah asked.

"You happened to her! I know you had something to do with this. Did you drug her??" Emma got in Savannah's face.

Delilah could see what was happening but she couldn't react. "Em." She said so quietly only Cyn, her human crutch, could hear her.

"Relax. I'd hardly call it drugging her. I just gave her a little something to help her relax. Maybe get into the mood. She didn't seem to have a problem with it. As a matter of fact, I think she liked it. liked it." Savannah said with a sly smirk on her face. "If you know what I mean."

That was it. Emma couldn't stand it anymore. Before she knew what she was doing, her fist connected with Savannah's face. They began hitting each other and Savannah was pulling her hair when Cyn intervened. Emma had a few scratches but Savannah's lip and eye were busted.

"Crazy, bitch." Savannah said. She spit blood on the ground and started to walk away. "Tell her to call me, when she wants more."

Emma started towards her again, but Cyn held her back. "Delilah needs you, Em." She said softly. Emma knew she was right. She got Delilah in the car and drove as fast as she could to the hospital. Cyn sat in the back with her and tried to keep her awake. Emma's hands were hurting, but not as bad as her heart. She knew at that very moment she would kill Savannah if she ever came around Delilah again.
