《The Immortal Alpha》Chapter 11

"What are you looking at?" Dylan asked nonchalantly. He had broken me from my trance. Which I didn't know I was in until he spoke. He turned his head to the door and then he said something I had not expected.

"Oh! Now I get it. Your looking at that girl that just came in." He said stupidly for a beta. "Um!whats her name again?" He asked rhetorically as he put on his thinking face. He always looked funny when he did that, eyebrows scrunched up and lips in a thin line. Yah, it was a classic and he only did it around me and the gamma. Who was also my cousin,Strider Darkwood

He snapped his fingers in front of me. "Now I get it. She's that girl that always comes here. Well I see her every time I'm here." He said nonchalantly . "Anyway why are you looking at her like that?" He asked with a blank stare at me. Deep down he wouldn't care less as to why. Soon enough he would, not at much as I but still.

He gave one look and said something that I was not expecting. "Wait! Don't tell me. She is your mate! She is the Luna!" Dylan said in a high pitched voice filled with excitement. He was not as dumb as he looked after all. To confirm his theory, which it was until I confirmed it I had to tell him through the mind link. Confirm his 'theory' I couldn't risk saying it out loud. It would make it real. Not that I didn't want her but it would put her in danger. Her life at risk. And I wouldn't do that to her.

"Yes. And I was beginning to doubt your intelligence there." I teased him. I looked in my mate's direction and smiled. She was one in a million. Reaching for my cup of hot chocolate my eyes went to Dylan who was beaming with happiness. "Anyway how is the work that I gave you coming along?" I went back into work mode, well Alpha King mode just as fast. "And your guys?" I asked him yet another question.

"Every time? But I make you work day in and day out."

"I have my ways.Like I said,I do see her here. Every time that I come here that is. She is either already here or about to walk through that door." He said pointing to the door and directing a soft smile in her direction. I growled at him. I didn't want anyman talking at her other than me much less smiling at her. Yeah I was possessive but it was for a good course.

"And the guys will come later today." He said going back to business mode.

I had asked him three days ago to look up on her background or find someone else that would. He found three of the best field researchers to do the work.

"Seeing as you just went back into work mode, how about you tell me what does the Luna coming here have to do with you? Or anything else for that matter." He said with a confused face. I looked at him with a blank face but then it just softened at the mention of her.

"I wanted to see her as much as possible." I said with a faint smile on my lips. I rarely smiled so for me to smile this much is just a matter of four days was big. "Looks like this will be my new favourite place." I said in a low voice. Dylan heard me. Ofcourse he would hear he was a lycan for fucks sake. I stood from my chair and told him to leave and that we would meet at the pack house. The original plan was to go to her and I did leaving Dylan with the same brunette that kept flirting non stop with him.

She was seated at one of the tables near the Windows and she was looking out to the night. As I approached her my heart raised and I could have sworn it skipped a beat. I got nervous. For the first time in my live I was nervous and all because of a woman. One that was my mate.

Was it natural? I don't think so.

I sat there and thought of something to say for a few seconds. And again it was my first. I didn't know what to say and if I said "Hey." it would sound plain and simple. Then she would think that I'm average. If I said something else I would sound too desperate and I was. But what if she didn't fell the same for me?

I had no time to rehearse my first words to her nor did I know what to say when I approached her.

Yes I had reheased what I would say and do when I first met her but that was 150 years ago. The time when I still had hope but I eventually lost it.

I finally chose for the plain and well known first word. "Hey." I said to her. She did not show any sign of raising her head since she was looking down. "Hi." She replied with a small voice while still looking down. For some reason she found her cup very interesting. Like really she couldn't take her eyes off of the damn thing and it frustrated me.

"Hello." I tried again but made sure not to repeat the first awkward "Hey". It was off and she may have found it plain. Just like I had thought. "Hi." She replied yet again but this time looked up at me. "I-I..." she stuttered. She must have remembered me from three days back and that to me was progress. In a way.

She looked at the plastic cups that sat on the table then back at me. But that came after that was beyond me. she closed her eyes and for quite some time.

Why is she doing that? Closing her eyes.

It looked like she was someone in a fight with their feelings but I did not wanna disturb and pry. This was my first day talking to her.

'You have beautiful lashes.' I thought of saying to her. She did have beautiful eye lashes that were long and fake. But I said something else. "Why is a lady as beautiful as you seating all alone on such a cold night?" I asked her in a flirty voice. I never had to flirt with woman actually it was the other way around. And I was sure my whole face was written curiosity. I cocked a brow and she was bewildered by something.

Me? No. I don't think so.

My question? Yes. Was a possibility.

She gave nothing away. She just gave me a blank stare and she seemed to be battling with herself, again. I found that quite intriguing for a woman like her. Beautiful, intelligent, strong and sophisticated.

"Or are you waiting for someone?" I asked and cringed at the words as they came out of my mouth and also seeing as she had not said anything. The thought of her with someone else drove me grazy but I had to hold on a little longer for her and later kill that son of a bitch. And by later it meant the moment I found out who he was. Assuming it was a man. She did not answer so I took that as a 'Yes' and got up to leave. Well I originally wanted to stand up and l leave after that but my butt was glued. It hurt to think that,to believe it. My only love was waiting for another man. A man that was not me. Even if it was me,I would never make her wait. Not her.

I took a leap of faith, the little faith that I had in me and looked at her again. She was still looking at me with that blank stare of hers that I had discovered put me on edge.

"I do apologize for disturbing you. I'll leave." That was the last straw. I had to go. I pushed myself off the chair and got up. "Wait!..." She called out and reached for my hand. The contact ignited fireworks in me and I could only hope she felt it too. "I mean stop." She pulled her hand away and sadness overcame me. I stopped and looked down at her. She was on the shorter end of the stick but who cared. "I was not waiting for anyone." She confessed.

That was my cue to go sit down and she blushed. Her cheeks turned a beautiful shade of pink. "And why is that?" She asked looking me dead in the eyes. I smicked. She was amusing and a really brave woman. One of the few that had the courage to look me in the eyes and when I said few I meant they weren't more than the fingers on one hand.

She answered with a question. One question on top of another . She had on a sly devilish smile. She had something in mind and I was willing to put anything on the line to find out. I had to get to know the woman. I had to.

"You'll get bored and a beautiful lady such as yourself should not get bored." I answered honestly with a half smile. "You could join me." She suggested in a seductive manner and I took her offer.

We sat there for a while talking about senseless things. Well I did most of the talking. Asked her if she was a regular there and stuff like that. But after some time I caught her checking me out.So I cleared my throat and smicked at her. It was kind of cute and funny to have witnessed her reaction.

She blushed and froze. It was amaizing and fascinating really how she moved from being confident to embarrassed in a matter of seconds. I had the urge to laugh. Though short,I laughed. Her chesks were full on red. A sight that had made my day.

She muttered something about being a weirdo under her breath. It hurt me to think that she was not good enough for me. That I would never find someone like her attractive.

I laughed out slightly again and she looked at me alarmingly. "I don't think of you as a wierdo or a dush." I said in a stern voice. "And please don't report me..." I said playfully and smiled. "I'de still love to hear your voice and talk to you more. Plus I wouldn't get to see that gorgeous smile of yours." She blushed.
